  1. I agree. I just used Canadians as an example of a disadvantage the CFL has as others have said that the NFL is slow & boring. I don't have a problem playing Canadians by the way. It is a part of our heritage. But people here diss the NFL when they ignore the fact that our game has disadvantages as well. The "I hate the NFL" crowd will say they are proudly Canadian. Some say really dumb things here & elsewhere saying the CFL is better than the NFL. Well, Esiason is American & is obviously just as proud of the NFL so he sais what he said. Yes, it was unfair to Streveler & the CFL. But what did he say that was so different than people here continuosly dissing the NFL or calling it slow & boring? Why should Esisason be any different than a Canadian blindly defending the CFL? I like both games. I appreciate what both bring to the table as a fan.
  2. If it's slow & predictable why did Chris Streveler struggle today? He should have been able to have been successful but he wasn't. You & other CFL fans who constantly say things like this have to ask yourself that question. Why didn't Streveler do better? You dismiss it like the NFL game is so uncomplicated & predictable that it's easy or something. It's not. It's a game that is complicated made even moreso with freakishly great athletes playing at every position. I love the CFL but we have mandated inferior Canadian players starting because of the ratio rule who shouldn't even be on the field & can be exploited. In the NFL the best players play. In the CFL Canadians will play while a better American player sits or is cut. A physical runner like Streveler can easily take on typically smaller CFL defensive linemen & Sam linebackers as they are essentially another 195 lb defensive back used for run support but are primarily slot covers. That & the wider CFL field gives more room to run which is why Strev had such success up here. The NFL is a more physical game with bigger running backs as well as huge O & D lines able to pound teams. The CFL is about speed & finesse.
  3. Read where media & fans in Arizona want the team to sign a veteran backup to Murray even before this game was played. I expect that will happen as HC Cliff Kingsbury & GM Steve Keim will be under pressure to strengthen significantly the backup qb position. I think that Streveler will at some point be released. I can't see other NFL teams picking him up (but I could be wrong). I hope he ends up back here.
  4. You can't be a one read qb in the NFL or CFL. High school qbs can do better than that with their reads. Streveler is & always will be a "gimmick qb". Give him a set of plays suited to his talents & let him rip in certain game situations. But a full time NFL or CFL qb he will never be. That being said, love to have him back here so Buck can use him the same way LaPo did in 2019.
  5. If I'm on EI I can't travel out of country so why not? If Deena Hinshaw wants to bring in tougher health regulations at some point just how will Kenney be able to force them on Albertans now after what happened? He & the UCP have lost the moral authority to govern. People will just say **** off & refuse to listen. If Kenney had come down hard on these idiots it would have stopped the negative reaction. He chose not to & defended them all for travelling which just made things worse by infuriating everyone in Alberta. Now, I expect things to snowball this week as people are back & the Christmas break is mostly over. For a veteran politician, Kenney is so damned stupid.
  6. Now the real fury has started with Kenney letting his cabinet ministers & MLA's off the hook with no repercussions for travelling during restrictions (& lying about it). I think Kenney & the UCP have underestimated the anger in Alberta over this. I think this scandal is just getting started & it's hopefully the beginning of the end for the UCP. Letting these morons off without Kenney asking for resignations is as bad as these Elitists thinking the law doesn't apply to them. Kenney just confirmed it.
  7. I want to see McGuire play as well.
  8. I guess nothing ever came of that in 2005, I don't remember. I do remember Irvin's drug trial in 1996. That was a big deal back then during the height of the Cowboys 1990's 3 Super Bowl run. He faced 20 years in jail for cocaine possession but got no jail time as long as he kept out of trouble during the time of his probation which was 4 years. However, the only reason he got probation in the first place was because he was a Dallas Cowboy as his probation coincided with the start of training camp.
  9. Michael Irvin when he was a Cowboy was as bad ass as they came. You see him now on the NFL Network all loosy goosey, happy & joking around but you can still see the intensity & look in his eyes that he had when he was a player back in the 90's. Back then, it was a life of excesses. Money, alcohol, drugs, houses, cars & women nearly did him in. He had it all & he was not a nice human being to boot. He really should be dead or having spent years rotting in jail but he's one of the guys that did turn his life around. I think he appreciates life now & what he has.
