Serious question... how many runningbacks can actually carve out long careers? Seems to me that if you get 3 years out of a runningback you're ahead of the game already and it doesn't much matter about their size. They are simply put the easiest position to recruit players for because there's so damned many of them kicking around. All I really care about from that position is who is the best guy? Size be damned put the best player there and worry about longevity in the future. If the guy can't last more than a couple seasons just go down to the pound and pick up a new running back. very true. but then, having one that is more likely to break on you mid-season can have dire consequences. (like Kack did to us last year then came back from injury and broke again finishing his career and taking away our running attack and chance to ice our lead in the 2nd half of the EDF).

i liked Cotton. but i would take Lawless' opinion of him being too small under advisement. some smaller backs have great careers (Pinball, ChuckBob)... others have great starts but their bodies just can't hold up to the pounding (Kack).
-
his body just couldn't keep together. pity about that but he's likely done. he had a bum shoulder when he was drafted, no?
-
we didn't have a 1st or a 3rd... but our 2nd and 4th are playing. (and if Luke Wilson ever makes it back to Canada...)
-
because any OC that sees him out there is going to pick on him...

wasn't happy about going from O'Shea to Daley... and last night our STs got their arses kicked on every play excepting the one where your punter out-punted his coverage and we got a long return as a result. as for Burke, i'm totally fine about having him as a DC. we actually didn't even do a search for one. Barker asked Milanovich who he wanted and was given one name.

a preseason game where 2 of the Bomber standouts were QBs... even with other areas of concern, you guys have got to be happy with that.
-
We gave up good value to get him. Hope he can live up to expectations. The Andre Durie we have is getting up there... so we needed a new one.

Very looking forward to: -seeing our rookies on O-Line get some action -our new D-Line and D-backfield and how Burke deploys them -the fourway battle for the starting tailback spot -seeing if Trevor Harris is the entrenched Ray-understudy -and, oh yeah, Fooking Football is back!

Just curious, but why does the pilot in your avy have such a big head? the U2 flew much higher than previous spy planes. what they had Powers wear was kinda NASA like.

This game, BC vs. Edmonton, Saskatchewan vs. Ottawa, Winnipeg vs. Calgary, Ottawa vs. Montreal, and Calgary vs. BC are on TV. Montreal vs. Hamilton, and Saskatchewan vs. Edmonton are not on TV. pretty sure our game at Varsity isn't televised either.

Madani: CFLPA Recommends Strike Vote To Members
bluto replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
too much upward salary movement in too short a period of time in the Players' offer. salary is a business expense to owners and the PA doesn't seem to understand that businesses can't have a fixed expense rise so sharply. if Flory can somehow get a strike vote done (even if it's a soft one), then the PA may yet do a little better than the League's "final, best offer" and the PA executive can save face. if they can't get a strike vote ratified, i see the League's offer getting accepted (although maybe for a shortened term). still laughing over Butler's tweet: "Where do I get a Cohon jersey" -
he's coaching at Argo TC.

um... that's not how time works. seems like since we make fun of Flory's releases (rightly so) we ought to hold the league to the same standard. I think it was rejected by the PA in the morning so they sent it directly to the players after that in the afternoon. Either that or they built a flux capacitor and managed to harness 1.21 gigawatts. -

anyone else find the wording of Cohon's release confusing? um... that's not how time works. seems like since we make fun of Flory's releases (rightly so) we ought to hold the league to the same standard. -
1 year since the "google chrome" thread and then the "important announcement" which lead to a wielding of the mass-banhammer... good times... good memories...

FWIW, at the end of the season, Cohon said that 7 teams made money. -

Guys make $45,000 a year & you want to break them? That's utterly ridiculous. Why not just find another league to follow? If Cohon's figures are in fact true in his release, the league average is just shy of $93,000. That's plenty. yeah... but there's an Apex Fallacy at work here... for every Ray, Burris, Lulay or Durant making $350k or more, that means there's likely 8 or more guys making the minimum so you can afford them.
