  3. OK well tell me who? https://capfriendly.com/browse/free-agents/2018/caphit/all/defense
  4. With the NMC we would have had to trade with VGK to protect Myers which would have been an even steeper cost. Any defenceman drafted 13th overall isn't going to be in the league for 2 years at least. Like Morrissey. Who's to say we still desperately need an LHD 2 years down the road? Needing an LHD right now is irrelevant to the trade. Who's signing here? Who's making 5 mil+ and doesn't have WPG on their no trade list? Really not that simple at all.
  5. Vegas has already said they planned to take lots of defencemen and deal them. The Jets still need a defenceman. Do we take a shot at a guy on an expiring contract and perhaps try to extend him? Or someone else like an RFA? Here is the list: 80% of these guys are left-handed shots. Surely we could get one of them. Is Luca Sbisa worth it if you can get him to extend for a similar contract?
  6. https://d3ham790trbkqy.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/sites/5/2017/06/2017-Depth-Chart-Game-1-vs.-Montreal.pdf SASK depth chart is up. Cam Judge is immediately the backup MLB upon arriving in camp. Jovon Johnson starts at corner. Denzel Radford, a Montreal 6th round pick who Ssk traded for, backs up at receiver. Cam Marshall starts at RB. Jeff Hecht starts at Safety, Dyakowski at guard. God have mercy on Saskatchewan and their poor depleted roster. Looks like they've already been through half a season of injuries with the skeleton crew they are fielding.
  7. Not a huge fan of Karl but let's be honest if he has any options he won't be coming here.
  8. If I had any confidence in our ability to sign good veteran players I'd be okay with it, but the prospect of entering the season with Morrissey - Chiarot - Stuart on the left side scares the living daylights out of me.
  9. Most likely due to me conducting myself like a bit of an ass.
  10. Well... that is a pretty serious drive even for a Canadian.
  11. Fair enough. No one has more intimate knowledge about this than CFL GM's themselves and yet they still make mistakes and bad decisions. Access to information doesn't necessarily mean one's opinion is correct. But I have no interest in ****-measuring about how well-connected we are. You can say we do it exactly the same as every other team, I would disagree and say that there are flaws in our recruitment. The proof is in the pudding as they say.
  12. While I greatly respect your opinion, it's also clear you are hugely biased towards the Bombers and I don't believe you have any more info on this particular facet of the business than I do. And once again, never said ANYONE doesn't do it but instead that we do it more often. Teams like CGY/BC/EDM may run the open camps but not with nearly the same frequency as we do. And consequently they bring in more quality prospects, and that's not up for debate.
  13. Never said the other teams don't run open camps. Also never said you can't find good players at open camps. I believe we simply do it more, and rely upon it more heavily than others and more heavily than we should. But sure, everyone can point at me and tell me I'm so wrong, because look at all the awesome players we bring in. Go Bombers!! Blue and Gold for life!!! Yum-yum kool-aid!
  14. Mostly what's coming out so far are the trades pre-draft. I haven't heard any reports yet about what moves Vegas is making after the draft, which is what we would be interested in.
  15. I never agreed with that argument, and Mack brought in way more quality prospects, IMO, at least in his first 2 years here. It's not that open camps are unusual. It's that we run so damn many of them that's unusual.
  16. None of the good teams operate like that. It's highly unusual that we run totally open free agent camps and charge prospects to come try-out. It's outdated. Most teams run camps but they are invite only, with MAYBE a few open ones in densely populated areas. I'd bet we run the most open camps by far. It has everything to do with everything! It's not like receiver is the only position we struggle to recruit for. Yes we have found some DBs. Every other position group is basically a desert in terms of our recruiting.
  17. That's what happens when you recruit so heavily from open free agent camps. No one else operates that way.
  18. Harris was with the Argos and Chambers comes from the Ticats
  19. Maybe step on the ice sometime and learn the game beyond "durrr high points? means bad defence!!!!"
  20. Wow this has to go in the hall of fame for dumbest ******* thing I've ever read
  21. Singleton?? Seems awfully high. And Kendial Lawrence definitely isn't #5. (JK)
  22. Ugh she looks like a Transcona girl.
  23. People don't seem to realize just how good Buff is in our own end. He can be a bit of a risk taker at times, I concede that, but almost no one is as good at breaking up the play and getting the puck out of our end. Myers is also quite good. With his reach, if the puck gets anywhere near him he is disrupting the play. He had a ton of points in his rookie year and I think for that reason people have pigeon-holed him as a purely offensive guy when this is not even close to being the case. Conversely I think Hamonic is being overrated on a pretty consistent basis. He's a good defenceman. But he is not in the same class as any of our RHD. "Defensive defenseman" is about as complimentary as saying a guy is a good shot-blocker.
  24. Yeah I saw all the Canadian ones and couldn't detect any major differences. I do like that VGK have gone with a unique colour scheme. People were going to criticize it no matter what so that's okay.
