  1. Wait a minute. Is that a negative on the negativity?
  2. Just posted this in the game day thread, but the last time we played Toronto, Lirim was 4-4 in FGs including a 53 yard attempt. He was good enough then...
  3. Winnipeg at Toronto - CFL game notes. - Before their last game (a 27-20 defeat at home to Ottawa) the previous four Bombers’ games were each decided by 3 points or less. The only other time in CFL history that any team had 4 consecutive games decided by 3 points or less was Saskatchewan in 1987. - Winnipeg – 4 Starting QBs: With the loss of #1 QB Drew Willy after just 7 games, the Bombers have had to employ four different starting QBs this season. This week, if the club elects to start Dominique Davis over Matt Nichols, that would push the total to 5 different QB Starters – one short of the all-time CFL record set by Winnipeg in 1983. That year, the Bombers started (in order) Mark Jackson, Nickie Hall, Dieter Brock, John Hufnagel, Norman Gibbs and Tom Clements. Kudos to Paul Wiecek for pushing the research on this record. - Ricky Ray brings a 5-1 record vs Winnipeg for Toronto into this game. That 5-1 mark has come against 4 different Winnipeg starting QBs with Davis or Nichols potentially his fifth opposing QB. He has started against Alex Brink, Buck Pierce, Max Hall and Drew Willy since 2012. - The Argos’ starting QB brings a 99-90-1 record into the final regular season game of 2015 and can join seven other CFL QBs at the 100-win mark: Anthony Calvillo 167, Damon Allen 163, Ron Lancaster 158, Tracy Ham 115, Henry Burris 113, Danny McManus 103 and Matt Dunigan 100. This would be his 24th career start vs Winnipeg (12-10-1). His 100th win as a starter would tie Matt Dunigan for #7 all-time. - Greg Jones: Trying to reach 100 tackles and enters the final game with 94. Only Darryl Ford (113, 1991), Calvin Tiggle (121, 1994) and Kevin Eiben (110 in 2004, 113 in 2005 & 100 in 2010) have reached 100 DT in a season for Toronto. If Jones and Kahlil Bass (93) can make it to 100 that would be a CFL record of 5 in one year at 100+ tackles. - Kahlil Bass: A search through Blue Bombers’ rookie tackle records revealed that Kahlil Bass is now #1 all-time for single-season high. The previous mark was set by Ryland Wickman in 2000 with 84. - Jamaal Westerman: The first-year CFLer is #2 in the CFL in sacks with 15. He could become the first Winnipeg player to lead the entire CFL in QB sacks since Philip Hunt in 2010 (16). Toronto won the 1st game 27-20 with Marve at QB. That was the game wher Marshall caught that short pass from Marve and rambled 56 yards for a TD. Also, Lirim was 4-4 including. 53 yarder. - ****The main difference in the last time the Bombers and Argos met was the turnover margin won by Toronto 4-0. Sacks were even at 3, TOP differed by just 0:10, and the margin after each of the first three quarters was no larger than two points.
  4. And yet, everybody will go see Spectre.. Hee hee
  5. I'm stirred by your remark...but not shaken.
  6. It's Bond. James Bond. There are no bad Bond movies.
  7. If I could have wished Max Hall something after his life spun downwards, it would be something like this. Good on the school for taking chances on an inexperienced HC and with Max Hall. It's a good story..thanks for that.
  8. From the eyes and ears of Ed Tait: "Well, consider the Bombers were successful in landing the likes of Westerman and Stanley Bryant, among others, in free agency not just because they threw a lot of money at them, but because of a belief around the CFL that O'Shea and Walters know what they are doing."
