  1. come on now, Khari at OC wouldn't be terrible. He did good in Hamilton at the position.
  2. yeah the new offence excuse doesn't fly when you have trouble hanging onto the ball. If you can't catch then you're not much of a receiver.
  3. Really seems like someone somewhere got enamoured with his size and potential ability to block that they figured he was a natural at slotback... I want Etienne back cause at least Etienne hangs onto the ball when it comes to him.
  4. ABT anyone but tim.
  5. He never did. He got the job after the previous got was fired and they just decided to keep him on.
  6. every qb that's worth a damn will throw a ball up and trust the receiver to out play the defensive back. Every single one of them. Why would you not? That's why you want the athletic receivers, so that they can win those battles.
  7. Hate to say it but, they are still playing hard for him, just their mistakes holding them back now. they never started playing hard for him. Playing hard and making plays are two different animals. Can't blame it all on the coaching, the players haven't delivered either when the opportunities have been there. Have to clean house, coaches and players, the talent just isn't their to win on a consistent basis. What I would say, is that the players never played for Burke and they've only started playing hard the last couple weeks cause they're trying to save their own jobs. I mean 52-0 in Burkes first outing as head coach... yeah the players never bought into him as head man. How many blowouts have there been since he got the job? Now finally with the end of the season in sight a lot of people have realized that if they don't show something they'll be out of a job and are actually giving a damn. Talent is not the big problem on this team, the worst coaching staff in ages is.
  8. As much as it might be hard to admit, going for the field goal was the right given that it would have been third and ten. Take the points and be down 3. The D was playing pretty good to that point and you'd have to trust that we'd get the ball back with time to shoot for another field goal to tie it.I disagree, kicking the field goal is playing for a tie. The position on the field the Bombers were in You gotta try and score the touchdown and even if you don't make it you're still down by 6 with plenty of time to get the ball back and win. As it ended up they were still down by 6 when they got the ball back. you're sitting at 3 wins on the season might as well go out trying to win rather than playing the passive game, epsecially when the offense was actually marching pretty well on the drive. If you go for it on third and ten and don't convert your still down by 6. The following possession for TO resulted in a field goal meaning we would have been down by 9 at that point. Therefore we wouldn't have had the same shot to win the game at the end as we did. but at the time you make the decision you assume your defense is going to step up and prevent a score. I'll take my chances with a defense when the turnover might occur that deep in the argos own end.
  9. Hall is a good qb if he has time. If his throws are rushed then they're up for grabs.
  10. well we've had 3 quarterbacks win games for us this year.... I'm going to stand by my opinion that Winnipegs #1 problems are coaching related and not talent related.

  13. I don't think we lack talent at DB. They've played some damned good games this season, they've also played some damned poor ones, but to me when you have such a wide range of their level of play it comes down to coaching failing to put them in positions to succeed each and every week.
  14. Iso is just a bit of a drama queen. I go after him as much as anything and I can assure you it's nothing personal. If I see something I don't agree with I will argue with it, I don't really care who the poster is.
  15. But he's on TV! TSN won't just hire any fool.... oh wait...
  16. I'll go with Owens. Betting against the Bombers seems to work.
  17. I think it's closer to half a decade no?
  18. I hear Joe Mack is available.....
  19. He's already said he would bring in a qb coach if he's here next season. I don't think we can take anything Burke says seriously anymore. He's become famous for saying something then changing his mind later.
  20. but this is the major sticking point... There's still a chance they retain Walters and Burke which is just more of the same hiring the cheapest option and hoping for the best. The Bombers haven't shown any sort of changes at all except that Walters is more willing to get into trade talks than the last guy was. That's not a lot.
  21. oh? Tell me what they are cause to me it seems like business as usual here from a players perspective. We don't know who the GM will be, we don't know who will be coaching, there's still no established star veteran players here, all we've done is trade a veteran qb for a backup receiver and trade arguably our top defensive player for a backup offensive lineman. How soon we forget the firings and placement of personnel that is the first step in plugging the dyke. That sent a massive shockwave throughout the league...people took notice. And it seems you're talking about our player's perspectives I was answering about outside our club. Some of the moves you mentioned just don't happen at this time of year...that gets noticed as well. It's quite obvious changes are on the horizon, but I agree the biggest and boldest moves are yet to come, What will cause FAs to consider Winnipeg as a viable team? 1) Snagging a "big name" starting QB. 2) Naming our next GM 3) Announcing who our next coach will be. I think what you're confusing is showing other GMs that Winnipeg wants to do business and showing players. Cause if I was a player I'd still see a team without a GM or coach right now, with a history of losing records, a team that fires a lot of coaches causing lots of turmoil... There is a hell of a lot of work to do to show players around the league that things are changing and it starts with hiring someone at GM or coach or both who has the ability to convince people that things are stable.

  23. well the logic would be getting the veteran who has proven himself for years vs. a guy who may or may not be able to become a full time starter.
  24. Hall is a guy who needs that extra bit of time. If he tries to rush his throws it's up for grabs by the defense, if he can throw it properly yeah he doesn't have the strongest arm but he can be pretty accurate.
  25. Dunno if you know or not but he also posts here from time to time.
