  1. because we've seen a bunch of them around the league before. Dressler had some great years with the Riders, he was never on the level of Simon or Bruce. Brazzell I don't even count, he was garbage and also more mid 2000s when the team didn't do a lot of winning either. Smith is not at the level of Simon or Bruce either, I mean really is there much difference between what Smith has shown us and what Denmark did? I have very little belief in Adams, I think he's just another way of saying Aaron Kelly. Too inconsistent to really rely on. Who knows what Davis becomes but he's still a rookie. The amount of talent on those very early 2000s teams was mind blowing.
  2. but then they see the dead cat bounce and say "Oh, they got more out of the team, let's give them a chance" You are crazy if you think it would be any different this time around. If they fire MOS it'll be either Hall or Lapo getting a chance to coach this team next year and they've both been fired in their head coaching chances already.
  3. The biggest thing is how bad the OL is at picking up stunts and twists and things from opposing defences. Any kind of wrinkle and it's like our players are braindead as far as who to pick up. Hard to run an offense when the simplest things can throw it all out of whack. Those prized highly drafted OL are getting worked over.
  4. If we are going to fire people let's do it at the end of the season for a change. Hasn't worked out firing people midseason at all recently, why not change it up.
  5. the worst by a country mile? no sir, you need to watch more teams than just the jets. Could start locally in Calgary perhaps.
  6. you're obsessed with Pavelec, why is that? I'll say this as someone who isn't even a huge Jets fan, Pavelec is an OK goalie, not perfect but OK. Not the guy to carry a team on his own but support him he can hold the fort.
  7. I am not defending him so much as trying to expand people's focus. He's not the only problem on this team, not by a long shot.
  8. If we are going to play pretend why don't we also pretend that the defense didn't give up that touchdown at the end of the first half. hell even if they'd kept it to a field goal all of a sudden the Bombers could be leading or tied at the end. There are a million what ifs over the course of a football game. Trying to pick out one or two is just a fools errand.
  9. We most certainly do not. Not one of our current receivers are in the same stratosphere as Milt Stegall and I don't think any of them are comparable to Geroy Simon or Arland Bruce either. Dressler may or may not be, I would lean towards being a bit lower than those two, probably about Robert Gordon level. After that though none of those guys compare to the kinds of receivers we trotted out in the early 2000s. We got no one at all like Sellers on the team and let's say we call Roberts and Harris comparable that's still just one position. I know that this is the best group of receivers we've had in quite a while... but it's still lacking.
  10. going down in flames... it was still just a 4 point loss and I know there were ugly moments in it, but let's not act like they did a calgary again.
  11. You know what I would honestly do? When Willy gets the shell shocked look, and you can tell when it happens, I'd put Nichols in for a series or two just to give Willy a break and let him watch from the sidelines for a bit and then put him back in. The reluctance for coaches to use a 2 qb system these days is kind of silly when you don't have the superstar guy so why not for the sake of his mental game give Willy a break. Things snowball on this team, give them a chance to recover maybe.
  12. Not really, Sherritt would have dropped back had willy stayed on him and the receiver was running into the area of another db as well. Would have been a similar situation where he was throwing into coverage. The idea behind that play was get Sherritt going with the first guy and then go the other way and complete a pass in front of the coverage, but Sherritt read the play and get in the way.
  13. The esks adjusted at half time and we didn't change what we were trying to do. They worked on taking away the short stuff and the Bombers tried to counter that by.... I dunno hoping it would still work I guess.
  14. Yeah, that's why we've fired Lapo twice already. Hattrick here we come. That and once again Lapo got his lunch money stolen in the half time adjustment game.
  15. Yeah but we did the same thing to Buck Pierce too. Should we throw another qb to the wolves and let them get mentally destroyed before we fix the real problems with this team?
  16. because he's been hit too many times in the past few years when he did trust them. You can see plain as day that the guy is gunshy and it only takes a few hits to get him thinking that he's not going to have the help from them.
  17. I know Willy has his problems, but a large part of that is the fact that he has no trust in his blocking. You see it when he does get time, he panics expecting the hits to come, and they do still come. The fact that we can't even get Andrew Harris, one of the top backs in the league established on the ground is yet another strike against the rest of the team too. Putting this on Willy is just plain old unfair to Drew. It's a team game and the team isn't doing enough all around right now. Even the great defensive performance left something to be desired. I mean that march by the Esks to end the first half was some disgusting stuff too. All I have ever said, is that there is plenty of blame to go around.
  18. This is why willy takes too many hits, his receivers aren't ready to help him when he has to throw it quick.
  19. Pat Watkins who is like 6'5 and Dressler is like 5'7, nearly a foot in height advantage. This brings up something else I need to ask, who is this teams deep threat? Smith and Dressler are both short which doesn't allow them to really do like Bowman did for the esks last night and go up and win jump balls in tight coverage, Adams is just as likely to get easily boxed out as he is to go up and make a catch, it's not going to be Kohlert, Davis doesn't seem to be used that way. We just don't have that reliable downfield threat. Short guys need to flat out beat the coverage, I haven't seen Smith or Dressler do it yet when it's been thrown to them, tall guys need to be able to fight for some contested balls and Adams is so inconsistent in whether he will or won't.
  20. Willy does get rattled, as many qbs in the past have here from the constant hits. He is fragile mentally at this point and needs to be supported better. Not being able to get the run game going makes it worse, the fact that the only reliable plays this team have are the short passes is just not going to do a lot. This team needs to take a slow approach to rebuilding the collective confidence but fans have no patience for that.
  21. you should talk about attacking posters, you spent all night in chat slinging insults around like it was going out of style.
  22. and as for Burris, he already said no thanks to coming here once, why would he come here to get his ass kicked game in and game out at his age? Best we'd do is nut case Tate or broken down ginger Lulay.
  23. because a balanced offense is harder to defend and puts less pressure on a qb? It's also a symptom of a not good enough group.
  24. better than runny **** is still ****.
  25. It's funny that people are pining for Kevin Glenn, because I remember not too long ago people were adamant that Glenn had to go for the same reasons they're unhappy with Willy now.