  9. If only our Defense could blitz as well as some shots on here...
  10. Jets at Ottawa. Ottawa's home record? 1-3-2 The Jets could benefit on the power play. Ottawa is the most penalized team in the League with an average of 13:24 in penalty time per game. They have been assessed 58 minor penalties, tied with the Jets for second-most in the League. Craig Anderson will start in goal for the Senators. They will be without forward Mark Stone, who is serving the second game of a two-game suspension for an illegal check to the head of Detroit Red Wings forward Landon Ferraro on Oct. 31. The Jets, who defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-2 on Wednesday, did not skate Thursday. Goaltender Ondrej Pavelec made 24 saves against the Maple Leafs. With the back-to-back situation there's a chance goaltender Michael Hutchinson will get the start against the Senators. Winnipeg is playing the final game of a four-game Eastern road trip during which it has gone 2-1-0. Coach Paul Maurice told the Jets website Thursday he wants his players to pick up where they left off against the Maple Leafs. "We learned our game on the road last year in November," he said. "I just want to see us look tonight the way we did last night in a lot of our approach, then the outcomes of the games are going to fall the right way whether you're at home or on the road."
  11. My guess for what our won-loss record would be if Willy remained healthy, is shown as a certain Bomber's number. The question is, how did Denmark know what I would pick?
  12. I believe it can be both, and that's saying a lot right there.
  13. Speaking of the HC, M O'Shea: WINNIPEG, MB., November 5, 2015 – Winnipeg Blue Bombers Head Coach Mike O’Shea will be recognized by the Toronto Argonauts at halftime at the Rogers Centre on Friday night. The former Argonauts defensive stalwart will have his name and number added to the All-Time Argos following his 16-year playing career, 12 of which were spent with Toronto. O’Shea won three Grey Cup championships as a player with Toronto (1996, 1997, 2004), before earning another as their Special Teams Coordinator in 2012. He is still the club’s all-time leading tackler. He played in 271 regular season CFL games throughout his CFL career (the most ever by a defensive player), 18 playoff games, and three Grey Cup games. He is second on the CFL’s all-time tackles list with 1,151. The native of North Bay, Ontario, was a five-time East Division All-Star (1994-1995, 1997, 1999, 2000) and was named a CFL All-Star and the league’s Most Outstanding Canadian in 1999.
  14. Burmistrov and Wheeler. Super deal. Burmi..for delaying and playing the puck perfectly out of the box, but Wheeler, for recognizing the play and skating hard into it to combine on a beauty with Burmistrov. After losing faceoffs badly at first, the Jets came back and were down 37-32 at the end. Jets outhit the leafs 44-42 Blocked shots 17-14 Jets Giveaways 13-9 Jets Takeaways 9-7 Toronto Pavelec? A couple of game savers. Another good game by the Pav man.
  15. You're right, and it's not as if those sticks last any longer. And now there is a brewing controversy in curling brooms. The technology is getting too good for its own sake.
  16. Goalies are bigger, hence less net. Sweaters are bigger...to fit over the increase in equipment, hence less net. Blockers and mitts are bigger, hence less net, to shoot at. It's no big secret. A bigger net? I guess it's easier than a bigger ice surface..and cheaper. I hope they do their homework on this one.
  17. In this day and age, should the parness of one's English really matter?
  18. You will not hear a we want Brohm chant from anybody I know. Even if DD doesn't play well, wouldn't that be a step up? Or is that too harsh?
  19. Thanks for posting that Mark F. Yes, there is a problem. People who try to point that out shouldn't rolled on either.
  20. Nobody knows for sure. The records don't go back that far...
  21. Yes, it's Petan between Thorburn and Pelusoso. I don't mind Thorburn, but Pelusoso, not so much. Petan has to,be patient. Notwithstanding at least 2 empty net goals, the 3rd line of Stafford-6, Lowry-5 and Burmistrov-2 has the worst +- on the team. Ehlers, no surprise, leads the team with 43 shots. 34, then 33, 32 are next. Oh, that would be Buff, Wheeler and Ladd. And from the Toronto Star: "The Jets are the tallest (averaging six-feet-two inches) and heaviest (averaging 210 pounds) team in the NHL." And yes, I do expect a return to form, and a win, for the Jets..
