  1. Ottawa is not a team that can use a 2nd overall pick on a futures guy. Would be surprised if Mardner is up here this year. Riders pick a NFL player 3rd overall hahahaha
  2. 20 mins and only one pick. NFL doesn't move this slow.
  3. Think Ottawa goes OL. They have a bunch of OL signed but they all stink aside from Desjarlais. Need a real talent infusion there. Get the Laval guy who will be your guard Day 1. Dublanko is sitting in Edmonton and the media doesn't even know.
  4. No reason to not have Edmonton on the clock 5 minutes before this goes to air.
  5. I don't know why the hell the draft doesn't start at 7 eastern. The people who want to watch it will find it. It's not the kind of thing people are randomly going to stop on.
  6. NFL taking all the Globals too. Should make a deal with them where they can loan guys over so they get to play and not sit on PR down there.
  7. Last years draft was not a good one. In terms of receiver/running back we want to start 3 Canadians there and we have 3 starting level players. We need depth there today as well as thinking into next year and beyond. Exact same issue with OL.
  8. Well if you sign him he's here for 2 years same as anyone else.
  9. Very interested to see Bombers pick. I think aside from Dumoulin-Duguay there's not a lot to pick between the OL who will be available through about Round 3. Nkanu is probably most pro ready but no upside at all. But there's a lot of guys who could be significant players on D and at receiver available. Say with that 3Down mock exercise....if Brubacher is on the board for us in the first round I don't see them passing him over for a guy who probably isn't good enough to dress this year at OL. Could grab a similar level of OL prospect at end of Round 2.
  10. It’s a great OL class. So great it might produce 4 NFLers. I actually think the guy most likely to end up without NFL work is Benedet but he’s been pretty staunch about pursuing the NFL so I don’t think he’ll be back soon. They also have 15 guy PR’s now so hard to get guys back. I think Hergel will stick. Will develop as a center who can play all over if needed.
  11. A lot of those DL have no explosion which is going to severely limit their ability to compete in the CFL. Sambu and Obiang showed very poorly at the combine...and the competition level was not strong with OL there. One guy I can see getting a bit of a bump in Onyeka from Carleton. I think most teams will see him as an interior guy. He played end in U Sports but is kind of that Wiggan type body. He'll add 20-25 lbs. Omanuwa from Laurier had a good combine. See him being one of the first interior guys off the board. Hubert from Mac too. He's another guy who played more edge in U Sports but will be an interior guy in CFL. Of course Sambu being a NCAA guy will have some bias behind where he lands. I don't see him being a CFLer at all. The guys that come into the combine in such poor condition is a huge red flag.
  12. Problem is there's like one guy who is ready to play who will likely be in CFL camp in May, Dumoulin-Duguay. Una is a maybe. Nkanu I think will not be much of a pro, decent feet, very weak hands. Wallace too is another medium floor, very low ceiling type. Doesn't really have CFL OL skills in terms of movement. Most teams will want guys who can play pretty quick. And there's not really a Dayton Black type in this draft who is raw but with huge upside. Maybe like a Bosse or Mueller. But lower upside.
  13. Here's a cut at a 2 round mock draft. Taking realistic projection on guys who are going to be in NFL. 1. Edmonton- Curtis Dublanko LB 2. Ottawa- Dumoulin-Duguay OL 3. Sask- Kevin Mital Receiver 4. Calgary- Tyson Hergott DE 5. Toronto- Kevens Clercius Receiver 6. BC- Luke Brubacher DE 7. Hamilton- Michael Chris-Ike RB 8. Winnipeg- George Una OL 9. Montreal- Benjamin Labrosse DB 10. Edmonton- Gabe Wallace OL 11. Ottawa- Geoffrey Cantin-Arku LB 12. Sask- Daniel Okpoko DL 13. Calgary- Nick Mardner Receiver 14. Calgary- Kyle Hergel OL 15. BC- Christy Nkanu OL 16. Hamilton- Owen Mueller OL 17. Winnipeg- Melique Straker LB 18. Edmonton- D'Sean Mimbs Receiver 19. BC- Theo Benedet OL 20. Winnipeg- Jared Chisari RB
  14. Because he is still a free agent and could play again. Could also coach.
  15. Liegghio's punting cost them a Grey Cup. I think he was basically done here after that game.
  16. Last year we netted 33 or so on punts. I believe Castillo could do that. With improved cover teams hopefully we are closer to 40. Directionally he's a bit inconsistent. But if it gives you another useful player on D for 20-25 snaps a game...potentially worth it.
  17. That Canadian punter doesn't really exist. There'd be 9 teams chasing that player. The only Canadian punter last year was Jake Julien. Everyone else was Aussie or import. Could try Castillo.
  18. Kicker. Castillo, I think they are looking for that American DL who can play 2-3 spots on the line to be a DI. Think they see Rivers, Garbutt and Waggoner as that guy potentially. The rest of the DL in camp seem a lot easier to classify as competing for rush end or nose spots. Kick returner. Would be a bonus if there's a guy who could be useful on offense. Grant was an all-time returner but couldn't really function in the offense, just gadget stuff. Then DB/LB...mostly for special teams. Cole's spot to lose. So I guess Castillo and Cole are signed.
  19. I expect the Bombers to end up with 2-3 legit players out of both drafts along the DL. Hopefully one rush end type, one nose, one more versatile type. There will be guys available in the 5th round of this draft who are better CFL prospects than Bennett.
  20. Burmeister intrigues me. He was a decent QB at a fairly high level (ACC). Started for Oregon as a freshman so just on raw talent there's something there. He just converted to receiver with Rams last year. Kind of wondering if they are looking at him in both spots....or even just QB. He must really have NFL dreams to come up here as a receiver because I have no doubt he could play QB in the UFL based on some of the guys playing there.
  21. All the combine testing does is show who is serious about moving to the next level. If you're an OL walking into a combine where you can't do 20 reps of 225....you're showing that you're not willing (or able) to do the work to be a pro. Now if you have tremendous film you'll probably get a chance to prove that wrong. If the film is meh, the testing is meh, the on field stuff is meh, you're done.
