  1. I thought Wheeler looked fine and when he "out ran" the defender on the empty net goal, it was a surprising amount of speed/effort for a guy his age...
  2. this statistic should be plastered on billboards all over southern Manitoba right now and any other place where there's crazy anti-vaxxers.....
  3. I fully believe that once we get through this current wave of the pandemic, we're going to be through it for good. People will be vaccinated to protect us against future waves. Manitoba is the last province to see the crest of the wave, and once they're through it, things are going to look pretty good across the country. We'll start looking like the States are right now. I really believe that's about a month or two away. Labour Day CFL start is still very much in play, if not a certainty....
  4. Just in case any of you wanted to know what life is like in Alberta right now.........
  5. Alberta Health is dealing with a situation whereby people are booking vaxx appts with no intention of using them, hoping to prevent people from getting the shot and that the vaccines will expire and be thrown out. Got a message from a former co worker of mine in Winkler that said MB Health in southern Manitoba (Winkler specific) are having the same problem on an even larger scale. I am absolutely sickened by this....
  6. coming soon -- COVID was raging out of control. Word on the street is 2nd round of playoffs (should they make it that far) would see fans in stands. As long as the numbers keep trending in the right direction...
  7. nah, it's trending the right way for most of Canada. Manitoba is in the absolute worst of it right now, and they're the last province to see this part of the pandemic. It's going to start looking MUCH better within weeks. I feel, based on vaccine uptake, we're going to be looking really good for a Labour Day start at the very latest....
  8. Refs kept the whistles pocketed, as they should for a playoff game. Someone's limb better be missing for a penalty to be called.
  9. Have absolutely felt this. Here's the best thing I can tell you, from someone who was in your exact spot a couple weeks ago: This is going to pass SOON. Just hang on a little bit longer. You're in the worst of it right now, but in just a couple of weeks, this is going to pass, and things are going to start trending in the other direction FAST. Alberta was there, where you guys are now, and we have (knock on wood) got it under control, with numbers sliding down fast. Just hang tight for a couple more weeks...this is the last of it. With every vaccine injection, you're a baby step closer to the very end....
  10. After my year and a half living down there, it's all the same to me. You get south of the #1 and it's all bible thumping crazy people. Even Morden, that likes to think they're the "normal" one......nah.....it's all crazy down there.
  11. related: A couple weeks ago in Calgary, they were handing out "Freedom Bullets" at an anti-mask/vaxx/"lockdowns" rally:
  12. Show your work...... The only argument that I'll listen to is that we should have found a way to manufacture vaccines at home so that we could have had them earlier. Otherwise, the Federal vaccine rollout has been a raging success, with our aggressive 1-dose to as many as possible strategy being raved about by virtually every other advanced nation.
  13. there's a real problem in the bible belt south of the Trans Can.....vast majority of people not getting vaxxed. They need to find a way to get that done...
  14. so I just discovered this today.... it really misses the whistle solos of the original, but it's still really solid, as most Cornell things are..........
  15. really hoping all these awful Con govt's in charge provincially get tossed at the next election. Never forget how badly they handled things...
  16. Alberta will approve it for sure. They will approve ANYTHING.... right now it's just about optics for them. But I have zero doubts that Alberta will be among the first (if not THE FIRST) to sign off on having the CFL fire up with fans in the stands.
  17. Helle stole one.... Team played generally well defensively. At some point McJesus is gonna take over and this is gonna be a long series, but Goddamit this was fun to watch. I'd hoped for OT... 7 games of multiple OTs is what these two great teams deserve.... But it was a fun game. Refs kept the whistles tucked... Just how I like it. Playoff hockey... Great goaltending on both sides. Bounces went Jets way tonight.
  18. Like the incompetent and heartless assholes they are, Alberta decided today that they're going to send kids back into classrooms on Tuesday after the long weekend. By far the single biggest thing bringing AB numbers down had been kids out of school. So we're gonna send em back and now entire families will get sick and continue to pressure the health system, as our Hospitalization and ICU numbers remain at record highs...
  19. McDavid calls come from him being so much faster than even the next fastest guy in the league. Ends up drawing a lot of hooks, trips, slashes and interference... He also takes a ton of abuse that doesn't get called. He's just much less of a whiner than Crosby.
  20. They won their last two going into playoffs!! What do you want exactly? I mean if you wanna talk about urgency, the Jets won 2 and the Oilers lost miserably in their final game....
  21. Yeah, I'd agree... the fact that they're playing games, and the Jets can't eve be bothered to start their series until tonight proves to me that they just don't care as much as everyone else.
  22. More and more, I think people are realizing that our aggressive "1st dose to as many as possible" strategy is a winning one....
  23. ha ha no, not that one......but I do watch live broadcasts of guys fishing sometimes. I'm a big fan of Keewatin's Jeff "Gussy" Gustafsson, who competes on the Bass Master Elite Series Tour in the US, and they have actual live TV coverage of that (it's kinda similar to golf coverage) and can't believe how addicting it is to watch....yeeeesh. Friggin' bass fishing on TV (actually on my laptop, because it's online...)
  24. Wiebe is the GOAT for YouTube guys. Jay is solid, if a little bit "Magoo" at times. Clayton Schick, also a part of their "shared universe" is solid, and Tom Boley (Wisconsin guy) might be the best overall fisherman of all of them, and has solid vids. Congrats on the property up north...that's the dream! I'm perpetually on the hunt for work in The Shield so I can fish every single damn day of my life....
