Captain Blue got a reaction from Blue-urns in Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
I really don't see a lot to complain about with these hires, but hey maybe I'm just not raging hard enough.
Hogan was very good as the RB coach - good enough to draw praise from players and get the OC promotion. It didn't work out. He's back in a role that he previously excelled at. Seems fine to me. I am sure Osh assessed whether it would be awkward or difficult for Hogan to have a demotion.
Jake Thomas had a lengthy career and most of it was due to his hard work and effort. This was not a man with God-given talent. Those players have to work and perfect their craft to succeed, especially to stick around a while. I could see him being good in this role. Maybe he won't be, who knows. I look forward to hearing about the DL coach after every loss next year.

Condell is a pretty solid hire I think. He crafted some very good offenses in Hamilton previously. Clear upgrade at OC.

Interviewing two proven OC candidates is a pretty strong start. Hope they can nail the hire.
Toronto's approach seems...odd. Aiming high is fine but they seem interested in everyone else's head coaches, interviewed their own assistants, but no other external assistants.

He’s on a 1 year contract. Likely up already. If not close. I think what this says is they moving on.

It sure seems like Osh is doing the very thing so many here said he wouldn't, which is reflect on ways he can improve. Some head coaches are more involved in certain aspects than others. This is seen everywhere in professional football. The easiest example being when an offensive minded head coach lets his DC have full control of that side of the ball, or vice versa. Or when someone gives up play calling to a coordinator (or takes it back). Training camp intensity varies among coaches too. You see stuff like this all the time in the NFL, where some coaches feel like practices are super important and some try to prioritize health more. Sean McVay had Matt Stafford do very little before the regular season.
I guess I'm just trying to figure out what answer would appease people here. If he says that he's not going to change anything he will get blasted. When he provides literal, concrete examples of things he will change he also gets blasted.
If you or anyone else just wants to hate on the guy then that is totally your call. I don't need to change your mind. I just find it funny that some posters have hammered all year that Osh doesn't change or reflect on his work but clearly does.

Is there such thing as a rebuild in the CFL when 6 of 9 teams make the playoffs and most contracts are extremely short?
Roster turnover is huge across the league.

I really don't see this. One of Osh's biggest strengths is seeing what the best version of a player could be. When I first saw Kramdi I wondered what he was doing on the field, but Osh saw what he could be and then he ended up fulfilling that potential.

Not sure what anyone else could want from a press conference. No head coach is going to publicly skewer players or coaches and they aren't going to talk about contracts.
He acknowledged this year wasn't good enough and that the standard remains high. A pretty easy answer but also one every coach will give.

Yeah his answers were more than fine. There were some offside questions in so much as things were asked and answered, or asked and he made it clear he wasn't going to say any more about it, and they kept hounding to the point where DC had to step in and tell them to stop. There's a sense of entitlement, to try and pry information that he clearly wants to keep private. People need to respect that.

Actually didnt care for Hodges little side takes. Osh was pretty straight forward in hes not interested in gm role. Also recognizes that lywasn't good enough and he has to adjust h4is coaching style to be more involved in day yo day coaching

The CFL’s longest-serving head coach, O’Shea was hired by the club on December 4th, 2013 and after signing a three-year extension to remain with the club in 2022, was working on an expiring contract this season, prompting all the speculation.

This guy has been in the job less than a year and already deserves the title of worst commish. I really don't trust him at all to make the league better. In fact I worry he will kill it eventually.
