  1. The question should be.. Do you know how many stupid people drive?
  2. That without a reliable backup QB, you're hooped? Meet Matt Nichols - reliable backup QB Resurrection, on 08 Nov 2015 - 2:54 PM, said: When were they without BLM this year? The topic is Ottawa. Because you're mad at the Bombers, you're arguing Ottawa wouldn't have suffered without Burris? That's a turn off the highway.
  3. Nobody is saying otherwise, but so does Hamilton have a great team, but they have been reduced to what? Without whom again? It all starts at QB. No doubt.
  4. We saw far too many 30 minute efforts for this team all season, for whatever reason. This was nothing new and just reaffirmed the problem and that they need some sort of changes . Well, you said it..."for whatever reasons". I'm not sure I would pin it on efforts alone, or some sort of player leadership issue comes to mind for me. Maybe we do need that arrogant bastard type of player after all? But yes, some sort of changes should be forthcoming. The coach-player mix just isn't right.
  5. If you're talking about Ehlers, he already is a star in the making. When he touches the puck, look for something to happen. He makes the Jets that much, more exciting.
  6. And the 2015 Bombers went through the motions even though they had as much reason to play hard as the Riders and Als. Just sad and a condemnation of the current regime. Some players did look meh for the Bombers, but you have to remember, Saskatchewan has had their evaluation period on for weeks now. Not an apt comparison.
  7. You guys are making it too complicated. Ottawa has done really well this year. BUTOttawa would be fighting for a playoff spot without Burris's heroics this year. That cannot even be disputed.
  8. That's like a YouTube moment. First time watching Goldfinger. Won't ever forget this scene: Bond, strapped on a gold-bar table, with a laser beam ready to slice him open Bond - "Do you expect me to talk?" Goldfinger - "No, Mr Bond, I expect you to die."
  9. ya...Old Man Winter. Now, Hank might show up during the brrr games, but it won't erase how well he's performed up to this point. Easy MOP, including a new completion record tonight. Never was a Burris fan, but man, what a year.
  10. Ineffective power play 0-5, ineffective penalty kill 2-5 and a goaltender who made saves at the right time...28 times. We outhit them, won the faceoff battle, less giveaways, more takeaways, But that goaltender and 19 blocked shots by Philidelphia, well, that will do it most nights. Bummer.
  11. I beginning to think that drafted players from Saskatchewan have to sit for the year...for no particular reason...on the PR, AR, IR or is it R&R? Whatever it is, I don't like it.
  12. Skyfall? Free copies for Bomber season ticket holders?
  13. Can anybody stop Henry Burris? What a year that guy is having.
  14. This would be fantastic... @Tjedwards82: I would love to be @Wpg_BlueBombers southern scout.. I have a good eye for talent! So Wade and Kyle need to give me a call ASAP
  15. GAME NOTES: The Jets will be looking to avenge losing both of last year’s match ups with the Flyers. Coach Paul Maurice announced Nic Petan is feeling “under the weather,” will not play tonight. Patrice Cormier, called up from the Manitoba Moose prior to Wednesday’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs, will see his first NHL action of the season. “I’ve got a comfort level with Patrice. He’s really good positionally. He actually makes more plays than I think he gets credit for in terms of outs and passes out of the zone,” said Maurice, who has liked what he’s seen from the fourth line this season. “Our fourth line is a +9 for us. I have a greater comfort level of playing them. Some things go hand in hand. Blake (Wheeler)’s minutes are down about a minute or so … and they’re producing more. The fourth line has been important for us.” Another line-up change appears to be on the blue line. Tyler Myers skated with Jacob Trouba (a pairing that Maurice said he liked late in the 3-2 shootout loss to Ottawa), and Paul Postma filled Trouba’s usual spot with Mark Stuart this morning. Like Cormier, this will be Postma’s first NHL regular season game in 2015-2016. “He’s played enough games in the NHL, I don’t want to give him a laundry list to think about before he goes out and plays,” said Maurice. “If he was a first-year guy that hadn’t played I might spend some time. We know he’s ready. He’s pushed himself.” That push will be key tonight, especially with both teams a little road weary. This will be Philadelphia’s final game of a five-game road trip (a stretch where they’ve gone 0-3-1). The Jets just finished a 2-1-1 road trip of their own. “This is one of these games, you may see four, five, or six different teams on the ice,” said Maurice. “Who you are in the first 10 minutes may be a little different than who you are in the next 10. For me, I’m going to try to be watching for those changes. There