Can say I’ve never seen such an interview of a GM or CEO before. Repeated , “we’ll have to see what opportunities come our way”, is actually feeble.
Underlying belief driving Chevy's presser ... "we're working diligently to get the unicorns, fairies, leprechauns, and happy elves on our payroll next season. This will assure our fans that we won't have any bad juju ruin the clear path to the Stanley Cup this powerful squad is on ..." "Don't let this week upset you, Rick will see things our way soon enough ..."

yes. Absolutely. Maybe what little the team gets is all the players are worth. Everything about this team is mediocre, including chevy’s uninspiring presser. I’ll say it was awful.
Mark Scheifele 62nd in NHL scoring with 68 points. Christ even Martin Necas has more points than 55. And WHO TF is Martin Necas?

I am still amazed that Chevy added only one piece at the trade deadline. Nino was a replacement for Perfetti, so Namestnikov was the only real add.
This is Chevy on cruise control the last 4 or 5 seasons ...

Also … different sports, but does this Jets era (error as Friesen calls it) not remind you of the 2004 Blue Bombers? They were so close and actually should have won the Cup in 2001, but never returned to the glory of that one season. By 2004 Khari Jones had to be traded and their veteran coach, Dave Ritchie finished his time here at seasons end. It was a good team and some parts like Stegall and C Roberts actually helped the new players advance to the Cup in 2007. This Jets team of not quite good enough reminds me of that squad in ways …

The former notion many Jets fans were clinging to that we absolutely needed these guys to succeed, took a big nosedive this season …

After this full season I’m actually not worried about replacing Schief, Wheels, PLD, or even Helle. Will there be short term pain? Yes. But we’ve already seen this group fail in the playoffs for enough seasons now to know we need to start the process of changing the character of this team (not all, but the so called leaders). The time for talking about it is done …

Chevy’s legacy right there in Bone’s words …

It comes down to a combo of top end players, coaching, and management that aren’t quite good enough to get where we’d love them all to be. To be honest, I’m not sure where to start with fixing this franchise and turning them into a contender ..:

Schmidt, KFC, Dubois, have all fought the puck tonight. And of course the worst possible moment for Schmidt again to whiff.

This team, as far as the impending contract expiries, is blown up in the summer. It was sort of nice while it lasted ...

Time to pull this one out ...
