His problem as a head coach is that he is also the offensive coordinator.

If i could choose him for one role it would be head coach and keep him the hell away from playcalling.

With Lapo, it seems like his coaching style hit its prime in the mid-2000s. His playcalling and strategies haven't quite kept pace with the game's evolution in the last decade. To be perfectly frank, I wasn't overly impressed by his role as an offensive coordinator here or his stint as a head coach in Ottawa. It's become evident that his true calling might just be at TSN, and I hope he finds his long-term place there.

  2. I told ya'll before, and I'll tell you again. Allowing 30 points to those Calgary Stampeders, well, that's a pretty sharp critique of the BC Lions. You know what? I'm positively itching to drop another fifty-burger on them. And I have a sneaking suspicion that luck will be on our side next weekend. I'll be sending out positive manifestations all week, you can count on that.

World Curling Tour is serious business. Most of the international teams are paid by their government to do it full time. Canadians are MOSTLY full timers but some have part time jobs like realtors or personal trainers. But ya it's a REALLY big deal.

You know, I've got a real soft spot for Canadian professional curling – the strategy, the precision, it's all just so elegantly beautiful. But I can't help but worry about whether the sport will continue to capture the hearts of future generations. We've got to make sure this piece of Canadian culture endures somehow. Curling and the CFL, they're both truly great Canadian cultural landmarks that we must preserve, lest we become fully Americanized.

Chilly???  It was 14C in Surrey today and will be dipping down to 9C by Friday!

Ah, yes, I grasp your point. But, you see, if you've ever resided in a place with a incessant humidity (which is  unlike Winnipeg), you'll appreciate the bone-chilling embrace of a damp, 4-degree day. Those morning practices in Vancouver will leave them quite soaked and shivering. Never underestimate the bite of a damp cold, my friend.

Especially if we've been practicing in **** all week and they've been in the dome..

The Lions don't practice under the cozy dome of BC Place. No, no, they've got themselves an open-air training setup in Surrey. And with the weather forecast, it seems like they're in for a damp and rather chilly week of preparation. Gotta love the unpredictability of the elements!

  6. Did BC happen to muster a ground attack tonight? It appears they might have left it at home. Best of luck to them navigating the November elements in Winnipeg next week. Adams has a bit of a penchant for the indoor life, so don't hold me accountable for my lack of trepidation.

You know, sometimes it's the quieter moments that speak the loudest, and surrendering 30 points to Calgary tonight might be just that kind of statement.

Maier isn't capable of going toe to toe with any of the QBs in this league that are half decent.  They've had the ball as many times as BC.  He turned it over and did nothing with opportunity when BC took the roughing the kicker penalty.

Jake Maier seems to find himself positioned somewhat at the less illustrious end of the quarterback hierarchy this year. Dave Dickenson, bless him, may have had a bit of a "culinary mishap" on his face. As for Bo, well, he hasn't exactly been the shining star, but he's managed to outperform Jake Maier. I must admit, there's a certain enigmatic charm to the Stamps' quarterback situation. One can't help but wonder if they'll dip their toes into the waters of Drew Brown once free agency opens.

  8. In the mysterious dance of fortune, the BC Lions are moving as clearly showing they're experienced numerous defeats against the Stampeders and the Saskatchewan Roughriders this season. Their performance, all things considered, appears rather lackluster. It seems the whims of luck have chosen not to grace their side, haha!

Our D is prone to running and QBs

Calgary imo would be a tougher game for us in Winnipeg than BC.

Certainly, the Dome-dwelling team won't fare well in the open air at IGF, they'll be preoccupied with seeking warmth near the sideline heaters. Calgary, with their strong running game and month of snow shoveling already, seems more acclimated to matchup for the West Final, although I have reservations about them making it that far.

As ever, you have a short memory.

Go back to the Champions @ Bombers GDT and have a read thru of what a B- Argo roster selection and a vanilla playbook did at IGF.

Edit: and maybe you aren't afraid of losing to the Argonauts (and good for you if so) but go back to the threads of November 21, 2022 to see what sort of psychic wound a GC loss can inflict on the unprepared. It ain't nothing. My nine year old self still recalls the sting.

Brady's eyes are prettier than Dinwiddie's eyes. Deal with it.

cost vs perceived value now....thats why he isnt signed now, and wont be later, and definitely won't be for 2024...such is the life for un-drafted marginal (in NFL eyes) and especially so if he is a guy coming from Canada...sad facts of the meat grinder

Indeed, his journey through the NFL was quite remarkable honestly, given the  path that got him there. However, it's unlikely he'll receive any more opportunities down south. I anticipate his return to the CFL next spring, and there should be several teams interested in his skills within our league.

  12. The award is for the Most OUTSTANDING Player. Kelly has performed exceptionally well as a first-year starter, but he hasn't quite reached the level of "outstanding". I can't recall any truly exceptional individual plays, highlight-reel throws, or remarkable sack evasions from him. Zach Collaros is undeniably an outstanding QB. Nathan Rourke was unquestionably outstanding last year. Chad Kelly took over the reigning Grey Cup Champion squad and has kept them performing consistently.

On the other hand, Brady Oliveira has truly been outstanding this year. He has made numerous exceptional individual efforts, dominated in the fourth quarter, excelled in all the RB statistical categories, and amassed over 2000 yards of individual offense. He is undoubtedly the most outstanding player of the 2023 season, and he achieved this with a Canadian passport to boot. The CFL media should give him the respect he deserves.

Edmonton can ABSOLUTELY beat us (I'd go so far as to say could THUMP us) if the Bombers don't come out firing on all cylinders...

We must keep Ford contained within the pocket (shoutout to speedsters Brian Cole and Jamal Parker) and force him to rely on his arm. If he manages to break outside the tackles, our core team's speed isn't what it used to be, and he could keep Edmonton in the game by scrambling for yardage.

If luck happens to favor Edmonton during the game, it's a real cause for concern, they've looked much improved in weeks passed. But let's all radiate positivity into the ether this week to shift the luck equation in favor of the blue and gold.

My hot take? Mos won’t play better young guys because of his loyalty and is making us worse for it. Buck can’t adjust and has failed to build a system that progresses and has wrinkles. Hall is too soft to get his guys to tackle or play aggressive even out side of the cushion. We have our heads soo far up our own butts as an organization that we think our culture will keep us contending no matter what and staying on the moral high ground is as important as winning a gc. And that maybe, just maybe, walters is one foot out the door ready to go back to a gig in Ontario.

Here's my hot take: Our coaching, team culture, and in-game adjustments have been quite effective this year, concealing the challenges we face with roster management decisions, an aging roster, and a lack of impactful recruits.
