  1. Not so much spy specifically but lots of dropping out 9 and being very unpredictable in coverage in terms of having different guys drop into deep thirds, different guys sit in flat/curl zones. Heavy match zone so really hard for receivers to get open, really tight windows.
  2. I think Streveler is going to need to be in the 230-250 range because I don't expect him to do much running or RPO type stuff year 1 off the ACL. That era of his career might be done. Like how he beat Ottawa last year.
  3. Carey is a weapon. Ouellette is a 235 pound slug who runs upright.
  4. I think Rourke's running is a real sign of his lack of maturity as a QB at this point. He takes a lot more sacks than he needs to as well because he starts looking into the rush and looking to escape to run. He hasn't developed the ability at this level to avoid staring down the rush. Maybe BC's OL last year didn't help him in that area. He looked somewhat improved in that regard yesterday. Alexander is a Dave Dickenson clone. Just zero fear and scrappy. No one has anywhere near the arm Dru Brown does. Collaros and Rourke are the only guys in his league. You watch Adams, BLM etc work from the pocket. Floating balls, off time all over the place. Guys having to work back to balls thrown behind them, dive at balls on the turf, leap at balls sailed with no velocity. You pin Adams and Ford in the pocket 90% of the game, stay patient, just wait for them to hand the ball to you. Ottawa needs to stop paying washed up Americans on D and get a OL. Start with playing a centre who can snap with his eyes up. WTF is Jacob Ruby doing there?
  5. Every pass under 15 yards the receiver has to leap to try to catch it from Ford.
  6. They really need to actually build an offense to suit him if they are going to try to do this for real. He can't pass from the pocket. The RPO stuff is dangerous and tires out defenses. Get them guessing where the ball is going to go and choosing to cover downfield or come up to defend the run. Fajardo is a terrible partner for him because if they end up using him he'll be butthurt if they give snaps to Ford for a special RPO pack.
  7. Returner runs the ball out of bounds at the 3 yard line on a missed field goal. JFC. Anyone coaching these guys?
  8. Yeah he can't do much from the pocket off a 3 or 5 step drop. And I'm not sure how you win many games like that in this era. You go RPO and let him be poor man Damon Allen but also get cranked 8-10 times a game.
  9. God Edmonton looks like a clusterfuck of a team. They'll be fun to watch but I don't think they'll be a threat to anyone good.
  10. Betts has no clue how to play against a QB like Ford.
  11. Why no flag for Rourke throwing the ball to an OL?
  12. Ford has very limited ability to pass the ball. Gotta use RPO stuff to help him out....put D in a bind.
  13. Buck Pierce vs short yardage.
  14. Yeah he can loft some deep balls and hope someone runs under it. But anything in that 5-20 yard range that he has to get there on time with some zip, flip a coin. 2nd and long inside their own 5 and Betts just hands Ford the first down by taking an inside move on the OT.
  15. Hamilton is looking kind of like the Reinebold era Bombers. Bunch of guys from the GM's last team and a bunch of guys in general that have their best days behind them.
  16. Johnny Augustine just cost Hamilton a possession with a special teams gaffe.
  17. It's amazing how many passes VAJ throws without setting his feet. And I guarantee you that will drive Dickenson insane.
  18. Yeah for 22 snaps on designated players. They have no Designated Nationalized Americans and Rourke isn't designated either to be subbed as the Canadian for that.
  19. Sanchez main point on anything QB related is how they have so much pressure on them to win. Have heard that point on 3 different QB's tonight.
  20. I don't think he knows anything about the CFL. I suppose that could be entertaining but also could be a real waste of time for actual fans of the Canadian game. What happens to BC during the game if Rourke gets injured? They are counting him as a Canadian starter. My belief is that if he went out due to injury they'd have to replace an American receiver with a Canadian receiver/FB or bench an American OL for the Canadian 6th OL (also starting 4 American OL).
  21. So many forfeits in AAAA league last year. The tiering model is so broken. Forced every AAAA school up into top league because everyone was trying to avoid being in same league with OP, St Paul's, Dakota. Nobody wants to lose by 70. It was a lot better when the big schools didn't have JV teams but a top division team and a lower division team instead. In that era when I played and then coached, never heard of a forfeit. Now it's like 6 a season because teams literally get destroyed playing these monster South Winnipeg programs.
  22. Absolutely they do. Everyone in the city with stable coaches does. Rule is kids are locked in where they go to school for Grade 10 unless they move residence to a different catchment. Otherwise if they change schools, have to sit out a year/go through an appeal process that rarely rules in favour of the athlete before they can play any sport at the new school. Those top 3 Winnipeg schools in LRSD and PTSD (Dakota, OP, Vincent Massey) have more kids outside of catchment than inside on their football team. By a lot. Kids at schools without football can't transfer out after the start of their Grade 10 year either to play football at a new school. Wade Miller is really pushing more of a co-op model to allow more schools to participate...which in MHSAA is only allowed for very small schools...and dilute the pool of players for Dakota, OP, Vincent Massey. WHSFL makes it's own rules through Winnipeg School Division so it is possible to do something different than MHSAA would say for other sports. Manitoba is very weird in how our high school sports are structured and really discourage any hope of participating in a sport that doesn't exist at your school.....especially when basically all our team sports run the top programs through high schools, and outside of the city high schools are really the only way you can do anything but hockey. All the rules slow down recruiting, but also encourage kids to go to the super schools for their sport rather than stay and build competitive programs in their area of the city. Most other provinces have spring club leagues that take on that role and let kids play at closest available school to their home.
