  1. @theScore: Oilers rookie Connor McDavid 'ahead of schedule' in recovery from broken clavicle. https://t.co/Q9uVGzNhX0https://t.co/Yc62kXqURz
  2. I was hanging out at my friends hotel last night and tnere was a couple there from out of town. They were from Baltimore. Became fans of the CFL when the Stallions were in the league and have followed it ever since. Came up for the big game. I thought that was a pretty neat story!
  3. Doubt it. Back to back. Rotation.
  4. Nothing would surprise and if Helle is for real the likelihood is Pavs and Helle next year. But it could also be Helle and hutch. A much cheaper option for the jets.
  5. There was confusion over jurisdiction right? And didnt Bobby (Or Jackie) demand the body be returned to Washington asap? They just wanted to go home. Not an excuse but when was the last time a President had been assassinated. Dallas PD wanted to investigate it as a local homicide. FBI asserted jurisdiction. I believe its FBI jurisdiction officially now, no? If it happened today, it's a Federal Crime?
  6. Best Jets fight Ive seen in a long time. Can't get to a TV.... Did Peluso kick some ass? Im at work listening. Sounds like the Wild player scored a few shots and Peluso turned the switch and whooped him. Announcers said Wild player had his hand up to protect his head waiting for the linesmen to break it up.
  7. Peluso sending an early message.
  8. Sad thing is Yotes will probably be fine if they move to a better part of the state. Not great but passable. And I'm ok with tjat. In a perfect world you have 30(or 32) super successful franchises but that will never happen so you just hope for as few disasters as possible.
  9. If I recall, the few autopsy photos taken were also taken with them holding the head wound closed to make it appear much smaller. I've heard doctors say there was no doubt the throat wound was an entry wound also. Imagine that scene in the ER. If it was anyone else they wouldnt even go to the ER. Straight to the morgue. Half his head obliterated, brain matter missing and they're frantically trying to save his life. Crazy. Everytime I see the Zapruder film, you see him emerge from behind the street sign with his hands up to his throat and Im practically yelling "just ******* duck!". Like you're hit, hit the deck of that car! How would the world be different if he had ducked down after the first shot and survived?
  10. But the thing is, its one thing for us to wish they did a better job or feel like maybe they did a quicky job to put it behind the country. But his brother was Attorney General for crying out loud. How did he not demand, insist, implement, lead a more thorough investigation? And I dont think i've ever seen Bobby Kennedy comment about the Warren Commission or his brothers passing. Im sure he has, but I dont recall. I have heard the story about Bobby being the one to "steal" JFK's brain is still considered "missing". The story goes he had it buried with the body. What they need is someone to push this issue up to and including digging up the body for further study. Wasnt it Clinton who said he asked about this? I know he asked about Aliens. Off topic but Jimmy Carter also was a UFO buff and had his own sighting. Before he became President he vowed to find out the truth and disclose it to the public. Once elected, he never mentioned it again.
  11. Interesting that Helle was a 5th round pick. If all goes according to plan that's going to be a big time scouting win.
  12. Knowing what we know, it seems reasonable that the Mafia, Castro and members of the US Intelligence Community with perhaps assistance from some higher ups in the government were involved. And yet that seems outrageously insane to even consider. But I also wonder. If there was no Zapruder film, what would be the description of events? If the Cop hadnt left his mic open to record the gun shots, what would the story have been? And there is also a woman across the street (opposite Zapruder) who appears to also be filming. She was never identified (if I recall correctly). She would have (or could have) filmed the grassy knoll shooter if, in fact, there was one.
  13. Sportsnet: With the City of Glendale backing out of the long-term agreement with the team to run the arena, the ownership group has been forced to look elsewhere in the Greater Phoenix area to build an arena. Stories are certainly circulating about potential opportunities in downtown Phoenix (across from the baseball stadium), in Scottsdale and near the Arizona State University campus in Tempe.
  14. Its not that bad. But thats the issue with trading Ladd and Buff. They are top line winger and top pair D. How do you replace that? Hamonic helps for sure. But Ladd? We're already weak on LW. Ladd might "deserve" more just because it's Winnipeg. But I wonder if we could get a top six LW in free agency. There are some interesting names, many of whom wont be interested in Winnipeg. Kopitar, Staal, Lucic etc. And its why they *must* have contracts by the deadline or be traded. It doesnt matter where the Jets are in the standings. You cant lose them for nothing.
  15. That logo is certainly minimalistic. I dont like it. Needs more red...need more pop. The minimizing the Maple Leaf with the idea to minimize the "Canadian" aspect is sort of silly. But perhaps this is a marketing trend right now. I dont know.
  16. I am not familar with him. What character issues? All I see is a very talented, high scoring player with size and ability.
