Troy Stoudermire out 3-6 weeks with broken hand
voodoochylde replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Good call. I think if we signed him now his contract would be guaranteed for the season. So maybe the Bombers give him a look once the season starts, if Stoudermire's injury lingers and if none of the in house guys look good...What?Players on the roster to start the season get some type of guarantee. That's why teams often sign guys right after the season has started. I believe Romby Bryant was an example of this last year. Some guys have roster bonuses, but nobody's contract is guaranteed until after the 9th game. They get paid per game if on active, reserve or injured list, so teams might time signing guys in a way to avoid paying them a game cheque in-season.Why did the Bombers wait until after the season officially started last season to sign Romby Bryant? It was contract related.Yeah it was contract related as in he was under contract to the Argos. Bryant was one of the last cuts from the Argos TC and then signed with the Bombers less than a week later. No that wasn't it at all. Argos cut Bryant. We then brought him in for a tryout/look, but I recall Oshea saying we wouldn't officially sign him until after the season begun.Link? http://toronto.ctvnews.ca/veteran-receiver-romby-bryant-among-14-cuts-by-argos-1.1880721 -
Merged threads for Day 7

Yeah .. just tossing it out there for discussion .. I personally don't think he has the leg or consistency to legitimately compete for a kicking spot down south .. but found the "tone" of the tweet interesting (if nothing else).. Leg, maybe not. But what makes you question his consistency? Was more a quick comment on his punting ability vs his place kicking .. sorry .. should have clarified .. just shot off a quick note on my phone.

Just saw this on the sidebar .. @Lirim_70 was a little murky when asked if he was interested in signing a contract extension w/ #Bombers. #CFL via @PentonKirk

I sure hope we're paying him what he's worth. If O'shea thought he is good, then I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I just hope he's not looking at it blindly, just like how he saw Ejiro Kuale at last year's TC. Was he looking at Kuale blindly? Or was he simply just the best that we had..as sad at that is. Kuale getting reps over Ian Wild was absolutely criminal.

Brown say year two of new regimes is the charm ...
voodoochylde replied to IC Khari's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Just bang it against your desk. I'm almost positive that will fix the issue. And make sure you use the corner of the desk...that's the most effective part. Trust me, I'm in IT. Trust me .. that's also the advice he gives to everyone for almost everything .. ;-) -
I would be happy with that Hoping that Picard / Wiley can get Greaves playing with a bit more of an edge but outside of that, this is probably our offensive line to start the year.

Let me simply ask you this .. Knowing the (lack of) quality non-import depth we have along our offensive line .. question marks surrounding Neufeld's durability and Goosen's (and our rookies) ability to make the jump .. do you sincerely believe that Greaves was going to go anywhere? Or is it more likely that a reporter was looking at a scenario .. maybe heard that a few teams were kicking the tires .. and said reporter was simply connecting the dots and then asking question, "Would this make sense?" I'll leave you with that. Do I believe Greaves was going to go anywhere? Yes I do, if Walters received an offer that blew him away. Just being "on the block" doesn't mean "OH GOD SOMEONE TAKE THIS PLAYER", it means conversations were taking place. And I believe they were. Not my fault that you're so desperate to believe that Walters would never do anything that doesn't directly line up with your thought process. Funny how Penton's version is based on sources, which he has proven he has, and your version is based on "this is what I think probably happened." I don't care one way or another if what Kyle does "directly lines up with my thought process". The organization will make decisions .. make roster moves .. hire and fire people regardless of what I think or feel .. does it bother me? Not one iota. Why? I have perspective. I can also have a convesation without being hyperbolic. So before you debase, soil yourself or get worked up into a tissy .. I suggest you back off the caffeine and take a deep breath. All I've suggested is that perhaps you read too much into an article that sourced the "CFL rumor mill". I might also suggest you re-read that article and you might see the breadcrumbs that Penton is picking up as he comes to his conclusion and poses a question to the readers .. Do I believe Walter's would listen to an offer if someone called him? Absolutely. Do I genuinely believe the team was actively shopping Greaves? Absolutely not. Especially when we've so little proven NI depth along the line. To me, that would be a step backward. Unless of course you're getting a NI starter in return .. and how many teams in this league are offering to swap starting NI offensive linemen?

Truthfully, Greaves was never going anywhere .. that was just a lot of idle speculation by fans .. Kirk Penton Article ... It never made sense Greaves has been one of our best OL for years, rarely gets beat... Again, it was idle speculation with nothing backing it .. and as dependable (health wise) as Greaves has been ... let's not overstate how effective he is .. he is (has been) part of the problem with the interior of our line. Again, Kirk Penton does not invent stories. If he says Greaves was on the block, then he was. No need to play revisionist. Not going to get into it with you .. but there was NOTHING that ever said Greaves was on the block. Teams may be been inquiring .. but he wasn't going anywhere. Hell, the whole Penton article was speculating, connecting the dots with respect to cap conditions and was premised on rumors. "Not going to get into it with you... but here let me go ahead and get into it with you" I can't let gullibility go unchecked .. perhaps it's a fault of mine.

If we could get Edwards like production out of Adams I'll be a happy .. happy man.

@DarrinBauming Free agent signee Darvin Adams continues to make difficult and impressive grabs in #Bombers camp. IMO, the Z receiver spot is his to lose.

@Wpg_BlueBombers #Bombers add DB Vernon Kearney

Though, with Neufeld's history, it's a bit of red flag that you're seeing this so early in camp. It's a long season and vets do get some .. rest days .. but he has as much to prove out there as anyone else trying to make this team .. perhaps more given his price tag. Personally, I don't ever see Neufeld being an answer along our offensive line. He's nothing more than a utility guy .. at best a sixth offensive lineman. It's his vesatility that keeps him around but ideally, he's someone who can step in .. take reps when someone goes down .. and not be a tremendous liability on the interior of the line.
-
I remember Doug Brown saying something like the defence just called cover 0 on every play because no one knew what to do, and they had no coach. I don't care what anyone says .. that Daley coached team was the biggest train wreck we've had in Winnipeg in recent memory ..
-
Even if he does come back, that explosiveness is going to be sapped .. lots of mileage because of the beat up legs. Hopefully it's not serious.

@DarrinBauming Stanley Bryant, after pulling out of practice yesterday, is not participating in Day 4 of #Bombers #CFLTC today @friesensunmedia News: DE Zach Anderson back in camp for #Bombers. Rec Addison Richards and OL Stanley Bryant are not. @PaulWiecek S Maurice Leggett is also sitting out again today, but DL Zach Anderson is back on the field. #bn @PaulWiecek #Bombers rookie R Addison Richards is also sitting out practice again today. #bn @DarrinBauming O'Shea said he needs a couple more days so no surprise Addison Richards is again not taking part in Day 4 of #Bombers camp.
