  1. I don't like it either. You choose between a potential home-run against or death by a thousand papercuts. That's how we got MTL last night, Nichols just took what they gave and kept moving the chains. It's how BC (and everyone else) get us in the 4th quarter all the time.

I'm a little surprised the Alouette game plan wouldn't be to make a guy like Nichols force the ball deep downfield and take away the short/intermediate stuff (much like BC did last week when they had 3 drop deep and everyone else rallied to the ball underneath). You need to throw into some pretty tight windows to move the ball and with Dressler out that is one less weapon for our offence.

He still came out and played on offence for a while after that.  It was after the catch over the middle where he basically fell forward after catching the ball and got pilled on by a couple of Mtl defenders when I last noticed him on the field.  He kindof limped off after that play... could have still be from the original horse collar though.

I wonder if he was already laboring at that point, he didn't even try to get any YAC and just went right down.

You're wrong, plain and simple. O'Shea, in no way, has ANY resentment or bad attitude towards the FANS.

As to the media, as far as I'm concerned, they get out of O'Shea what they put into O'Shea. He respects hard work and due diligence. If some in the media don't show any aspect of that, how can you expect O'Shea not to have an attitude towards them?

Do you ever hear him snipe at guys like Irving or Tait, even some of the visiting media? Not me.

It just seems to be the local hacks who can't give two shits to even tweet about what goes on at practice, TC etc. but anytime they can fire off a hot take at his expense because he puts as much effort into his responses as they do the questions they ask and they get offended. Want good answers? Ask good questions. Pretty simple, and if people don't like MOS because he doesn't cowtow to that BS then so be it.

    Lost in it all VI.....

I was at the game and wasn't really able to tell due to the lack of the replays on the screens. But the ball that was stripped and then knocked back into play by montreal and Cunningham picking it up.....What is the ruling on that? Did the ball actually go out of bounds? It looked like it did but if it goes out of bounds in the air and is knocked back in is it still live? That was an unbelievable play by mtl either way!

The ref was staring at the line so he would have had the best view of if it touched the stripe or not. Nice athletic play for sure, but also risky in that it would have been MTL possession if he lets it go out of bounds there but by tossing it back in he leaves open the chance that we recover.

they're arrogantly THINKING they represent the fans.....but they're clueless. It's just not true anymore. With Twitter, and the club's own direct interaction with the fans, journalists no longer are the voice.....it hasn't been that way in AGES......the internet changes everything. "Reporters" (more accureately, columnists) are only representing themselves...

This is exactly it, that is why I love Ed Tait and Bob Irving. They can be critical of the team without running with a predetermined narrative, plus they actually give a **** about football whereas Wiecek can't wait to leave the stadium to go watch the ponies.

IMO opinion, the only thing, as fans, we are "entitled" to is the team showing up every week and giving 100% on every play... and that should be the coaches main responsibility... any other piece of news or info can stay in house for all I care... I just want my money's worth when the guys step on the field...

But...but... the reporters are the conduit between fans and players!!! We need them to get us answers on how the players need to keep playing hard, battling and giving 110%!

This is the exact same excuse we heard when Kuale was getting destroyed week after week.

That bull**** just doesn't cut it for me personally.

Even last year, part of the reason we got good was luck. O'Shea had no intention of benching Neufeld & Macho Harris for Loffler & Bond. Injuries forced his hand.

I don't think it was reasonable to expect a rookie like Loffler to come in and play like he did, let alone start him week 1. All credit to Loffler who stepped up when he got his opportunity but I think it people would have had knives out for MOS if he started a 3rd round pick Canadian S on opening night.

exactly.  for whatever reason, Oshea has rubbed certain people the wrong way and nothing short of a GC and an unblemished record from here on out will be enough to satisfy them..  I can't really understand it.  the guys done nothing but improve since being brought in as HC, has been mentioned as the reason why some guys chose to come or resign here, improved our ST to a very high level and has the team playing for each other and for him..

people act like  hes been at this for ever and should be amazing but forget this is first official gig as an HC and that he really was dropped into an unfriendly situation.. he wasn't gifted a turn-key GC level team like Jones was in EDM..