  17. Isnt it accepted knowledge that there was more than one shooter? The House Committee on Assasinations that looked at the case after the Warren Commission stated as much. But the investigation was never re-opened. I do think some people had honorable intentions in wanting to "spare" the public from details and investigations and the idea of cutting up the President's body just seemed disrespectful to many. I think some of the flaws in the investigation were not malicious. Watching the video it seems clear JFK was shot from the front. But I've seen recreations that show a shot from behind would cause the bodily reaction that makes it look like a front shot. It might be that most people have it wrong. That the first shot came from the front (the controversial throat entry wound) and the kill shot came from behind. The craziest theory I read was that the limo driver did it, along with video to supposedly show him turning, raising a gun, firing and then speeding off. It's ridiculous ofcourse. We will probably never know the truth. Any "truth" that comes out now will be met with scorn. E Howard Hunt allegedly confessed on his death bed to being involved and there are supposedly photos of him in Dallas that day. But other say he "confessed" so his family could profit from the speculation of his involvement. I saw another supposed former CIA agent gave a deathbed confession to working for a CIA assassinations squad during the same period and said he killed Marylin Munroe. But these seem so wild, its hard to believe.
  18. Still a strong company. I know the argument was that the expense of taking the telecom into the future was too big. But I read a comparison between MTS and Sasktel where Sasktel was quite favorable. The voluntary retirement happening at MTS right now isnt a bad thing. Good for the company and good for the people. Employees have been asking about it for years. They used to do it more often and they have people who have worked 30, 35, 40+ years that have been waiting for the right offer to retire.
  19. They're like a modern version of he New Age Outlaws.
  20. Im very curious what you wrote here! Was it about TNA or the heel/face/interesting story discussion?
  21. Just had this convo in the office. Feeling is Buff is the better player, Hamonic the younger, better contract. So all things being equal, its Buff for Hamonic +. So considering the contract scenerio for Buff, what do we have to throw in. And if we believe Islanders get the better player, do we feel comfortable throwing in anything? Does it expand to incorprorate other players? Does it turn into Buff & Ladd & Burmi & Pick for Hamonic, Strome, Pick? or something in that general thought. With the Isles getting the better players albeit with expiring contracts but a better shot at the cup and first crack at re-signing? Or am I way off base?
  22. I dont think Chevy was afraid to sign Frolik. If he made a mistake it was gambling that Frolik would accept less on a deal last season than he wanted the season before. If I recall, we could have had Frolik on a 4 year deal at $4m when he was an RFA but the Jets thought it was too much. Chevy said money wasnt the issue when Frolik became a UFA. His wife wanted Calgary. Not much you can do about that and we should not be paying an extra million for a guy to play here if he doesnt want to. We gave big deals to Toby, Wheeler, Little (and Ladd in year one). I dont think the Jets are cheap. I think they are careful. If Chevy signed Ladd for 6X6 in the summer, we would have applauded it then and regretted it now. 1290 (I think Westwood) was talking about the Ladd injury and how sports docs told him it can be difficult to recover from. Its possible the Jets wanted to see if the team was a playoff contender before making final decisions on Ladd & Buff. If the team was a contender then you perhaps spend a bit more to recoup them. But should they blow $6m on Ladd and even more on Buff to be a team that isnt even competing for a playoff spot? If this was March 1st right now (or whenever the deadline is), I'd be totally fine with moving both guys. In fact, I'd insist on it. As much as I like them both. The time will come to crap or get off the pot, fish or cut bait.
  23. Consider the source as Rebel likes to spin things far right but this seems odd. Anyone see anything else about this? When news started spreading about soldiers receiving letters notifying them that they would be asked to vacate their residences to make room for refugees, the Liberals denied it. They’ve now confirmed that single unmarried soldiers awaiting deployment, will indeed need to move. Soldiers are used to being asked to make sacrifices and we’ll have to wait and see how long they can expect this dislocation to last. On thing we do know however is that many of those displaced soldiers will be deployed to assist the refugees but out of concern that they might find the sight of uniformed soldiers disturbing, they won’t be wearing uniforms or carrying sidearms. This hearkens back to the 1990’s when the Liberals forbade soldiers from wearing uniforms in public. I think this has less to do with the refugees and everything to do with how the Liberals view the military.
  24. I agree. I said it all over the board that they could easily be taking a step back this yeah and you're right, expected the veterans to be a lot better and expected Lowry and Trouba to be better too.
  25. Buff for Hamonic makes the Jets a better defensive team as that is his strength. It makes us less offensive minded from the back-end. But perhaps a strong defensive minded leader like Hamonic allows for Myers to evolve into the complete D we want him to be and perhaps it matures Trouba's game a bit. A lot to ask, I know. Losing Buff would suck in that he's such a unique player. But if the Jets were a better, more complete team, we wouldnt rely so heavily on Buff's ability to be a one man show. Perhaps it turns into a blockbuster with Ladd going too (if the Isles think they have a shot at the cup this season, he'd be a tremendous addition for them).
