Wow, that thousand year-old Chinese starmap is beautiful.

Could we just sub Dressler for Lankford and let Flanders handle kickoff returns? We'd be without our backup kicker, but it's been seven years since we've needed one...remember Louie Sakoda?

Around the League - Regular Season Discussion (Redux)

I'm a believer in second chances too -- but earned second chances. Dude is in a unique position to change football culture and start hard conversations and if he did that then I'd be rooting for him to get his career back on track. But I don't get that sense from the reporting on him at all, his actions since have seemed more self-serving. -
That game has to be the least entertaining Grey Cup in history ... but I'll still rewatch the half of it when the Bombers were on D. Gavin Walls was a fire breathing monster in that game.

And it's not just the Diversity Is Strength messaging that looks like a joke here .. the Lions and the Bombers both have anti-DV programs that they hype pretty hard. -

From that article: "Clearly, some serious mistakes were made along the way " Ah, "mistakes were made." Pretty much the ultimate weasel thing you can say about something that's ****** up. Hopefully the Commish invites Mr. Briles to rehabilitate his career in some other league. I do have to wonder, given the NCAA's reputation, how many coaches have the same kind of stink on them. Mike Riley did, back in the day: -
couple things -- 1- Really digging Lapo's cute sweep fakes, where they bring a receiver across the formation and fake a shovel pass to him. They've run it three or four times the past couple games and it's stalled the DL every time. 2- Weird stat about Denmark the Invisible Receiver: he's on pace to make 62 catches this year, comparable to his career year of 2014, when he had 65. The thing is, his catch average length was 16 yards in 2014, but is only 10 yards this year. That's life in Lapoland, I guess.

Season at the half. awards, stats and fun.

Matty Ice is playing smart, safe, clutch football. His TD:pick and win:loss ratios are both BLMish. He's been great to watch. But no way Harris is not our MOP. He's been special. Teams know we're going to feature him, team key on him, and he still makes his plays, game in game out. Countless times we have been second-and-short and the entire stadium knows he's getting the ball and we make the first down anyway. Been ages since we've had a player able to impose his will like that. And I love the way he forces the D to respect play action and other fakes. -
Game next week just got bigger. Love it when rivalry games aren't just grudge matches, it's pretty rare that both the Blue and the Green have something to lose coming into the LDC. Previous good-looking Bomber teams (2011, 2014) have fallen apart after a Labour Day loss.

y'know, I've met TiCat fans in Ottawa, Montreal, and BC for the Grey Cup. They love their team but they've also been good folks to hang with.- 20 replies

Loved how our tackles handled Odell on Friday. No somersaults for the mayor. Does Couture get reps? Glad to hear you're bullish on him but I haven't seen him out there a lot aside from short yardage.

Does Darvin Adams have a nickname? Because the way the guy in the grey hat was rubbing his belly, he could be Buddha.

2017-08-17 Edmonton at Winnipeg (pregame) The question tonight: After beating three crap teams, are Bombers legit?

I'm pretty sure that most drummers who need to sync up to a recording while playing live will have a click track in their monitor.

While we're talking about metal drummers -- here is Sabbath playing War Pigs in 1970 in Paris. The whole band is fantastic, Ozzy hasn't melted his brain yet and Tony Iommi's heavy guitar sound shakes the foundations of the earth -- but the star here is Bill Ward. He is a true beast. When he passes, there had better be a new constellation in the sky.

A few years ago I saw a youtube of Bran playing the Last Baron live, with the sound 80% drums and 20% other. Wish I could find it again. It was unbelievable how underneath this gigantic metal song there was this crazy ass swinging beat. Loved it. He can sing a bit too. Singing drummers are excellent. Speaking of crazy ass swinging beats, gotta link to Nicko McBrain soloing my favorite Iron Maiden song. Guy plays those triplets on a single pedal. Just sick.

A Canadian angle: Rebel Media, who had an alt-right-sympathetic correspondent in Charlottesville, is doing damage control as their freelancers quit. http://nationalpost.com/news/canada/ezra-levant-distances-the-rebel-from-the-alt-right-as-contributors-resign/wcm/e1b829fe-6a31-4eac-851e-c7efffb71b62

Here's a look at some of the white supremacists behind the "Unite the Right" rally. If this goes mainstream, we are totally ******. Hope you can see this video in Canada.

My wife says a cynical thing: there's a dead white girl at the heart of this tragedy. Dead white girls galvanize the USA like nothing else.

When I saw the news today I honestly didn't know it would be a big deal. Oh, the President is pussyfooting with actual blood-and-soil Nazis. Just another day in the USA. The USA has been so upside down that I had no idea where the red line for Republicans was. I wonder if the critical mass for a 25th Amendment removal is forming tonight. I don't think any move against Trump will come from Congress; the House GOP doesn't have the courage to defy the Trump voters. Things are so evenly balanced right now that a defection of just a few percent of the GOP voters would be disastrous for them. (Edit: A 25th Amendment removal of the President must be ratified by both houses, so Congress is involved in any case)

Odds and Sods - Blue Bombers at Hamilton Tiger-Cats
johnzo replied to do or die's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
A lot of those dinky 2nd and long plays look like checkdown passes to me. Nicholls' eyes are typically downfield until the steamboats run out, then he takes the high-percentage play and dumps it off to Harris or Thorpe, instead of trying to force it downfield. Those guys can make plays in traffic, so it's not a bad bet. Sure, it's frustrating when we wind up 3rd-and-3 on a dinky pass, especially when it happens 2-3x in a game. But it's not like Lapo has an xbox controller wired into his QBs brain and he's mashing the X button as soon as the ball is snapped. Nicholls is the guy making the decisions, and given that his pick totals are so low, it seems like he's making pretty good ones. It seems like the Bombers philosophy is entirely about winning giveaway/takeaway: DBs play loose looking for picks but also giving up lots of yards, offense plays conservatively to minimize turnovers and leans heavily on our most reliable ball carrier. That means we're not as aggressive as we could be, and we wind up with lots of 4+ FG games from Medlock. Can be frustrating to watch but you can't argue about our Nicholls/Medlock-era record. -
Yeah, there a snare back there, it's just really well hidden. Love watching drum covers on YouTube. Thanks for the links, TF.
