Space is the Place
So much can change when you are talking about hundreds of years. There could be a nuclear war while you're frozen. Then you get thawed out 50 years later, just long enough to see your wife and kid getting unfrozen across the room. A man enters and kills your wife and steals your baby. Before you can do anything you're re-frozen. Later you wake up again. It's an apocalyptic nuclear wasteland, but humanity is beginning to re-form society. You go looking for your kidnapped son, but learn that things aren't quite as easy as they were when you were frozen...

Guilty until proven innocent? I guess this is the result of having multiple incidents along the same line. However I wouldn't want to see similar action taken against someone facing charges for their first offence. Convictions, sure, but not charges.

What about the Bombers? I imagine they are getting MRI's quickly as well. But they don't have NHL cash to throw around...

2017 NHL Playoffs
If you want to talk about the playoffs then go ahead and say something interesting about the playoffs. No need to be the hall monitor. Does anyone actually think the Leafs are going to pull off the upset? I'm hoping to god that Washington gets it together. I don't think the Leafs would make it past Pittsburgh anyways but I really do not want to see them enjoy any kind of success.

I tore my ACL and MCL in 2005 and I had to wait at least a month for the MRI. Can't remember the exact timeline but it was a pretty long wait.

I like the thread about the guy who went to Reddit to figure out what was wrong with Riderfans and was shocked by their reputation. Really? You didn't know that?

2017 NHL Playoffs
It would be nice to have at least 3 right wingers who can score. Armia seemed to be coming around but there's a good chance we lose him to Vegas. Then what?

I believe we will see both. I hope for the same. Unless we all kill each other, nuclear winter, etc. If intelligent life really was discovered.... woah. I can't even begin to comprehend the ramifications of that. This one is really interesting too. It shows how little we really know about the astronomical bodies that are relatively close to us. Enceladus was basically an afterthought. So that makes me wonder about our discoveries of planets light-years away. How much do we really know?

Two totally different players. Frolik is one of the best forecheckers and penalty killers in the league. Ehlers is a skilled scorer. I love Ehlers but he is no replacement for Frolik.

Very true, but I chalk it up to a lack of players as much as coaching. You could move the Lowry line to the 4th line and call it a shutdown line but then who is your 3rd scoring line? If it includes Nic Petan and Marko Dano I think that's the answer right there.... it's not realistic. However, next year if we can squeeze a scoring line out of Connor, Roslovic, Harkins, Copp, or maybe a free agent or two? Then we're in business.

I know I'm not the only one who likes to read about new planet discoveries and other Space intrigue. We have a new candidate for life-supporting planets, and like all the others, it's the "best one yet." http://www.independent.co.uk/news/science/exoplanet-alien-life-search-for-found-habitable-zone-new-earth-20-signs-cetus-sea-monster-a7691576.html Pretty exciting, really.

Stemp wasn't a huge loss... Frolik was, though.

Bombers Off-Season Transactions
Totally agree. He will be a great fit for the role they tried to make Ryan Smith fill early last season..... short catches behind the LOS attempting to get yards after the catch. Let's be honest, that type of play is going to be a staple while Lapo is here so we might as well find the best guy to run it.

Laine was already here duhhh.... unless we also picked up a clone? Which I would be on board with, to be honest.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad Stafford is gone. But I generally don't subscribe to the "addition-by-subtraction" mentality. OK, Stafford is gone, that's good.... now do we have someone better to take his place? Keeping in mind that younger =/= better.

With Byfuglien they don't really have a choice... what are you going to do, give his icetime to Postma or Nogier? Come on. And Perreault took less penalties than both Scheifele and Ehlers... so who's really kidding themselves here? You're just seeing what you want to see.

God forbid the players actually take it upon themselves to reduce penalties

Pretty interesting. I hate the idea of a star player calling the shots, in terms of management/coaching, but I believe this is basically what happened in Pittsburgh when Bylsma was fired. Honestly I believe the Sabres would be better off without Bylsma and likely Tim Murray as well.

Though he seems to fit in to the top six on a playoff team...

RethinkIng Paul Maurice....
I think it's not really a question. It's more.... Chevy's entire positive reputation is based off having a few high first-round picks finding success in the league. Other than that, he has done next to nothing. In 6 years as GM he has brought in 3 roster players - Armia, Perreault, and Myers. He has not won a playoff game. He has made the playoffs only once. He has never had a post-second round pick make the team, let alone have a real impact. Honestly his record has been pretty pathetic by almost any measure aside from first-round picks.

The AHL program needs work for sure. You can't just have a team full of losers and expect prospects to come out of there flying high with confidence. However I'm not sure that was the rationale for hiring Pascal Vincent, although that's certainly how the fans perceived the move...

RethinkIng Paul Maurice....
Very true. I'd also say Chevy's draft record has been above average but not excellent. If the plan is to build the team exclusively through "draft & develop", then we have to be damn near the best drafting team in the NHL. I give him full marks for nailing his first round picks - Scheifele, Trouba, Morrissey, Ehlers and Laine. Jury is still out on Connor and Roslovic but they look good too. However, there has to be some success in the later rounds as well. Lowry and Copp are good, but nothing more than role-players. I can't help but look at Jake Guentzel... a third round pick for Pittsburgh who put up more than a point per game in the AHL and then continued a similar pace when he came to the NHL mid-season, and is now tearing it up in the playoffs. Where is our Jake Guentzel? If we are going to be full-out draft & develop, we need those kinds of success stories.

The return of Budaj? Just poring over the list of UFA goalies and there aren't too many guys who fit that backup profile. Darcy Kuemper, Peter Budaj, Curtis McElhinney... there are a few younger guys who had good years - Keith Kinkaid, Anders Nilsson, maybe even Jonathan Bernier? But I'm not sure how they will be impacted by the expansion draft.
