  1. the two new cases are a man in his 20s and another in his 30s. A trucker and an associate of the trucker...
  2. I don't think CC leaving has anything to do with the CFL and it's future. It's purely the opportunity to be in the biggest chair for the biggest sport in this country. And likely a very very big paycheque.
  3. Even as a panel host, replacing Rod Smith, who could jump to a more full time PBP role. I'd be okay with that, I think. But again, none of those guys... Smith, Miller, Black.... Are getting any younger. It's a balance, because you need someone old enough to have experience, but also young enough to not seem like the crypt keeper in the booth....
  4. Brian Williams is 107 years old and doesn't do PBP. Cripes. They need newer, younger blood. Getting Neilson out of U of A was an interesting move because you have to start grooming people. You know who's an interesting thought is a guy like Darrin Bauming. Doesn't he do some Bisons PBP or am I crazy? I wonder if he has aspirations for the big leagues...
  5. Okay, so I've taken a moment and had a couple of thoughts on this. Being in broadcasting and being a ridiculous sports fan like the rest of you, these sorts of things (sports broadcasting) hit home for me........ -Derek Taylor is gaining experience as a CFL PBP guy now, and has TSN experience. Could be someone they reach out to. -By the same token, I wonder if they reach out to Rod Pedersen. I know what we all think of him, but for some reason he has a lot of goodwill built up in CFL circles and has a lot of years of CFL PBP experience. Curious if he's a name passed around. -Wondering if there's anyone currently at Sportsnet that might get plucked to come over to TSN..... a name I thought about was Dave Randorf, who really wanted to do NHL PBP, so he left TSN to go do that for S'Net once they got the contract. But he has some CFL background and I'm curious if he'd come back to TSN to do a similar role to Cuthbert (both hockey and football PBP)...
  6. Absolutely brutal for TSN. By far the best CFL PBP guy. What in the actual hell are they gonna do to replace him. If Rod Black is the new A guy, that's tough for us. Gord Miller is likely their best PBP right now, with Rod Smith second. The kid from the U of A will get more time now but he's not ready yet.
  7. ha ha - always appreciate you, buddy!
  8. I'm an awful human being that cheers for both and looks between my fingers when they play each other....
  9. Until recently, watching Bombers games at McMahon over the last 13 years has been hell on a number of levels........
  10. Ugh. I was really hoping the jokes would be unnecessary. The guy might not have been a superstar, but he was a quality Canadian foot soldier who wore Blue and Gold for awhile. He deserves at least a semi-respectful tip of the cap for his retirement. Thanks for the service!
  11. Sam Hurl announces retirement....
  12. would love to see the MB active case load at 0 by July. Keep on kickin' ass, MB. Also of great value to me, Roussin talked about how they might loosen the inter-provincial restrictions (no 14 day isolation requirement) "by jurisdiction", so theoretically, I could come home from AB without needing to isolate for 14 days. Still have hope for end of summer!
  13. okay, not EVERYONE in EVERY town........but........south of Red Deer = Stamps/Riders...... Red Deer+North = Esks/Riders.......... for anyone that's actually a CFL fan.
  14. thank you, sir...... *edit* .......after checking them out. It just seems weird. I have the EastMan one because it's where I'm from, and I might get a Parkland/WestMan one to rep my time in those areas, but I dunno....seeing all the Alberta cities/towns with a big Bombers logo overlapping. Just seems super weird, because all of those places are diehard Stamps/Esks/Riders.....
  15. I honestly thought the plate was a joke when I first saw it a couple weeks ago. I mean, who didn't recognize that "B0000000" looks like "BOOOOO"?? Cripes. But hopefully it gets ignored for the most part...
  16. As we should be well into TC by now, here's some good TC stories from our pal Tait.... https://www.bluebombers.com/2020/05/31/column-memories-training-camps-past/
  17. At least find a way to keep those very different groups away form each other...
  18. I had no idea Broadbeck jumped from the Sun to the FreeP. That explains a lot...
  19. I was gonna say, if Broadbeck of all people is on the sane side of things, you know it's serious....
  20. ....if there's a God....
  21. .....basically they want to play exhibition games against CFL teams in the States, which is insane, and Naylor basically laughed at it. I'm not sure what exactly we have to gain from any of it except money, if they're going to pony up a whole bunch. Those guys want in on our TV exposure for their players, I think...
  22. Larry Arugala with the leg........
  23. Okay, now c'mon...that's just funny. Like, classic-era Simpsons funny......
  24. Yeah, my first thought was that 41 cases isn't that bad....but we all know how quickly this thing can spread and get out of control again.
  25. https://www.sportsnet.ca/football/cfl/cfl-owners-not-unanimous-playing-shortened-2020-season/ In an interview Thursday with an Edmonton radio station, CFL commissioner Randy Ambrosie explained that his latest focus will be determining a “go-no go date” on a 2020 CFL season. Multiple sources have told Sportsnet, however, that there are some franchises in the league unsure at the moment on whether or not to proceed with playing games at all this year. Those sources say there are at least two privately-run teams that have expressed reservations about going forward with a reduced schedule this fall under the present circumstances. Ambrosie said last week the league was exploring plans of potentially beginning a modified run of games beginning in September. The belief is that the CFL’s community-run franchises – in Saskatchewan, Edmonton and Winnipeg – are on-board with getting some kind of football in to help with their bottom line. Those three organizations do not have the benefit of a single owner who can write cheques to cover financial losses. On the other hand, Montreal, B.C., Calgary, Ottawa, Hamilton and Toronto are privately-run franchises. Ambrosie’s latest comments came on 630 CHED, where he told host Morley Scott that he has been asked by presidents and owners of the CFL franchises to “really focus” on when the league’s drop-dead date on this season would be. “I have been challenged to come back to the governors with a recommendation on our ‘go-no go’ date,” Ambrosie told Scott on Thursday. As Sportsnet first reported last week, the CFL created a return to play committee – which includes doctors, immunologists and other specialists – and they have presented a model featuring two hub cities for the league’s nine teams to be based out of. The system unveiled by the committee was thorough from a health and wellness standpoint, complete with a comprehensive series of testing protocols and detail on cleaning and sanitation. While that may be the best way to proceed medically, team and league sources do not believe this format is economically viable. To help on the financial side, the league continues to lobby the federal government for up to $150 million in funding. Things had been relatively quiet between the CFL and Ottawa since May 11, but over the last two days there was contact with two departments that had been previously untapped. There was communication on the league’s behalf with Aneil Jaswal, a senior policy advisor to the Minister of Finance, both Wednesday and Thursday. On Thursday, there was also communication on the CFL’s behalf with Kyle Nicholson, a senior policy advisor for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, and with Olga Radchenko, a policy advisor for IRCC. There have been five Members of Parliament known to have had contact with the CFL, and in most cases specifically with Ambrosie. There has also been communication on the league’s behalf with at least two members of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s cabinet: on May 11 with Minister of Justice David Lametti, and on April 6 with Catherine McKenna, the Minister of Infrastructure and Communities.
