  1. yikes...they don't let you do the "it's funny that you might be gay" jokes anymore.....
  2. I haven't had the chance to listen to Hal in the afternoons, but I do enjoy their Morning Show. Living in AB, I don't get to listen as often as I'd like, but I'll occasionally tune in online or via RadioPlayerCanada app, and I've really enjoyed Mackling/McGarry/McNabb when I've listened...
  3. Walby is great....the rest of it......no thank you. Especially DB....he's trying, God love him, but he's just not ready yet. Respect his passion for sure, but.....nope. Westwood has kind of turned into a cartoon character, I feel.
  4. Yes, in fairness, i'm only 39, but old-template radio pays my mortgage, so I'll always go to bat for it. But I'm also a huge fan of CJOB and have been since I was a teenager. (I have forever been a senior) I used to listen to Peter Warren call in stuff while I was working my summer job in my late teens. I worship Knuckles. During CFL months, the Knucks-Tait-Brown pre-game on CJOB is maybe the thing I look forward to most each and every week. It's just fantastic radio. My wife, who is all of 32, has become a massive fan of the full CJOB broadcast, and sitting around listening to the post-game interviews with players has become one of her favourite things. Okay, old man ranting done for now....
  5. this is amazing...really glad to see this angle of the 2.0 thing is working out for some. I feel like this aspect has been widely overlooked.
  6. I get the whole "look at the big picture" thing, but I'm a fan...I want to see the team win. No matter what....just win, baby.
  7. Well the shows are available in podcast form after the fact, so all the ******* millennials expecting access to everything as soon as they want it and for free, can have it. But for me, the content you get from CJOB stuff is worth the ad breaks. The only thing shitty about CJOB stuff is the phone-in stuff. **** are the "fan" phone ins brutal. That's when I shut it off. But if it's Irving interviewing someone or bullshitting with co-hosts, then it's golden...
  8. I really feel like that's over stated. Yes they have to have commercials to pay the bills (it's friggin popular, so they can sell what they want for however much they want) but there's a ton of great content from the absolute best in the biz. This mid winter special is something I dearly look forward to every year at this time. Can't freaking WAIT...
  9. if only because there is nobody to compete against. She's been repping them since Juniors...there's nobody else. Same with Jacobs...not that he isn't good, but he's got no competition. Meanwhile, the Manitoba ladies division features the best 3 teams in the country right now in terms of CTRS points.
  10. ftr, I fully respect everyone's opinion and taste when it comes to the broadcasting of a CFL game, but I'm bored and I could discuss this topic all day. Ha ha. As you were....
  11. last time I listened to them they had that Mike Hogan guy doing it...and he was awful. Most of the East ones I've heard were via SiriusXM....
  12. I'm curious which team's broadcast you like better than the Bombers. Also don't buy the "Irving doesn't have a sense of humour" thing. First, a PBP guy is supposed to be relatively serious. That's the gig. Second, if you listen to the pre-game stuff with Irving/Brown/Tait, they're spending that whole time joking around, and it's fabulous. I personally don't get the need for a PBP guy to be "zany". The colour guy can be loud and brash and opinionated (but don't go over the top...because you lose credibility) but the PBP guy has to be "staid" for lack of a better term. I've listened to virtually every other broadcast team in the CFL, and it's actually embarrassing how bad some of them are. Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal....just God awful.
  13. Irving is a professional....in fact, the consummate professional. Unarguably the very best at what he does...
  14. tl/dr: "I can't do it, so it's ****" It works for sure....probably not for club curlers, but for the pros that know how....definitely works.
  15. Definitely not that, but I wouldn't cry if you guys would get to -30 every day from now until then. LW is always froze up till May. It's the truck access to places like Caddy and West Hawk that concerns me...
  16. Yeah, it's not the new brushes (they all have to use the exact same ones now) but the new WAY of brushing. It's called "Directional Sweeping", and it really does work. They can actually sweep it to curl more OR less, depending on what they need.
  17. one month and I'll be out there!! Counting down the days. Splitting our honeymoon into two fishing trips. One ice trip for a week at the end of March, with a couple days on Big Windy. Then another trip in the summer at a camp near Kenora. Weeeeeoooooooooooooo I can't wait for some March Madness on Peggy!
  18. not really a miracle...she's been better than both teams all year. Top 3 teams in Canada: Fleury -- Einar -- Jones. Kerri's been due for awhile...nice to see her break through.
  19. She didn't curl BADLY but Jones definitely did. Whole team was ****. So Homan had it easy.
  20. Ugh. ******* Homan beats Jones today. Desperately wanted an all MB final to make it anxiety free... Now we'll be on the edge of our seats praying for Einar today. Anyone but Homan, seriously...
  21. Tasker is a washed up Woogie......just feels redundant. I want to find ways to get Petey on the field....not take up more space with has-beens...
