On one hand you say part of the problem is MOS playing his old guys who can't get the job done anymore. On the other hand, you say you're going to lose the locker room if you cut and old guy who can't get the job done anymore. Face it, Stan isn't worth what we are paying him. He's taking up an import spot. He's taking up SMS. He's the poster boy for a MOS guy taking a spot because he used to be great.

I disagree. QB's slide as late as possible then whine when they get hit. Want protection? Slide earlier. Kelly's butt was barely on the ground when he got hit. Roughing cuz his head got hit? Yup. Ejection? Nope.

In free agency, we need to change our focus from old players who might have a good season to two left to young up-and-comers. Example: Ayden Eberhardt, not Tim White. We need to change training camp from "it's about what you've done in the past" to fighting for your job every day, every play, every rep. No vet days. No pre-season games off, at least a quarter for every vet. Highly competitive practice = highly competitive play. Relaxed practices = relaxed play. We need to "Buono" the old guys a year or two early rather than wait until they are obviously done. Example: Stanley Bryant MOS needs to change and get with the times. Use every rule to its best advantage. Make sure players are ready before putting them on the roster. Start looking for problems before they become glaringly obvious to the fans. Be ready to change plans ASAP when they aren't working. Less LB's on the AR. Bigger receivers. Change the offense to match Dru's abilities at least until Collaros is back. More Brady O. Less deep balls. We need to find a way to stop making so many errors on defence. Too many wide open receivers deep = too many explosion plays = too many points against.

I don't think Eli is the answer, but he would allow us to start an extra American receiver, and thats a big advantage.

The stats are based on the current reality of only going for 2 a small percentage of the time. If teams started going more often, the number of successes would likely go down as defenses would change to stop them.

If the conversation was, "Who is the better QB overall?" I'll take Brown. I don't think Brown had a great game, though; he overthrew his receivers over and over again and just got lucky that their DB's didn't catch one of the several pick balls he threw. On the other hand, Maier had a good game. More accurate than Brown. Not his fault that they couldn't get a TD after he got them to the 1 or that Kramdi made a great play on OT unless there was an open man that he should have thrown to. As for wins being a QB stat... that balderdash! If one of the pick balls was caught by them, it wouldn't change anything about how each QB played, but for a bunch of you, it would mean that Dru played worse or Maier played better. Neither is true, and you know it. It wouldn't matter if Maier made 1 more play and won the game either. That's just 1 play, not how the QB played the entire game.

Now that's more like it but.... I'm talking about the game not an overall assessment of the two QB's. What did Dru do in the game that made him any better than Maier in the game?

I don't think Dru outplayed Maier at all. If Ottawa's DB's could catch even 1 of the 4 or 5 chances Dru gave them, we'd have lost.

What would be in it for Ottawa not to talk to all the teams?

You gotta let Ford be Ford. Two quick reads then go for a run. That's what makes him dangerous. He has a great arm too, but his choices aren't great. I thought he looked way more in control last night. Not many QB's would have looked good behind that O line last night after the injuries.

What's more reasonable, Ottawa called Winnipeg and made a deal without finding out if other teams were interested or shopping Dru around the league to get the best deal?

Walters didn't go out and try to get Dru. Dru asked for his release, and Ottawa shopped him around the league. Walters just made the highest bid.
