I guess we're lucking out in some contract years. Ladd, Lowry, Trouba all making it easier to sign them for less.

Okay. Doesnt really matter then. But Stafford played for North Dakota which is practically Canada and also played in the AHL, didnt jump right from US College to NHL. But regardless...

Why does this apply more to an American player? Maybe it doesn't. But if I had to guess Id say an American player developed through the American system having never played junior, might be more apt to feel he should pick his destination. And a place like Winnipeg might seem more foreign. Perhaps not.

I think the idea is to have a heel the fans will boo against roman. Roman is so weak that against guys like Owens or Ambrose he's be boo'ed. With Sheamus and rusev the fans are actually behind roman. It's sort of a false support but wwe is hoping it sticks. And you can see how they book roman that he's always in an under dog position, always fighting from behind, always has odds to over come. They are using every trick in the book to get him over. And that hilarity is of they have that push to a half dozen more over guys they would have a tippy top guy the fans truly love. But roman is Vince's guy no matter what. -
I heard talk that Trouba's agent will be asking for big time dollars. As an RFA he doesn't have a ton of leverage but you never know with an American player if he will try to hold out.

Thought they might swap it tonight. But I doubt it -
How about two bottom pairing D men instead of one top 4 D men?
-
Problem is, everyone knows he pretty much has to trade him. He could wait but so can everyone else. Even at the deadline its not really a great deal because teams willing to give up good players dont want to do so at the deadline. For what he wants, he needs to deal now or wait til the summer. If its Trouba, Isles have to add something good.

Yeah he said he had it for a couple of months but it hurt so perhaps whatever happened in that match caused him to get it checked out. Tough guy to work that well/hard and maintain his fitness with a completely torn rotator cuff. Hopefully the time off ends up good for him. Vince doesnt like him but his return should get a strong reaction from the crowd and an opportunity for WWE to put him in a better position. -
How to eat food without being racist

I guess we will be shutting down all the karate schools in town. Better close down the taco stands. Fish & chips? Not on my watch. Shut em down. Folklarama? Never again. -

That is unbelievable. In what context is it culturally insensitive? I'd continue to do it, wait for a ban or arrest and let some pro bono rights activist lawyer take it to the supreme court. I imagine one news cycle of outrage and embarrassment would cause an immediate reversal in that boneheaded decision. -
Turner is probably the least funny local journalist on twitter. And sadly he keeps trying. I dont really "know" the personalities of the reporters so I cant often tell you who is good, bad or otherwise but I can tell you I have little respect for turner just because of his horrible attempts to be funny so damn often online. I find it difficult to believe a professional writer wouldnt hit a few quality zingers once in a while. But he's batting .000

Bad news for Cesaro who's out four-six months (and bad news for WWE which is now even more depleted of one of its best workers): The injury to Cesaro (Claudio Castagnoli) was confirmed today by WWE as a torn rotator cuff in his left shoulder. The injury was reported yesterday when Cesaro was pulled from his not announced but planned match last night at the Survivor Series. In an interview on the WWE web site, Cesaro said he suffered the injury two months ago, but essentially ignored it, not realizing the severity of it. He said he had maintained range of motion and he was hurt, but his strength wasn't down significantly. He said he was continuing to train on it. This past week he had the shoulder examined and found it was a complete tear. He said he just got the word of the tear today and his having surgery this afternoon. We had been told last night that he would probably be needing surgery, but that was to be determined, and this morning were told he was getting the shoulder evaluated. Cesaro said he was told he'd be out of action four to six months. -

Im not sure "locals" are overly sensitive with "ribbing". I think if most people engaged in an industry that required a lot of time and effort for those at various levels of seriousness that their reaction to someone mocking it would not be called "sensitive". Probably more accurate to say "reasonable". I've had more conversations than I can count with people who looked down their nose at wrestling or thought it was "easy" or "fake" and most of time we're gracious and polite. Occasionally you get the one who wants to get in the ring right now because its so easy and sometimes we can convince them to "try out". Those people are never heard from again. Im not bothered by you're supposed ribbing. But in a thread where people discuss opinions and fact, you keep taking time to express an opinion that is false. Its not so much that you are coming up with an amusing anecdote about wrestling, you're just stating false facts. Which leads me to believe you like wrestling but think you know a lot more than you do. If you ever want to have a try out, let me know. Perhaps you'd be less inclined to think local wrestlers were sensitive when mocked. -
Then why did you ask me?

Are we back to the dead cat issue again? Nah, Sweep got the last word!

Another snip on the hamonic front, from Peter Tessier (Jets blogger): IF you didn’t see my tweet from the weekend about Hamonic and the Jets here is the latest: Garth Snow asked for Trouba straight up. That comes from a source close to management who has never been wrong before. The reports on the weekend were that Snow asked for TJ Brodie from Calgary and that was a ‘no’. So Snow is trying to drive the market up but seems to be getting stalled. Interesting if true.

From Eklund: getting a ton of texts regarding Hamonic. In the end my gut tells me Winnipeg and the Islanders get this done, That settles it. He's not coming here.

Honestly, I don't see how you can come to these black and white conclusions, unless you are privy to counter-terrorism intelligence that no one else here is. The truth is, no one knows what terrorist groups have infiltrated these camps, and radicalized the people living in them. But I agree that we can't allow this fear to stop Canada from letting in refugees, and I support these efforts. There is no way to ever know fully if the people we are allowing in will one day decide to strap on a vest and self-detonate, but such is the way it is. Bring on the refugees. Great point. This is why I feel like the refugee "threat" is being over blown & politicized somewhat because the terrorist threats are not limited to refugees. If the Paris & Ottawa incidents have shown anything, it's that immigrants and natural born citizens are being radicalized and are just as willing or likely to commit these crimes. That is very true. But I think it resonates more with the general public. If most terrorists are citizens and some terrorists are refugees, the citizens are already here, the refugees are not. True or not, that's an easy narrative for people to wrap their brains around. And rightly or wrongly there is the perception of "them" coming to get "us". As much as I want the plan to be "careful", when the US was rapidly having states turn against their own refugee plan, it did not sit well with me. Came across too knee-jerk, reactionary and political. My main issue with the refugee plan is the idea that wanting it to be done right was politicizing it but the idea itself wasnt. it surely was. I think Canada should be taking in refugees. But aside from the security aspect there are other concerns and they should be well thought out and not rushed simply for a new PM to appear a certain way.

That is exceptional.

I liked Daredevil (liked the actor from Boardwalk Empire) but havent been too compelled to watch. Not a huge Marvel TV fan. But Ill try to check it out. I wish CBS had gone the Netflix route with Star Trek rather than their own streaming service.

Good to see the immaturity of the former thread has come here. KBF, say something insightful to save this from locking.

*Last word* A much better "last word" than the factually incorrect one you tried to sneak in above. But if Sharia Law works for you, who am I to argue.

Actually to suggest anyone agreeing with Harper on the Niqab issue is racist is foolish, simplistic and ignorant. But perhaps best not to rehash that debate. Hopefully those coming here dont believe women are subservient to men. Anyone that thinks that is off the mark.
