  1. Field position was huge in the first half but the way Nichols was moving the ball then he was having success so his numbers could arguably have been better with a longer field. Not going to complain when we start every drive in opposition territory though. I will give the O the benefit of the doubt of playing safe to protect the lead but it was a little concerning that they struggled on 1st down so much after having great success in the 1st half on 1st down. Seemed like we tried to stretch the field a lot on first down, which led to 2nd and long a lot.
  2. I have to eat a little crow on this one. In the preseason I thought Nichols was awful, I wanted Davis at #2. Glad I don't get paid to make these decisions.
  3. One of the fondest memories I have is the playoff game vs Hamilton in the supposed last game at CanadInns, I felt like Ralphie's brother in A Christmas Story I was wearing so many layers and wouldn't change it for the world. Winnipeg is cold, may as well steer into the skid and play these games in the nastiness that is our climate.
  4. So as much as we railed on Walters and co. for their poor US scouting and apparent lack of depth on the team during our poor start, based on the last few weeks we maybe have to revisit that idea. Here is the game 1 starting lineup and now the depth behind the starters (in some cases former starters): QB: Willy/Nichols HB: Harris WR: Davis WR: Dressler/K. Adams SB: Smith/Denmark SB: Davis SB: D. Adams/Mayo WR: Kohlert LT: Bryant LG: Hardrick/Bond C: Goossen RG: Chungh RT: Neufeld/Hardrick DE: Green/Cole DE: Westerman/Corney DT: Shologan DT: Cummings WIL: Bass/Wild MLB: Wild/Bass/Knox SAM: Leggett/Burnett CB: J. Adams/Frederick CB: Randle/Roberts HB: Posey/Fogg HB: B. Johnson S: M. Harris/Loffler I included guys like Knox and Burnett due to their work on teams, you could also add guys like Waggoner and D. Jones as well as they were Walters guys as well. Obviously it's only 2 games but based on the supposed issues we had with depth when we were 1-4 I think we need to acknowledge the fact that these depth guys have been integral to our success over the last 2 weeks.
  5. For sure. Throw in Gordon, Simon, Bruce, Derick Armstrong was good for a while, then TEdwards. We were spoiled for a while there. Who knows, maybe Mayo, Davis, Adams could be the next superstar. Although it seems like the NFL is poaching the league now more than ever so we may not see the continuity like before.* * I know Stegall and Gordon were shuttling north and south for a while but they were short-lived.
  6. A list of my jerseys includes: Harold Nash away (stitched) Chris Brazzell home (press on numbers) Derick Armstrong away (press on numbers) Kevin Glenn home (stitched) Charles Roberts home (stitched) Siddeeq Shabazz home (stitched) Cory Watson home (pro twill) Drew Willy home (pro twill) Not much to write home about there...
  7. Np. I'm never gonna get rid of that damn thing am I?
  8. Damn I wish it weren't true but I feel like I really took it for granted when Milt was in the lineup. I grew up watching him play for us and just naturally assumed he would always be here. We've needed that game breaking receiver ever since he retired.
  9. I can't remember a season when we had multiple weather delays like this. Hopefully it tapers off or slows down until the late evening.
  10. Never mind, I had to 6-game it after hanging it next to my Dan West jersey in the closet.
  11. I have a Cory Watson jersey I would part with for a nominal fee
  12. Ouch, that's gonna hurt the walk up big time. Combine it with a Wednesday night, could look pretty empty. Hopefully there are no weather delays!
  13. Does anyone know what the ticket sales are like for tonight?
  14. Kevin MacDougall, Troy Kopp, Pat Barnes, Mike Quinn, Tee Martin, Reggie Slack, Bryan Ah Yat, Jose Davis. The list of HOF talent throwing at him goes on...
  15. Not to nitpick but didn't Davis start the last game of the Year for us vs Toronto last season?
  16. Add the fact that high draft picks will get a longer leash as opposed to a UDFA or older vet.
  17. This is true, same in Calgary. The benefit is they have an established, proven starter ahead of them to learn from and groom behind. They aren't rushed, save for injury, and when the starter returns the job is his again and the prospect gets relegated back to the backup role. It's hard to groom a QB for the future when it's a constant carousel at the starter position. There is also a consistent theme when it comes to teams and the ability to develop a QB - coaching. Calgary has had Huff and Dickenson on staff for what seems like an eternity and same with Barker and Milanovich in Toronto. A new regime wants to bring in their own guys and if we clean house every 2-3 years, chances are any leftover prospects will get flushed along with them.
  18. Yep, that was against Hamilton I believe. Convinced the wife to let me watch in on our honeymoon. Jyles had a horrible deep ball too. Any deep route along the sidelines and the ball ended up four rows into the stands.
  19. Too bad on McDuffie, he's been getting some decent yardage for us this year and it seemed like he was poised to break one soon. That having been said, Fogg has been a more than adequate replacement. Every time I watched Doe returning for Edmonton, I was more and more thankful that he was returning for Edmonton and not for us.
  20. Starting 3 rookie receivers and a QB in his 2nd game in the system will put that much more onus on Harris and the O-line dominating the LOS again. That Hamilton front four can get after it too, especially Nevis and Laurent in the interior so Bond, Goossen and Chung need to step up and prevent Harris from being met in the backfield (which prior to last week was the case more often than not).
  21. Loffler's passport doesn't hurt either. Another ratio option to keep Bond on the line.
  22. The biggest problem with Nate was no matter what the topic was he would hijack the thread to beat whatever dead horse topic (usually Lyle) or add his awful nicknames, often making his posts nonsensical and incoherent. I'll take the current state of MBB over that any day.
