  1. All right. Well then, here's to all the success in the world for Mr. Dahlquist. I think the bigger story here is that we actually hired a QB coach. Even if they had hired Troy Kopp or Russ Michna, at least it is somebody the QB's have on the sidelines to talk to rather than just walking off the field after yet another two and out to sit on the bench and wonder whether they'd be better off working in a Target in Oklahoma than being here in this foreign land with no support whatsoever.
  2. That's why I was campaigning for Dieter. He'd be a grandfather at best, and even one of those creepy old dad guys at worst...
  3. He may not of officially had the title, but for all intents and purposes yes he was. I believe the phrase is "intensive purposes". Actually it's "For all intents and purposes" Not on the old Ourbombers it wasn't...
  4. With Higgins and his experience I really don't see the need for Popp, other than as a US scout. This must be sarcasm. One of the best GM's in the history of the league should be a US scout for a guy who has basically been blacklisted out of working in personnel and management? Yes it was sarcasm.
  5. Herb Zurkowsky ‏@HerbZurkowsky1 3m Coincidentally, #Als' GM Jim Popp isn't quoted in the release. Makes me wonder what his future is with the team.

  7. Right. Mimbs had a great year in 1990, the Bombers basically rode that guy as Burgess wasn't much of a passer, or runner. But he could sure hand off!
  8. And if we had hired Higgins a few months ago and the Als had hired O'Shea today you would be seeing 30 posts about how we went the easy road with the "recycled" Higgins and passed on the best chance at grabbing the CFL's newest "bright star" in the coaching world. You will have people complaining no matter who we hire. If we hired Belichick people would be saying "What, we couldn't get Harbaugh?" I'm happy with O'Shea, but I would have been happy with Higgins too. I just want a guy who wants to win, and knows how to do it.

  10. I'd like to know if this was offered to Higgins. I wouldn't have minded it either. That said, I'd rather see that salary going to players and coaches, rather than another GM.
  11. as long as, Walters is willing to engage in bidding when that happens, thats ok It will be tough ... he lives in Montreal, so they have a leg up. He'll have lots of interested teams. Time to send in our women...
  12. He's been around so long, I think he invented the CFL game. He probably mentored "Indian" Jack Jacobs.
  13. Yup great end to what turned out to be an awesome Olympics. I am not as depressed that they are over as I was about Vancouver (given I actually went to Vancouver and participated in the festivities and attended a few hockey games) but I still couldn't help feeling a bit sad when that giant creepy bear blew out the flame in the closing ceremonies. Back in 2010 I thought that waiting for 2014 would be a long wait, but it turned out to come and go faster than I ever thought possible. I am interested in going to Pyongchang in 2018, who's with me?? Here's the sad bear....sigh...
  14. I just hope this guy isn't another Mike Kelly or Gary Crowton. Those guys apparently knew a lot about being a QB too, and yet all they knew how to do was fail spectactularly.
  15. Paul Friesen ‏@friesensunmedia 8m What's this, the #Bombers have a quarterback's coach? Will wonders never cease?
  16. That's a good list. I believe we also had Tim Jessie in there from 1988 - 1992. I think he was our running back for the 1988 and 1990 Grey Cups. And he wore #5!
  17. Players paid more attention to what their head coach was telling them back then.
  18. I agree, I was a big fan of her dad.
  19. They should just switch home fields with the Argos. I would bet Hamilton would get more fans to games in Rogers then the Argos do. And if only 10,000 seats are ready at Tim Horton's field that's still 5,000 more than the Argos need.
  20. i'm guessing they are waiting for Cooper Harris for the LB coach, either Wylie or Himebauch for the OL caoch any names for the QB coach ? Dieter Brock Is that true? or just a guess? wishful thinking. I'd love to see Dieter on the Winnipeg sidelines again.
  21. what? Are you saying we are like the Vikings? Minnesota variety?
