  1. But he is more than a returner. Which is the point. He is an excellent multi dimensional player with the stats to back it up. I dont like the silliness either to to fluff him off as an average player who's being overrated is assinine. Kendial Lawrence is as much an offensive weapon in Edmonton as he is a returner... Banks is just another run of the mill kick returner who takes some offensive snaps. There are tons of those guys in the league. Most of them don't cry like a spoiled brat when a penalty brings back a return.
  2. yeah we'll just re-route whatever we need to through the main deflector dish and solve all our problems. GIve me a break. Star Trek is as much fantasy as Star Wars is. The real difference between the two is that Star Trek, at least the original series and the early years of next generation were really focussed on examining humanity. Trying to separate science fiction and science fantasy is pointless. sci-fi, fantasy, horror, all these things are just window dressing. It's the stories that make a difference. Star Trek being an episodic tv show has a different focus than star wars which was always intended to be a space adventure.
  3. Oh god are you one of the people who thinks there should be a difference? To me that is a ridiculous idea that science fiction and science fantasy should be separate because there's less sciencey sounding mumbo jumbo in one.
  4. You'll get more from a goalie prospect though. No you won't. Goalie prospects are notoriously flaky and hold little value. There are so many serviceable goaltenders out there every season no one is going to spend big unless they really get their heart set on someone. Goalies are important but they hold about the least trade value of any position.
  5. George Lucas is much more of an idea guy than a real writer. He can come up with good concepts but when it comes to writing he is absolutely terrible. The problem with episodes 1-3 is that he was such a big deal when they were made that no one had the balls to stop him and say "No George that is a terrible idea"
  6. I heard absolutely nothing about mini-camp aside from Goodrich quitting football.how is that possible?
  7. and goalies don't have much value in trades either so don't pretend you're going to get anything of value from anyone for a goaltender.
  8. OK but those are the throw ins on a Trouba for Hall base right?
  9. There's still only one football and someone is going to be left out and be more of a decoy rather than actually putting up numbers. Numbers are what gets a receiver paid.
  10. you really don't know what realistic means do you? Toby is a good defenceman, but the Oilers don't really need a guy like him, They don't need a Ladd either because they have a lot of pieces at forward that are good enough. They need D and a guy like Buff would be good, problem is he has very little term left on his contract so his value is automatically lowered because of that but fans don't take into account contracts when they talk about value and Jets fans will want Eberle + but one year of Buff ain't worth Eberle with his cost certainty and production level for the next 5 years.
  11. Not surprising really, there were lots of rumours that one of the reasons he was traded by Edmonton was the fact that he was into "the drugs"
  12. I don't even think it's the cost, I think someone is going to be unhappy with the lack of work they're getting. Lot of those guys probably went with the idea of being more involved. That's the brutal reality of football, there are no guarantees. It's likely one or two of these receivers will shake loose and be picked up by other CFL teams. Don't think other teams are going to want to acquire the contracts Marcel signed them to, so trades are unlikely. Should be interesting. Continually doing stuff like that though gets you on a lot of players **** lists. They already have Kevin Glenn pissed at them for the shenanigans, now you likely got a few receivers. Can't help but think Desjardins is digging himself a hole again.
  13. very nicely summed up. All the same issues I had with Man of Steel.
  14. Jurassic World looks just terrible. I saw a quote that I think sums it up, if the movie was called "Dino-land" rather than trading on the Jurassic Park name everyone would laugh at this awful B movie. I'll watch it don't get me wrong because the inner 12 year old still loves dinosaurs but good grief. As for fantastic 4, yeah how about no? The franchise sucked the first time they tried and it still sucks.
  15. I don't even think it's the cost, I think someone is going to be unhappy with the lack of work they're getting. Lot of those guys probably went with the idea of being more involved.
  16. Ahhh the regular whining about people whining about a guy who is seen as a whiner.... I wish we could all be as enlightened as you and above such pettiness.....
  17. Marcel "average at best" Bellefeuille will undoubtedly be the weak link
  18. Mack's fault was in picking coaches and, debatably, may have had trouble with the CIS Draft, but you absolutely can not say he didn't bring in high competition in the form of Import talent. Far better than what we've seen so far from MOS/KW regime, tho that's understandably a limited comparison... Yeah Walters has a long way to go to be on the same level as Mack when it comes to recruiting American players. The failing for Mack was expecting rookies to come in and be coached up very quickly AND hiring very poor coaches. Walters has focussed more on free agents and talking a good game about the draft. This year is a big year to see if his scouting department can get the job done.
  19. Superman is a terrible character to try and turn into a gritty realistic one like they did with the Nolan Batmans. Superman is a god. flat out stop. At this point his powers are such that he can do whatever he needs to. There is never any danger for Superman, at least Batman can be taken down by a bullet. Superman is all about him being a boyscout and how despite being the god he is he is still a champion of humanity and doing the right thing. That just doesn't fly well in the action movie genre. They had success with dark and gritty Batman movies but you can't do that with every super hero. That's one thing that Marvel has done right. They haven't taken themselves as seriously as the Nolan Batmans did or Man of Steel tried to. I don't have a lot of faith in Warner Bros. shoe horning in a Justice League thing. It reeks of seeing Marvel with their tied universe and the Avengers raking in all the money and trying to say "ME TOO!!!" Problem is the only thing that WB has gotten right with their super hero movies so far is Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Dark Knight Rises was OK but it had a lot of issues in it and if not for how good The Dark Knight was I doubt it would be regarded terribly highly.
  20. The first book and the first season of the show are very similar, but starting in season 2 they started making all sorts of crappy changes. I understanding changing things for TV, but they went too far and really dumbed things down and did a ton of whitewashing.
  21. The surprising news is that the Riders for once didn't blow the cap. I am sure they will correct that error next season.
  22. Harumph! Harumph! Harumph! I pvred the first episode, haven't watched it yet, don't know if I even want to watch this season. Everything I've seen indicates they've gone on the "what source material?" kick and every time they stray from the books it ******* sucks. Show runners have a pretty bad history, they just lucked out getting such great material to work with initially. Now having said that I read the books long before it was ever an HBO show and I'm a big believer that books are almost always better than the film adaptations. TL:DR I have no faith in the show to do justice without the books to guide them. GRRM write faster you fat bastard!
