Coaches will always do what Dinwiddie is doing so that's why rules are being brought in for other leagues.

During my time playing high school football, we prided ourselves on toughness and didn't require "wussie" water breaks. Nowadays, it seems like today's players are all well-hydrated and focused on their health. Should be rules against it.

Agreed. The Argos get no excuses if they lose either. If we lose in front of a packed IGF after a bye week, it will be on the coaching staff and KW to make some changes prior to the playoffs.

We are nothing like the Riders, pull your head out of your backside. What a dumb comparison. We will have a home playoff game locked up by then, and a FAR superior team to them. Just because we will lose out on first place doesn't equate us to a sub .500 team who is getting into the playoffs by default.

Seriously, let's get some perspective here. You're arguing against a hypothetical I never even mentioned. But the reality is, if we lose the next two, our playoff prospects look bleak. We'd have dropped four out of the last five games and would enter the playoffs as a third-tier team, much like the Riders and Ticats. Just stating the clear facts. Continue arguing against your strawman for the sake of lord knows what.

There are quite a few foolish comments here suggesting that a loss or losses puts us on par with the Riders. Don't claim someone's opinion is dumb then make a dumber comment and claim it is hyperbole. Our season is not lost in the next two games no matter what the outcome is. Two losses makes our road to the Grey Cup more challenging, and means our team needs some work before the playoffs. Nothing more.

If we lose the next two, we'll find ourselves in a position akin to the "playoff also-technically-qualified" status of the Riders. Pull your head out of your backside and focus on the bigger picture.

  4. There are quite a few foolish comments here suggesting that a loss holds no significance because the Argos aren't competitive. That's nonsense. We're in a fierce battle for first place in the west, and a loss would categorize us as a second-tier team. Another loss to BC next week would put us on par with the Riders. It's a tough competition, and every game carries immense importance. We can't afford to sleep on anyone else the rest of the year or our season is kaput. Fall football season starts now.

Since I don't think responding to opinions by offering alternative opinions is trolling, I'll try to respond to this one as well. The Argos do in fact share their stadium with one other (regular) occupant, TFC, and occasionally with the Canadian national men's and women's soccer teams. Accordingly, they don't have unfettered access to any date they want. But it's worth noting that TFC and the Argos have the same owner and the same team president, so it might be an exaggeration to suggest the Argos get only the scraps. When the team was owned by Braley and played in the Rogers Centre, it did have an absolutely awful time getting decent home dates. But that ended seven years ago. This year they got three Saturdays, two Fridays, two Sundays and one Monday (which was the final day of a long weekend, so there's not much reason to be concerned about that). No Thursdays, which some fans in some cities detest.

I haven't done a thorough analysis of this year's entire schedule but I'm pretty confident Toronto has had fewer short weeks than some other teams. Having three byes in the first 11 weeks, and none thereafter, obviously sucks and I'm not happy that MLSE either asked for that or didn't fight it. There might be some pseudo-logical reason for wanting it (like easier to sell tickets in the fall than summer) but it's not a good situation for the team to be in. I and some other Argo fans have complained about it on fan forums and Twitter, for what little that is worth.

Aren't you supposed to be stuck in 401 traffic right now? How do you find the time to post lengthy essays that no one here has any interest in critiquing?

The schedule makers, sure. But this has nothing to do with the Argos' ability to control their stadium access. They were never going to play the Bombers at home this year, thanks to the new, cost-saving schedule that gives teams more intra-division games and less distant travel.

Should the two teams have played before now? Yes. I've advocated for the season to always open with a Grey Cup rematch in the home of the champions -- a "kickoff classic." IMO there is a way to do this that would not only create a major new event attracting interest across the league, but would also make scheduling way easier. But since this idea is just in my head, we are stuck with the existing scheduling regimen, which has meant Argos played Edmonton and Wpg only once last year, Wpg and BC only once this year, and who knows what the future will bring.

Edwards has been gone from Toronto since the day after Grey Cup, but sure, he's evidence of ass-clownery on the 2023 Argos.

It's all related to the Argos being treated like third-tier occupants of their stadium. This is evident in the abundance of Monday games, short weeks, and the front-loading of their bye weeks. It's truly a disgrace.

Begone, troll. No one called for your input.

It's disappointing that the Argo's aren't fielding the best team they can. Turns a game I've been waiting for all season into a glorified pre-season game.

I place the responsibility squarely on the Argonauts organization and the CFL schedule makers. It's undeniably absurd that a Grey Cup rematch hasn't happened until week 17 of the season. The Argos should prioritize sorting out their stadium schedule, not just for their own benefit but also for the sake of the league.

As I often say, welcome to Randy's CFL. Can't wait until he's relieved of his duties as commissioner.

  8. Based on my observations over the past few seasons, we tend to play like a lamb leading up to bye weeks but transform into a lion (the ones with majestic manes) after the break. I can't help but feel sorry for the Argonauts, as it seems we'll be putting up quite the impressive performance (50 burger?).

This week, let's focus on manifesting positivity, and a victory will surely follow.

You have no idea what you're talking about. Your comments are just so clueless. I don't feel disrespected by O'Shea. Why would I feel  disrespected? And, if you're so new here then why would my talking about injuries not being disclosed bother you when it shouldn't. Unless, as I suspected you ain't who you say you are & changed your name.

So then, now that the doves of peace are in the air between us & the butterflies are flying free, practice what you preach & don't mock me in a negative way if you believe so much in positivity. Quit trying to be the one who spreads humour & good cheer on this board when no one else asked for it or cares. Your self aggrandizing attitude makes you look foolish & narcissistic. I had a good friend online on many CFL chat sites like this who was murdered over a decade ago. His name was Reg. Some people here knew him as well. He would have had a saying for you that would be quite accurate, "Quit lecturin'... "

It seems like you could use some rest. I hope your Saturday brings you better luck, capped with another Winnipeg victory to brighten your day.

Darn & just when I thought you may be a legit new member here. You obviously changed your name & now we don't know who you were before which is a cowardly way of doing things on a social media site. I don't think I deserved what you said as I barely acknowledged you were here before. i

If you were following my converstaion with Gordo you'd know he questioned why I wanted to know about player injuries & basically said it's no one's business, including mine. Yet there he was barely a day later speculating on who may or may not play based on an injury practice report. So, I asked him why he suddenly cared. I was just carrying on our discussion albeit on another thread. Finally, to answer your question, No I don't. I'm especially glad that I'm not you.

Constantly belly aching every week about injury designations and feeling personally disrespected by O'Shea's curt approach can become quite tiring. My suggestion, my friend, is to give positivity a chance and see how it can improve your day.
