The CFL is tied to Canada as the only professional sports League that is uniquely Canadian. This year’s CFL brand campaign #BringItIn is a nod to the Canadian values that have come to define the CFL through its diversity, inclusiveness and equality. To celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday the CFL will be adding special Canadian visuals to each game being played in Week 2, sharing the stories of Canadians who have impacted the League and kicking off 150 tweets leading up to the nation’s biggest game – the 105th Grey Cup presented by Shaw. All host stadiums – McMahon Stadium in Calgary, BMO Field in Toronto, The Brick Field at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton and Mosaic Stadium in Regina, Saskatchewan – will have special CFL-branded #Canada150 field paintings to commemorate the country’s sesquicentennial. Each game will also feature a specially-made custom Wilson game ball with a CFL Canada 150 logo and red laces (instead of the traditional white laces) to be used for pre-game warmups and during the opening kickoff as well as kickoff for the second half of each game. Other elements to be incorporated: HELMET DECALS: the CFL has distributed specially-designed Canada 150 helmet decals to all teams to be worn on helmets all year long. SPECIAL SIDELINE APPAREL: the CFL has unveiled custom “Legendary Canadian” t-shirts to all teams that feature a notable Canadian player (selected by individual teams) to be worn on the sidelines for non-playing personnel as well as during interviews and/or day before walkthroughs. CFL.ca will publish digital profile pieces on each player and of those wearing these iconic “Legendary Canadian” shirts to share their stories and impressions of Canada, as well as their hopes for the future of our country and our league. Stories will be published online on Tuesday June 27. I always hate when people say Fuhr was overrated because of the scoring in front of him....that guy might have done more with the least defense than anyone. Their D pinched so much, he was constantly facing odd-man situations...only way you could get away with cheating that much offensively was to have a superstar 'tender back there to bail you out...

Former university football star Ashton Dickson fatally shot in Ottawa OTTAWA - A Nova Scotia university says a former star running back with the Antigonish school's football team has been killed in a shooting in Ottawa. St. Francis Xavier's athletics department tweeted condolences on Monday to Ashton Dickson's family and friends. Ottawa police say Dickson, 25, died at the scene of a shooting early Monday. Investigators say officers were called to Rideau Street around 1 a.m. to investigate reports of a shooting. They say patrol officers found Dickson injured at the scene. Dickson, an Ottawa native, was nominated for the Hec Crighton Trophy, awarded to the most outstanding player in Canadian university football, in 2015. (The Canadian Press)

I have been a rabid Grant Fuhr fan my whole life. I wore 31 through a lot of minor hockey. Read his "Grant Fuhr On Goaltending" book on the ride to away games and tournaments all the time. When he was suspended for drugs, I was 10 years old and INCREDIBLY upset....I remember tearing his poster off the wall. Now, as an adult, having read everything that went on with that team, I have a much better understanding. The entire TEAM were "partiers" and were just bonkers around the city. Fuhr just happened to be the guy that got busted, but it really could have been any of them. Even Gretz. It was the 80s...they were rock stars in a small market.....of course they were doing blow!

My understanding is that the biggest issue with Vesalainen is "attitude" related. There were some questions about the interviews he gave during meetings with various NHL teams. Likely a "unique" personality, but the talent will hopefully trump that...

I snorted right out loud....was a good line. As for the game, reffing/replay aside, it was at least exciting. Two teams I absolutely despise, but I enjoyed watching it purely for entertaining CFL football.