The same can be said for Dickenson in CGY, the team he inherited was built to win immediately. MOS/Walters took a team in shambles and has markedly improved each year. While I still have reservations that Nichols is THE guy to take us to the Grey Cup, this team is showing that they can compete with the upper echelon teams (save for CGY, those bastards) and that wasn't the case two years ago.

It's not that O'Shea has rubbed people the wrong way nor will it take an unblemished record and a GC to satisfy folks who don't consider O'Shea to be a great or even good HC.

All you have to do is look at his current record to figure out why some folks don't love MOS. He's in his 4th year and still below .500. He had 1 winning year in his first 3. He hasn't won a playoff game yet or got us to a home playoff game. His choices of coordinators leaves a lot to be desired as does his in game decision making.

From what I see, O' Shea has improved year over year and hopefully will continue to do so. There is something to be said for organizational stability and I think that plays a large role in FA signings and player retention.

O' Shea is not without his failings and definitely has room to improve as an HC, but I see him as a coach on the rise and personally I am thankful that he is our coach as I believe that he is the guy that can lead us going forward. You see what he does for his players and there is no doubt that they way he conducts himself to them has a positive impact and plays a huge role in guys like Westerman and Okpaulaugo coming here and a guy like Chungh who some thought would bolt the second he could hit FA signing an extension.

Again, people seem to think that because the team doesn't air grievances publicly, then it's not being done at all. Without a doubt, there's a lot of screaming and yelling that goes on, and they make sure **** gets fixed (or at least they try to fix it).....but you don't air anything in public. Everything stays within the walls of the offices/meeting rooms......which is how it should be.

Conversely, everyone would be bitching if he went all Chris Jones/Mike Kelly and aired everything out via the media. Some people's minds are made up and nothing MOS can do will change that.

No change during the season please.

If we did, it would likely be Costello taking over as OC and Glenn Young as DC.  Pretty hard to get anyone talented to come in mid-season because they are already employed elsewhere.

Agreed 100%. Firing a coordinator mid season is throwing in the towel on the entire year and our coordinators (warts and all) would be head and shoulders above any interim guy brought in.

We ride out this season and evaluate in the off-season.

Each is still only covering one man or zone at a time.  I'm not sure how much Randle could help Carmichael at HB or Heath help Walker at CB.  So basically all you'd be doing is taking one of our good DBs out of a high-traffic area and putting them into a lower-traffic area and moving an inexperienced DB into a tougher spot.

In other words, you could put Carmichael at boundary HB and he's just going to get picked on even more because it's an easier throw most of the time.  Randle would still have his own responsibilities to look after.  I suppose it could help with communication but not sure if that's been the issue or not.

Yeah my thought was more to improve communication, or to separate the rookies so they aren't isolated on one side of the field.

I thought too that if say you had Heath and Alexander on one side together and they were running zone, the QB needs to be accurate and on time with the throw or a guy like Heath can jump the route. Just another way to possibly help out the new guys.

A decent write up from Bomber Buzz:

"While Carmichael seems to be the consensus scapegoat for Bomber fans, it was actually Walker who made more crucial errors that Lulay was able to exploit.

Boundary defenders Chris Randle and TJ Heath were targeted merely a combined four times, which is a season-low for both the 2016 and 2017 seasons, by a team that attacks the short-side of the field more frequently than most offenses.

Instead, Lulay and the offense took their shots at field-side halfback Roc Carmichael and field-side cornerback Brian Walker, who each had 7 a whopping seven targets, while strong-side linebacker Brandon Alexander was tested three times himself."

I'm no expert so hopefully someone with more knowledge can enlighten me but wouldn't it make sense to split up Heath and Randle on opposite sides to prevent a team from staying away from them entirely as opposed to going unbalanced?
