  1. This isn't the one I referenced, but it is *A* interesting oral history, anyhow... https://thehockeynews.com/news/article/greatest-games-the-golden-goal-no-5-international-game
  2. Honestly, if it's us, I'm not even mad. Whatever it took to win the cup was 100% worth any penalties we might incur...
  3. I'm not a Crosby fan at all, but I remember reading a sort of "oral history" thing about that game, and Ryan Miller (USA tender) talking about what messed him up for that goal. He said most guys will look up after taking the pass and pick their spot, but Crosby never looked up. He took the pass and knew exactly where was going with it without needing to look at the target. Said there's less than a handful of people in the world who could have done that. What I remember most about that game, aside from the incredible party we had, was Toews scoring the opening goal of the game. So much hustle from him in that entire Olys...he had a MASSIVE 2010 year, that guy.
  4. Twitter is the one social medium that I'm a fan of.....FB/Insta and anything else can rot in hell
  5. Darren Cameron said mid April on Twitter this morning.
  6. Wade talked about this on OB the other night....unbelievably jacked. Getting a STH buddy of mine to take advantage of the early pre-buy window for single game tix and get me a couple. Can't imagine missing this....what a night it's going to be!
  7. I think EVERYONE is on board with this..... everything I've read online suggests people like this. The whole "1st picks opponent" thing was Wade's idea, and he's really beating the drum for it, but I can't see it ever being a thing. This idea that we need a circus to draw attention goes against everything I believe in as a Canadian. Just be cool, man....keep it low key.
  8. Well, he asked Collaros about Tasker, anyhow....Collaros said he's put the bug in Walters ear about it. Really likes Tasker and thinks he'd be a fit. I say no thanks unless it's league minimum and he's only coming in to fight for a job.
  9. Sask being ranked 3rd early on is insanity. That team could just as easily be a 5 win team this year...
  10. Another thing that's important, the greatest reporters don't give out all the info they have. You build credibility and trust with the organization by keeping a lot of things under your hat. Being in a rush to be the first guy to give out info you're not supposed to (injury and money stuff) is a quick way to getting yourself blackballed by the team. When the team has exciting stuff coming and they wanna leak info, the first guy they'll go to is the guy they trust.
  11. So because Irving doesn't tweet salary numbers, he's not connected? There's so many things wrong with your line of thinking...
  12. Did you miss that this was a thing this past summer? Milt and Dunigan (laughing) talked about it on a pre-game show on TSN.....
  13. This is 100% false. Nobody is more "in tune" than Irving. In fact, several times in the past couple years, he has broken major stories a day before info became public. I'm certain that, as the house broadcaster, he's given scoops before anyone else.
  14. He was with TSN T.O. but he wanted to stay in Wpg, I believe. Yes, TSN Wpg could probably offer him a bunch of money to go across teh street, but I really think he's happy with OB. He does well...
  15. not sure what week of the season it is, but June 26th is the Home Opener vs Calgary. I'm coming home for this and praying that I can get tix as soon as they go on sale...
  16. Hansen blowing up two guys on a return will give me a rager for the rest of my days....
  17. DB97 does use too many big words where something more conversational would suffice, but he's a PHENOMENAL analyst for the broadcast and a quality co-host as well. He's still young enough to be in tune with the guys on the field and knows what's going on in the room. He's also just a good dude...someone you could sit and have a beer with (tho I believe he prefers scotch), which is crucial.
  18. yikes...they don't let you do the "it's funny that you might be gay" jokes anymore.....
  19. I haven't had the chance to listen to Hal in the afternoons, but I do enjoy their Morning Show. Living in AB, I don't get to listen as often as I'd like, but I'll occasionally tune in online or via RadioPlayerCanada app, and I've really enjoyed Mackling/McGarry/McNabb when I've listened...
  20. Walby is great....the rest of it......no thank you. Especially DB....he's trying, God love him, but he's just not ready yet. Respect his passion for sure, but.....nope. Westwood has kind of turned into a cartoon character, I feel.
  21. Yes, in fairness, i'm only 39, but old-template radio pays my mortgage, so I'll always go to bat for it. But I'm also a huge fan of CJOB and have been since I was a teenager. (I have forever been a senior) I used to listen to Peter Warren call in stuff while I was working my summer job in my late teens. I worship Knuckles. During CFL months, the Knucks-Tait-Brown pre-game on CJOB is maybe the thing I look forward to most each and every week. It's just fantastic radio. My wife, who is all of 32, has become a massive fan of the full CJOB broadcast, and sitting around listening to the post-game interviews with players has become one of her favourite things. Okay, old man ranting done for now....
  22. this is amazing...really glad to see this angle of the 2.0 thing is working out for some. I feel like this aspect has been widely overlooked.
