  1. Well the sun has cycles that do impact it, there was one a few years back but it's over now and things are still trending warmer, sometimes the CO2 comes from other sources, sometimes it's from other greenhouse gases emitted by wide spread vulcanism. There really isn't a lot of opinion. The majority of scientists agree, it's just a few dissenters trying to argue a losing cause.
  2. I like Willy a lot but he's got a ways to go before he's at the level Pierce was when the Bombers signed him. Our receivers are a lot worse than they were when Lapo was here and it's up for debate how good the OL was because our qbs got the crap beaten out of them last year too so I don't know how you can sit there and say "we're so much better than last time!" We might be better, but a lot of that rests on the coaching, and Lapo has a bad record getting Bomber qbs killed.
  3. So only scientists should have an opinion? There is contradictory "science". Seems even scientists dont know. the problem is, there is also a lot of bullshit parading around as science that people keep bringing up. Here are some things that we can accept as true though... The Eath has warmed and cooled on it's own for a variety of reasons in the past and will continue to do so in the future The greenhouse effect is real, this is not up for debate CO2 is a greehouse gas, this is not up for debate Our species has emitted a metric **** ton of CO2 in the last 200 years, this is a fact and not up for debate. So you put all those things together and yeah there is a whole lot of overwhelming evidence pointing towards our actions as a species impacting climate. How much? Well that's where the debate comes in, and what's to be done about it? That's the biggest debate that should be happening. The science is pretty straightforward and trying to hand wave it away with arguments like "Well the Earth warms and cools naturally" aren't scientific they're little better than being a flat earther or creationist. Just flies in the face of real science.
  4. Those of you who disagree that Lapo is the right choice... who IS your right choice? I think this certainly has the optics of continuing the time-honored, recently unsuccessful tradition of bringing back former Bombers... but who better is out there, that would be available? Khari's track record as OC is terrible. Dyce was mediocre as OC. Cortez can't hold onto a job. Condell is a complete unknown because of the influence of Austin. Danny Barrett's been out of the CFL a long time. Brady and Maas were not made available. And I don't think we want to go NCAA again given the wild success of Crowton. I hate the optics of bringing back former Bombers that were unsuccessful too, but maybe, just maybe, he's not just a qualified candidate. Maybe he's changed somewhat. Either way, there really isn't much better that I can see, that was available. I have already said what my preferences were. I'd rather gamble on a fresh face improving than gambling on an old face that I didn't like either of the first two times becoming someone different.
  5. No what I'm saying is that if people don't understand the science they shouldn't be commenting on the science.
  6. The Riders will be interesting to see... Jones wants to be a GM, Murphy wants to be a GM, O'Day wants to be a GM... too many chiefs not enough indians? I hope it all blows up spectacularly.
  7. ANd do we think Lapolice is taking this job right now for any reason other than he thinks if O'Shea gets fired he'll get another chance to wear the big head set?
  8. I wonder how different things would be now if he had gotten his first choices in Lapo and Stubler for 2014? We'd be firing Lapo now instead of hiring him.
  9. Yet people feel obligated to comment despite that?
  10. There is a lot of bad science in this thread from all of you.
  11. Oh make no mistake I know why O'Shea hired Lapolice, he was the experienced "safe" choice. I disagree that it's the right choice.
  12. Look the climate is changing, that's pretty well studied and it most likely does relate to CO2 emissions. The real question is, is it worth all the hand wringing and doom and glooming and the millions, probably billions it costs to try and change what might not be changeable?
  13. Now that's an interesting question... favourite beer right now... hmm I'm going to have to think about that and I'm not sure I can answer it.
  14. o.k...who is the best choice and why?Someone who hasn't failed here twice already for obvious reasons. Lapo has been stuck on TSN for the last few years, that says something to me about how in demand the guy is. Yeah he's the most experienced candidate out there... but that isn't exactly much to hang your hat on. Grow some balls and throw out a name, you contemptible harpy I have already said I wanted Khari Jones, but I'd have taken someone like Jarious Jackson or someone else in that vein too. I didn't like Lapolice the first time he was here and I didn't like him the 2nd time, what's going to change the 3rd time? I a sick of hearing about how much he learned in his time away, people spun the same BS about Bellefool when we dragged him back too.

  16. My problem with Lapo is that he's been around so long the chances of him becoming something new are slim to none and we already know he's a horribly passive coach. I want someone who can attack and take some chances trying to win a game, that's not really Lapo. I'd rather gamble on an up and commer because with Lapolice we are liking looking at another situation where if we get mediocre offense we're happy.
  17. In 02 he had a gun slinger at qb and Stegall and Bruce in the slot, that put teams in a bind defensively and all Khari had to do was pick one of them to heave it up to. So sign a slotback to replace Moore... WIlly is a gunslinger and Denmark is our other SB. We have a Roberts/Sellers type duo in Cotton/Marshall... And don't forget that one of Jones' targets was Jamie Stoddard... we are way ahead of the curve there, probably four stoddards on the roster already! So wait you compared can't stay healthy and proven nothing Cotton to one of the all time best Bomber (and arguably CFL) running backs and compared any of the receivers on the roster to the greatest receiver in league history... never mind that Bruce himself was better than most of the receivers playing in the CFL right now. That's not even getting into how good Mike Sellers was. I know 2002 was a long time ago, but that offense was ******* stacked. I'm not saying we have the same level of talent... but the makeup of the offence is similar. As I recall, the 2002 offence was pretty much those four guys and that's it... 2003 Bobby Gordon replaced Bruce (?). but if the talent is miles worse it doesn't really matter if the make up is similar. Roberts and Stegall and Bruce and Sellers could make something out of nothing. Can anyone on the current roster make something out of nothing? That right there takes away a pile of effectiveness.
  18. I loved Pierce's style of quarterbacking and he was very effective at what he did, BUT, let's not pretend Pierce was anywhere close to being the same kind of QB he was before he became a Bomber. When you take away his "Mike Reilly-do anything-to-get-a-1st-down" kind of QBing, you take away a lot of what made Pierce effective. This is what we were left with when Pierce played for us. He was only a shadow of the player he once was. And it didn't help that everybody knew it, and we couldn't protect him worth a damn. When Pierce first got here he was the same guy he always was. I would agree that by the end he was too broken, but by the end Lapo was long gone.
  19. I'm getting tired of this idea that Pierce was a terrible qb. He was a ******* good qb who couldn't stay healthy.

  22. It's a cop out hire. Mistaking the most experienced candidate for the best candidate. Fact is Lapo is a ***** and we're in for another year of overly conservative play calling. That's why we fired him as a head coach too. He never took a chance. And as an OC back in 03 here he was the man who brilliantly thought that Marcus Howell could replace Arland Bruce in the offense.
  23. guess that settles it. I don't feel like digging through my old notes from university to get you some sources, but trust me, I studied geology and geography so I know a bit about the earth.
  24. I think it's cute how badly the Riders want to be the Eskimos.
  25. Why are so many people OK with a guy we fired twice already?