are parts of the game you won’t control, but you want to be as fast as you can.” The Jets have yet to lose two in a row this season, and Ladd said that’s a stat the dressing room is proud of. COPP CREEPING CLOSER After scoring his first NHL goal against Columbus on October 31, Andrew Copp has been nursing an upper-body injury that has kept him out of the line-up. “We’re expecting Andrew to skate Monday. But we’re going to have to wait three or four probably more days until we get a real, far more definitive timeline on this,” Maurice said. “But he’ll go back on the ice for the IR skate on Monday.” The Jets Head Coach added that he’s seen a lot of improvement in Copp’s game as his first full NHL season progressed. “There were hockey mistakes. There were things you’d like to see him do better, but there weren’t a lot of positional mistakes or thought mistakes on the ice,” said Maurice. “Then the next question is, ‘he understands the game, now how fast can he get?’ He was getting faster, and that line was getting zone time and getting chances to score. His face-off numbers were really improving ... I thought he was on a real nice plane of improvement.” NHL.COM PREVIEW FLYERS (4-6-3) at JETS (8-4-2) Season series: The Philadelphia Flyers won their two games against the Winnipeg Jets in 2014-15. Vincent Lecavalier scored two third-period goals before Jakub Voracek's second goal gave Philadelphia a 4-3 overtime win at MTS Centre on Dec. 21, 2014. A goal and an assist from Wayne Simmonds and 36 saves by Steve Mason led Philadelphia to a 5-2 win at Wells Fargo Center on Jan. 29. Jets team scope: Winnipeg returns home for one game sandwiched between four-game road trips. Coach Paul Maurice canceled practice Friday after a 2-1-1 trip that ended with a 3-2 shootout loss at the Ottawa Senators on Thursday. Maurice has not announced his starting goaltender for Saturday, but he has alternated starts between Ondrej Pavelec and Michael Hutchinson for each of the past eight games; Hutchinson started in the shootout loss at Ottawa. Center Andrew Copp (upper body) remains out. Winnipeg begins a four-game Central Division trip Tuesday against the Minnesota Wild.
  16. The idea that J. Adams gets beat consistently is a ridiculous notion.
  17. In the end..zone...on the good side: - Congrats to K. Bass, rookie guy for achieving that 100 tackle mark. Quite a feat for a guy who couldn't originally crack our PR. - and to J. Westerman for the 2 sacks and tackles last night. Here's hoping he keeps the lead. - DB J. Posey, who had 8 tackles and seemed to be good position all night. Looking good for the secondary. - KR S. Davis, who gave us decent field position all night. No hesitation there. - C. Marshall, again a warrior out there, he just wouldn't go down. - M. Leggett, credited with only 4 sacks but seemed to be all over the place..again. His comment about needing more "jerks" on the team was an eye opener and surprised both Irving and Brown on the post game show. - QB D. Davis, nothing flashy, but very composed, there's something to work with there..finally. His numbers 16-25 for 169 aren't screamingly good, but consider this..they are very Matt Nichol-like without all that "experience" AND,b he had 3 big drops that nullified 3 easy 1st downs and 1 possible TD. He left the game when he tweaked his hamstring late in the game. - protection was better, we out sacked Toronto 4-3, but still... - QB showed he could go downfield, but MB gave him the perfect game plan...to not score a TD, so, like his offence, which is completely predictable and everybody knows what's coming, MB should know what's coming...very soon, we hope. - some of our defensive players kinda took the night off, and you certainly can't do that in a R. Hall defence. Very poor tackling. I'd prefer a more aggressive, "newer-age" defence, but I doubt they'll fire 2 coordinators. Now, for the most exciting time of the year for us Bomber fans...the purge of players and coaches. It's the only thing we have left to look forward to.
  18. When fans call out Adams for not hustling on every play, I guess it means they are at the games and see this for themselves. It's pretty damn hard to see that on TV coverage. Either that or there is that "illusion of truth", where if enough people say it, it must be true. I often fall for that, it's easy to do. Adams, not hustling on every play? Don't know myself, but he may have that reputation. He's served well, but we can do better.
  19. Back to back Westerman!!! Bass at 98 tackles. 99 tackles. Still hate in-game interviews...
  20. 32 yarder to Denmark. 23 yarder to Moore. He found them and got them the ball, 12-17...123 yards at the half. And ya, with a couple of drops.
  21. Davis handling our half-ass offence, at the half, pretty well.
  22. My apologies to bigg jay for starting another game day thread. I thought it was a gif day thread. Combine if necessary..
  23. Because it was in April, it led to the flood.
