Only 2 CFL drafted OL this decade who made it into a NFL main camp ended up in the CFL so far. Carter O'Donnell after 5 years in NFL camps, mostly with Colts. Anim Dankwah, who Argos just cut. The rest are in the NFL still or retired.

Good reminder that the Argos literally have no personnel department currently. 3 guys in semi-retirement.

The game was basically tied until right before half time. Brady had 5 touches in the first half. It's just not part of Condell's philosophy to consistently run the ball. For a lot of the last 2 seasons Ottawa basically didn't even play with a running back. Because we have so many Canadian depth OL knocking on the door.

Wallace's first two steps were out wide to his left to nobody when Ottawa had pressure coming A-A-B to his right, a rush end wide of Bryant rushing. So they get a 3 on 2 vs the rest of our interior, really 2 on 1 vs the centre who has to choose because Wallace can't read what's happening in front of him/he's got a bad habit of widening out and opening his hips every snap in pass pro. Put's our QB's at huge risk. Wallace just needs to be a wall and let the rush come to him as an interior guy instead of chasing/turning. He can take up two gaps if he keeps his hips square to the LOS, when he opens up in his first 2-3 steps he's blocking zero gaps. Everyone is seeing this on film and will keep prodding it until it's corrected. No issue when 54 was in for Wallace. At that point our only vulnerability was speed rush off the left and Daniels being included in protection not being able to read when he needs to block or when he can leak out.

There are a bunch of UFL guys looking for gigs. Not many are getting NFL looks. But that league is pretty bad. Might be a few lineman worth a look. Most of the receivers are guys that have already been cut 2-3 teams in CFL camps.

Heard yesterday morning out of Regina a Rider player had been in a wreck and that it was likely the Rider players fault, didn't know who until afternoon. Then a lot of locals went off on a "brown guy" taking out a Rider in a wreck....immigrants don't know which side of the road to drive on etc. Sickening ****. Sadly a lot of pro athletes in contact sports spend a lot of their career/life blasted out of their mind on weed and analgesics. There's also that feeling of invincibility. In communities I'm involved with there's a lot of guys who cause carnage like this who die young and are looked at as heroes, awards named after them etc. Always kind of makes me sick. Would be nice if eventually we get to a place where we can talk about how irresponsible drinking/substance abuse and driving are. Use these situations as the cautionary tale and don't bury the reality of what happened.

Wallace has a really bad habit of kicking wide in pass pro which completely opens up the middle. He might actually be an option at LT because half the time he's playing LG like he's trying to be the LT. Teams watching film will find that vulnerability and hit us with double A blitzes basically force a 3 on 2 on our interior if Wallace makes that mistake. That left side is getting no drive off the line either. I know everyone including our coaches loves that Wallace works to find guys at the whistle and do a little extra. I'd like if he could start doing his job more consistently.

Ultimately Maier put together one scoring drive in the second half, only matched FG's in OT and couldn't make the play in the Convertout. Another L.

Maier also threw a ball out to Pimpleton late in the 4th that 90% of DB's would have picked six'd but Moxey got a hard on for hammering a 155 pound guy in a prone position instead of making the play on the ball.

Give Dinwiddie his Argos personnel and we probably give up 50 last night.

Sorry but this is the worst D we've fielded in this era. No ability to get the ball back or get off the field. We're relying on the other team's ineptitude and if we don't get that, we just get ground to a pulp. TOP is on the D as much as the O in a couple of these games this season. We've got a lot of weak points and the coaches that are good at breaking down film are killing us. Moxey, Williams don't seem to know their assignments and just give away space, Williams just stops playing when he short circuits, Moxey is running away from the ball all night. Nichols is way too easy to beat if you isolate him. Other than those guys giving up 300 yards a game we're pretty good.

White, Wilson, Demski, Nield is like 1/7th of our cap too. BTW, here's 18 game pace on those guys, with a game in Hamilton where we basically couldn't pass the ball. We have 4 guys that are going to be in striking distance of 1000 yards. I don't think we've ever had more than 3. In the glory days of peak Kevin Glenn our 4TH RECEIVER was a guy getting 400-500 yards. Wilson 135 1125 White 120 1134 Demski 102 1200 Nield 81 843 Our biggest problem on O is consistency and IMO that all circles back to the OL and the run game.

I think Wilson or White could both be top dogs but you need a Darvin Adams type on the boundary to open up space. On the 5th receiver....do you think there's a bit of a trade off when you pay a running back and a RT over half a million? That's where that decision was made. Looks increasingly stupid based on who they hired at OC. Toronto's 5th receiver this week was Tristan Ready out of Carleton. 0 for 0, average of 0. Ottawa is spending a lot on receivers. Geno Lewis is on pace for 96 catches for 600 yards. They aren't spending on a QB.

We only ran 4 times where it wasn't RPO with a hesitant, slow mesh and 2 of those were to Chris-Ike who runs completely upright, leaning with no power so he's going down at first contact even if it's a corner. Brady's non-RPO runs were 2 carries for 29. RPO stuff isn't going to work unless the QB is going to pull it and roll. Pull it and drop to 7, the D doesn't care, they don't have to widen their gaps or worry about the edge being pressed. Even if your ultimate goal is to pass the ball for 450 yards a game, you need the run threat. We're taking it off the board and that's where the inconsistency comes from. The D has far less to think about so you're just making their job easier. The only way Condell's scheme will ever work is if you go to NCAA style hurry up. Would be interesting to see someone try a legit full on hurry up offense in the CFL with the officiating.

Game over if Nichols is on that route they ran on Holm in OT.

Wilson's motion through the backfield was a bad tell today on almost all our runs too. Always to the front side so not like it's drawing the D to worry about him being an option/screen threat opposite Brady. We didn't really incorporate the jets at all tonight.

Yeah if we're going to do that we might as well put 6 receivers out because Brady can't do anything on a vertical route. Ottawa's corners were cheating down whenever we'd put him out at the X so it was also disrupting any outbreaking route to that side of the field. So basically we killed our chance to do anything outside the hash on that side of the field where we put him out wide.

It's way harder to do everything on O when you do nothing to establish a run game. The crazy thing is we don't have to do much because teams are worried about him from the get go. But we aren't using that advantage enough to support our pass game too. Way harder to play OL when you're in empty backfields all the time and the D is just teeing off. Condell's strategy is to be the nail, not the hammer.

If we can't get someone on the field better than Moxey we might as well quit now.
