  1. Chevy is probably also trying to hedge his bets. What happens if another D-man goes down tonight?
  2. Reported on TSN 1290 today that Chevy was asking around looking to trade a bottom 6 forward for a 5 / 6 D Man. I imagine they were trying to delay the Trouba news as long as possible before that price would go up.
  3. I wouldn't do that trade. I would do something like Kane and one of Comrie / Hellebuyck / Hutchinson for Hall. Edmonton needs goaltending, and we seem to have an abundance of good prospects. Probably not enough going back to Edmonton for that, but throw in a pick and / or another prospect.
  4. I hear Tortorella is looking for work. He'd find right in with Edmonton
  5. Yes or no on Lombardi being out of touch with reality. The article said that today was the first time they released that information on the investigation. There is no reason for the Police to have shared any information on the investigation with Lombardi. Lombardi made those statements last month, so it really depends on how much and what he knew. If he only had Voynov's side of things, and Voynov lied or played down what hapened, then he might have had a different point of view on things. If he had all the details and / or still thinks that now, then yes, shame on him and he is out of touch with reality.
  6. The problem for Henoc in the NFL with the Special Teamers is that GMs will always want to give precedence to their draft picks to not only give them playing time to develop but will favor them because they invested a draft pick on them. You have to be an absolute beast to stay on as a special team player. If you are equal or only marginally better, they will keep the draft pick over you. Politics come into play.
  7. If you paste a youtube link in, the site is smart enough to embed the video for you.
  8. The whole team didn't play very well tonight. Lots of unforced turnovers, Jets fighting the puck all night. Hutch has the bad misplay on the puck, but other then that really didn't play horrible, and was very solid in the 3rd. Good to see that play didn't knock him off his game. I'm afraid the Hutch vs Pav talk is going to continue for the rest of this season. Don't think he did anything tonight to give Pavelec more starts. I think they will still be alternating goalies.
  9. Doesn't make any sense to me. Cut a guy and you don't have to pay him for the season, unless it was a guaranteed contract of some sort. If it was, then huge mistake by the Bombers. According to the reports when all this went down, he had been paid a 60k signing bonus. If his salary would have been in the 100k range (pure guess), then we would have paid him 40k not to go to another team.
  10. Didn’t want to be put traded in the title because people would think the Jets traded him, but he was traded between WHL teams late last night. The Kelowna Rockets (25-4-3-0) got Morrissey and winger Gage Quinney from the Prince Albert Raiders for Austin Glover, Jesse Lees, a 2016 2nd round bantam pick and 2017 3rd round bantam pick. Looks like Kelowna is already stacked and just adding to make a run. Good for Morrissey to get some potential championship experience. Morrissey has 7 goals and 21 assists in 26 games this season.
  11. This post is a bit off into left field, and not even sure how this scenario popped into my mind, but based on Wikipedia, here is how the CFL draft order is determined (couldn’t find anything explaining it explicitly on the CFL site, but the cfldb.ca site uses the same rule for determining waiver eligibility in the first third of the season which it says is also used to determine draft order): With the cross over rules we have in place, if the 4th place team in the West has a tied record with the 3rd place team in the East, the 3rd place team in the East makes the playoffs no matter what. However, if in the 2 games in which those teams played each other, the Western team beat the Easter team both times, according to the tie breaker rules above, the Eastern team would get a higher selection in the draft. This would mean a playoff team would get to draft above a non-playoff team (as long as they didn't play in the Grey Cup). Is this just another whacky CFL rule? Does this rule make sense? Or do I just have too much time on my hands and should get back to work? Yep... should get back to work...
  12. Anyone else see Twitter have a mini explosion last night with this tweet: Kind of funny, but all the same nice to see that we beat them like we did last night after that.
  13. Maguire is going to be 40 next summer. And while he has a "youthful" look to him, unless they want to take a story arc with an ageing Spiderman, he is getting too old to play Spiderman / Peter Parker as the struggling news photographer.
  14. I'm no psychiatrist, but to me this is wanting attention.
  15. I'm not outraged at it, I actually really don't care about those things. The post was more in reference to Kane's reputation as a goof. As to your questions though: Kind of a silly question because Ladd would never do this. In fact, I can't think of many other players who would do it. First I'd ask you that if Kane had 30 goals would he even be doing this, as he'd be getting the attention he seems to seek? And yes, given Kane's history with these things, and this not being an isolated incident, I think people would still care.
  16. A goof? Doesn't everyone tweet out pictures of themselves doing push-ups with stacks of money strapped to their backs? Or better yet, use a money phone, then remind people of its anniversary?
  17. You have to wonder why Kane got 2 and Lowry got 1 for pretty much the same play. Either way though, it was a stupid play on Kane's part, and a suspension was coming. There isn't a huge difference between 1 and 2 games.
  18. Hard to say, but you would think most agents would at least be smart enough to calculate what percentage of the cap the old salaries represented and extrapolate from there. Won't know the full impact (whether it is a uniform escalation across all positions) until a few QBs and prime Canadians sign to set the market. My guess is more money goes to Canadians, QBs, and established stars as I don't believe the league minimum was bumped up as much as the cap. As a fan, I sure wish the CFL published salaries like the NHL. As a player, not sure I would appreciate my salary being publicly available for anyone to see.

  20. Edited and deleted a few posts in this thread as well. It would be nice to getting back to talking about football without taking shots at other posters. Must be the off season ... or the Christmas season ... or both.
  21. Edited / deleted a few posts in this thread. Lets try to keep posts about the topic on hand and not about specific posters.
  22. Had to be a make up call for that first penalty they called of the 2 man down.