  10. You clog the hospitals then hundreds will die & you have all kinds of other problems far worse.
  11. Yep. parents can be terrible people as well taking their son or daughter's money as well.
  12. The first thing a young player needs is a top flight agent. On who isn't a friend who simply tells his client what he wants to hear. One that will light a fire under his client's ass if he isn't doing the work or needs tough love if he screws up. Too many agents are in it for the money & to get rich off their players & actually don't care. Agents are business partners & young players need to trust & respect them. Finding a good one must be a daunting task.
  13. I remember five years ago people saying the same thing about Johnny Manziel. How he deserved another chance. We all know how that worked out. In the end, even June Jones in Hamilton said he refused to put the work in to be a great player. I know he played in the AAF but for all intents & purposes, Hamilton was his last chance & he still refused to do what he needed to do to have a chance at success. I call that just a lack of character. Like the student who never studies who blames the teacher when they fail. Ultimately, it falls on the players shoulders to be prepared & ready.
  14. Did you defended Johnny Manziel with the same message as well? If you did it was a waste of time like we always knew it would be. Other young players come in from college, sign big contracts & become great players. That is the majority who make it & start. Why? Because of character. Because they jnow how fortunate they are to be playing pro footvball. They outwork the next guy & do what they have to do to become better players . Thatis what separates a one player from another. Why some make it & others don't. Yes, Duane Haskins was coddled. For that we already know. He was probably told how great he was since he was 10. Transgressions were overlooked for him but probably not others on every team he played before Washington. Because he was coddled he never developed a proper work ethic as he could get by on athleticism until he got to the NFL. In other words, Haskins became a spoiled, entitled brat thinking the rules never applied to him. I have no sympathy for an athlete who was getting paid HUGE money but throws away his career. He'll probably get another chance to redeem himself as first rounders always do but looking at the track record of other first rounders who were given chances (most recently Johnny Manziel), Haskins will probably screw that up as well.
  15. That makes no sense. You believe that it's worse to have people stay in their homes than cramming thousands into shopping malls on Boxing Day & spreading the infection further thus lengthening the lockdown? Some not wearing masks? Politician with another empty promise for his constituents.
  16. Sorry Mark. Disagree, Overcrowded malls & social gatherings just invite infections.
  17. This was the best sci fi show on TV ... When I was 7. Not kidding. This is from 1961 & 62. Thity nine half hour episodes.
  18. Not surprising. Some of the Epic Fails of first round draft picks include Art Schlicter, Ryan Leaf, JaMarcus Russell, Johnny Manziel & now Dwayne Haskins. They might as well have shot themselves in the foot for destroying their careers. Drugs, booze, gambling, pnostitution... you name it as these bozos did it all or a part of it to themselves.
  19. Changed it for you.
  20. Hopefully this affects the morons who came out in the hundreds of thousands to malls such as West Edmonton, Cross Iron Mills & Chinook Centre here in Calgary as well as elsewhere in Alberta. Like they give a **** about anyone else. Boxing Day draws lineups to Calgary, Edmonton malls | CBC News
  21. QB Dwayne "Peanut Brain" Haskins cut by Washington today. Bad practice habits & video habits, lack of work ethic, selfishness as in celebrating a little too much in the locker room after the game when he threw for over 300 yards earlier this season that did not endear himself to his teammates, & coaches Made too many bad throws at critical times in games. Which came down to his lack of preparation. The final straw was attending his girlfriend's birthday party with 2 prostitutes & going maskless which violated NFL protocols. These athletes being given anything before they prove they are worth it. Stupid is as stupid does. NFL teams are just as stupid as their players.
  22. Not believing what he is hearing, the look on Bubbles face says it all.
  23. Yes but for him to leave Hamilton, he'll want to be paid perhaps the highest in the CFL. He'd probably take less to stay in Hamilton.
