It isn't a valid question when it has been asked and answered the same way numerous times already. O'Shea's answer is that he is the head coach and he can answer any questions they would have for the co-ordinators, it is his job to know. Agree with his answer / policy or not, the media asking over and over just amounts to them bitching and complaining about the policy, not making it a valid question.

Not a lot of info in the presser. O'Shea was asked if Grigsby quit on the team, his answer was quit was a strong word that he wouldn't use, but did say that Grigsby asked for his release. Also it was decided prior to that that Cotton would start again next week because he didn't get enough reps in last weeks game due to them being down by so much so early. Willy is questionable for next week. He still can't quite grip a football, but they will wait for the last minute to decide. January also questionable. More bitching by the media about if and why they don't get access to the assistant coaches. At the end of the presser, one of the media asked why there was a closed practice today. O'Shea explained that the RCMP were running a drill in the stadium today and they couldn't have non staff running around the building. He was then asked why the media wasn't told that before, and O'Shea paused for a moment, pointed at the guy and said "Because I don't have your number, thats why" and walked away from the podium. Thought it was kind of funny. Can imagine what he really wanted to say to the media.

If we continue to look the same when we get some of our key players back from injury, then I will be concerned. If we look better this week with some of our key players back, then what it tells me is we just don't yet have the depth that we need. Which, considering where we were last year, isn't surprising. Takes time to build up the quality of your starters, and until you have that it is hard to up the quality of your backups because the new players you bring in jump right into starting spots. The concerning part is most of our upgrades were made through free agency and not through "new / rookie" players that were brought in. However saying that, I will give them a pass this year because last off season was essentially spent setting up their scouting network and system. If we see much the same next year in the new batch of imports that are brought in, that will give me concern because they should now be rolling on all cylinders.

You're doing it again. Making up things that i neither said nor implied then arguing your side of your made up story. No one, including me, expected the team to become good in one season. Far from it. We didn't make enough of the right changes in the off season IMHO and we haven't made enough changes during the season. I didn't expect an instant fix and I'm not bitching that it isn't faster than can be reasonably expected. My perspective is... We're still not good enough. We're in a downward death spiral. That's not the right direction. We're doing nothing about it this year. We're hoping to get better in the off season from the draft, free agency, and scouting new players.... Just like every other team in the CFL. No you're basically disregarding the progress the team has made and insisting that wins and losses are the only thing that really matters. What I said is exactly what you are saying. You need to expand your focus and look at the big picture. I'm not disregarding the progress. I'm just not overstating it like you are. The big picture is we still aren't good enough and that we still have a long ways to go. W's are the only thing that matters. If we aren't making progress, are you ready to fire Walters and O'Shea, blow the whole thing up and start over again? And if not, why not if we aren't making progress?

They want to give Hutchinson the chance to be the backup, but if he isn't what they hope he is, then they can call Budaj up. He is plan B. Low risk sending him down this time of year, and if he was claimed, they really didn't give much up for him.

Football seems to go in cycles as the game changes with different players and new schemes. Throw in the Ottawa expansion draft to really jumble things up and offences need time to adjust. The higher scoring offences will come back eventually.

He was mad because a reporter was putting words in his mouth and presumingly something he didn't do and he wouldn't do publicly. And it wasn't his biggest complaint of the game. It was what he said on air in the post game show. He can't complain about the officiating, he won't throw his players under the bus. So he complained about a reporter from CJOB putting words in his mouth. I'm pretty sure this is the least of his worries behind closed doors....
