If it's 4 downs they might. They sure won't watch 3 downs because for some reason it's not cool. So, what is there to lose when it comes to that demographic? They won't suddenly start when they're 40.

Yeah but the chickens came home to roost because of the pandemic. Hopefully in the longer term it turns out to be a blessing. Things change economically. That's all we can really hope for, right?

That's what the diehards here don't get. The CFL is becoming irrelevant. It's already like that in Toronto. The league will die anyway with the way things are going. We need to try something new. The definition of insanity is to keep doing things that don't work. If younger fans want to see 4 down football okay well, then that's what has to happen. I love 3 down football but I love the Blue Bombers more. I'll follow them wherever they go. It's all about the Team for me.

This is just an example of one of the revenue streams that may be available that the CFL can't access on its own.

So, what if.... this new league could get on a subscription service like Amazon Prime with 150 million customers world wide?
-
Nope. I wrote hockey off.

I can honestly say that when the Jets left Winnipeg in 1996, I stopped watching hockey. Totally & completely. I was angry & carried that anger for years after. I never switched allegiance to the Flames. In those 15 years I never watched one NHL game from start to finish. I didn't give a ****. And the Coyotes could go screw themselves. When the Jets came back in 2011, I started watching & caring again.

It's the ONLY comeback.

Well, so many people on social media seem against this but my question is, where were they in the stands in 2019 & the years before? That is a general question not limited to or directed at people here because most are fans who go to games. Same. I won't die on a hill defending Canadian rules & players if it means the team folds.

Dude, go write a book.

I'd be more worried about the CFL in its present state. They're broke. I don't think we know how bad it is. Ambrosie is making promises that teams will play. Teams are signing players, no fans allowed in the stands. I'm sure Randy goes into the back after another news conference & wonders how the hell the league will pull this off. I honestly think league bankruptcy is a real possibility. I saw a quote somewhere yesterday where Ambrosie said the XFL approached the CFL not the other way around. Do we really believe that statement? A league desperate for money is just sitting there & the XFL approaches them first??? I find that extremely hard to believe. This is why Ambrosie can't be trusted to tell the real truth. Just be honest with us. If it's bad we need to know as fans. We deserve at least that.

BC: Yes, the Seahawks have penetrated the Lower Mainland market & have put a huge dent in season ticket & game day sales for the Lions. Toronto: Lost cause. The Bills are Southern Ontario's team, especially Toronto. I remember when the Argos were routinely selling out Exhibition Stadium with 33,000 seats back in the early 70's. Montreal: If you don't win they don't support it. Except if it's the Canadiens. Lousy sports fans other than hockey. Calgary: Stadium issues. The place is becoming a dump & people don't want to go anymore. No new stadium in the future. Edmonton: Piss off the fanbase for such things as firing 49.75 year equipment manager, Dwayne Mandrusiak. Change the team name & take a year deciding. Then have a list of names no one likes. Paying Scott Milanovich half a million dollars to watch video only to see him quit without conducting one practice. The Edmonton GM parting words when Scotty left was. "I hope we're still friends". The fanbase is not happy.

Look, I appreciate you like Ambrosie. I don't. I never will. If the league is broke then he is a broken Commissioner. You can write all the thousand word essays telling me it's not his fault you like but it won't change my mind.
-
Depends how big Dinwiddie's ego is & if he is a good delegator. The last qb HC I remember with no coordinator experience was Matt Dunigan in Calgary & he ended up not only being the GM & HC but also the OC & qb coach. He fired his OC, qb coach & STC all in just one season. Naturally, it was a disaster.

How signing an agreement with mens league football in all these different countries would bring revenues into the CFL always escaped me. That's like walking Ambrosie into the pub after a Men's touch league games & getting a couple of guys to buy season tickets. It's smaller than miniscule. It's nothing. And it never will be more than nothing. That's the kind of shitty leadership he brings to the table.
-
No one said the league was hunky dory. We all know the league has issues so why tell us all over again? My issue with Ambrosie is he has done NOTHING to address the situation along with the Board of Governors. The CFL has allowed the situation to deteriorate over the years. Ambrosie is a weak leader. He brings nothing to the table as Commissioner. He hasn't brought any guidance to the job & he is connecting less & less with fans the longer he keep being Commissioner. You defend the guy but, can you give me one example of something positive he has done for the league since he took over. His Diversity Is Strength campaign sold a few Tee shirts 3 years ago. Big whoop.
-
Oh yes, I can feel vindicated... Not to worry. I've seen & heard enough from the guy.
-
A year ago I was vilified as being anti Ambrosie & even last week a couple of posters were still taking pot shots at me. Well, after today, I feel totally vindicated about everything I've said about the guy. He can't be trusted.
-
How can anyone trust Ambrosie? He hasn't earned any trust. The guy is a disaster as a Commissioner.
-
I don't think it's revenge. It's a huge Thank you as he never would have had the life he had if he made the Stamps.

I posted a question, I think it was around Xmas wondering if the XFL & CFL would form a new league. Everybody who responded pooh poohed it. Well, now... There are a number of issues here that make it hard to see this working. 1. The season. You can't play football in the Prairie Provinces in February & March so would the XFL be willing to move the season to May to October? 2. Where would XFL teams play as some were using NFL stadiums. 3. Exchange rate. Canadian teams are in the hole financially a minimum of 30%.... 4. US Immigration. Canadians weren't allowed to play on American CFL teams because it took away American jobs. I doubt thbat's changed. To compensate, rosters on CFL teams would have to drastically cut Canadian players & replace them with Americans. The good ones will make it. The borderline Canadians will all be gone. 5. Travel in the US will cost Canadian teams a fortune because of the exchange rate. 6. What rules would they use? American 4 down or Canadian 3 down. A mixture of both??? Field size?? Which one?? 7. Borders remain closed between our two countries & quarantining has to be done. 8. Why? So, to answer Noeller's question. No, my head did not explode but I don't think this "merger", if that is what it is can be done.

How are they going to keep all these free agents they signed?

We can have meaningful dialogue about the Riders on this forum. A deep & honest discussion about their team & fans. They suck. Absolutely they suck. They always will suck. They always have sucked. There, see? A meaningful & thoughtful discussion. That wasn't hard at all.
