  1. Cool. This should be a good signing. Get an established vet to be the leader of the offense, having some experience playing with our Willy is a bonus as well.
  2. The info he needs is "Will anyone else give me more money?"
  3. Dressler probably knows this is likely his last big deal so he wants to maximize it so he's waiting for everyone to give him money rather than taking the first good offer he gets. Patience people.
  4. So what you are saying is that there are a variety of reasons for guys to sign places in free agency? Doesn't that totally contradict your previous post?
  5. No what those movies tried to tell us was that guys like Stallone were upset that studios got actual real talented actors to get in shape and act the **** out of roles rather than giving them to jacked guys who can't talk so good.
  6. You know what I feel better about the talent on the OL than receivers especially with Moore not being back. Receiver just might be the spot we are most lacking. I like Denmark but he can't be our best guy and I don't have a terribly high opinion of Adams. Canadians are OK but not game breakers so they need to be surrounded by guys who can be that.
  7. Going to either Calgary or Winnipeg is the best case scenario. Either way the gappers are going to be pitch a fit.
  8. TJH wasn't really a flash in the pan, he just let a bad attitude destroy what could have been a nice career. Carr I do think made a mistake taking the big money deal. Once you get paid like that expectations are different and you become a target if you don't produce enough to warrant the money. If he had stayed in Winnipeg I wonder if his career wouldn't have worked out differently.
  9. But you clearly are letting incorrect opinions cloud your vision. Anyone who watches RNH knows he's not a soft player. Not a banger? Sure but few guys actually are. He'll muck it up though and go to hard areas. That's not soft no matter how you spin it. With your parroting of stupid crap like he's a soft floater you are slamming him. Of course he's not in the same teir as the guys I mentioned, I took extreme examples to prove a point. You know who is soft among the Oilers top forwards? Eberle and Purcell that's it. The rest of them will mix it up but they have better things to do than run around trying to be third line grinders. You surround them with some actual defencemen and some grit in the bottom 6 and no one complains at all about their softness. Let us not also discount their seasons being coached by Dallas Eakins, a man who said that a perfect game you throw no hits. That's the kind of coaching these guys have had to unlearn.
  10. You don't like good players? You just eliminated a lot of guys. Patrick Kane doesn't play that way, Sidney Crosby doesn't play that way, Pavel Datsyuk doesn't play that way.... it's a bullshit excuse that people like to trot out when they don't know enough about the game to form real opinions. Just slam people without any evidence at all. "He's too soft! Not good enough for my team!!!" Fact is if RNH stepped onto the Jets tomorrow he'd be the teams best centre.
  11. probably gave him an incentive laden contract, and given how Jones has shown a willingness to cut players popularity be damned I'm thinking Durant didn't have a leg to stand on in the negotiations
  12. That's why I told you to go watch the kid actually play. The media likes to parrot this idea that the Oilers players are all a bunch of pansies who couldn't find their own end of the rink if they had a map, it's just not true at all. RNH especially is a very responsible two way centre who back checks hard and makes a lot of plays defensively. Has since his 2nd year in the league. That's why his offense hasn't ever matched his pace in his rookie year. In his rookie year he was sheltered and could just play O, ever since then though he's had to be the guy to match other teams top lines. Did you know that last season teams started to match their best players away from RNH? Do you think soft floaters get hurt blocking shots like RNH did? Since you like sportsnets anaylsis maybe go dig up the pre-game bit they did last night showing the highlight pack of RNH busting his ass to break up plays on the back check and their conversation about how the Oilers will miss him defensively more than anything... and lo and behold they gave up 6 goals last night with him out of the line up. He is the most chippy of the forwards Edmonton has drafted. Eberle sure he's a softer player but RNH ain't and never has been. He was skinny when he was drafted but he's up to a pretty average weight now.
  13. plus with the dollar being in the shitter things are going to be pricey anyway.
  14. You should try watching RNH play some time because you clearly have never done so in the past if that is your assessment of the player.
  15. He'd never have made it to FA last year?
  16. Is he? Or would he like so many before him get exposed without the support of the guys in Nashville ahead of him? That's arguably the best D in the league he came from and Edmonton is arguably the worst. Lots of guys asked to do too much there had their careers diminished because of it. Meanwhile RNH can actually handle playing top line centre and still has some upside to his game as well.
  17. and yet I know the people you generally watch movies with and this sentence makes no sense....
  18. I'd rather he be the 4th option.
  19. It's pretty simple, Moore straight up hurt too much, Denmark has always been a complimentary guy, too much attention on him from a D and he's not as good and Adams is lazy and not as good as people wanted him to be. The solution is MOAR TALENT!
  20. He was our best receiver and it wasn't really close, the only problem with him was that he couldn't stay healthy. Was worth paying him if not for his lack of health, not sure what the obsession is with the TDs, as I said, that was a team wide problem.
  21. He was on pace for 1100 yards basically in each season he was here.... that is good production when healthy. The entire team was allergic to the endzone, that's why we lost so many games so why get down on just moore for low td stats? That was a team wide problem but Moore was reliable in getting this team yards and helping at least move down the field.
  22. That depends on who you listen to. Some people say the Oilers didn't want to give him up, some people say there was a lot of talk about it but the Preds preferred the taller heavier player. The truth likely lies somewhere in the middle. I'd suspect that it wasn't a 1 for 1 swap being talked about between Nashville and Edmonton because the Oilers really are in no position to be trading a guy like RNH for potential on defense. They really lack depth that I don't think people realize. Sure they might appear to have depth at C when everyone is healthy, but McDavid still isn't back yet and that leaves them with Draisaitl and then someone like Letestu playing 2C because of an injury. Not a good situation. The Oilers really do lack everything other than their first round guys so to part with one they need to win the trade, they don't have depth anywhere to move a piece for a need because it just leaves more holes.
  23. Let's be honest here, this team could use a veteran presence on the offense pretty badly. Potential is all well and good but you need someone who can show the youngsters how to be a pro. You think it's a coincidence that Terrence Edwards turned into a good one? He learned from Stegall what it took.
  24. If nothing else Marvel has done a great job casting people so I'd say give the kid a chance and we might have a good spiderman.
  25. Sarcasm? Friend or family of Adams? Adams himself? Delusional?? Need to know which it is so I can respond accordingly. Adams was not nearly good enough last year.
