  1. Probably because the only constant in all the years of failure is us, the fans. That and rarely does a coach want to be the guy to reinvent the wheel. Sooner to try the same thing over and over if it's conventional and universally accepted practice.
  2. That easy toss to McDuffie for 6 was painful. I thought that was going to cost us later in the game for sure. Willy would have been crucified by us if he missed that throw. In fact, one of the main factors in the fan revolt on Willy has been his inaccuracy and missing open receivers (The MTL and HAM games come to mind). We can ***** and moan all we want about the missed opportunities to pad the score but honestly, how many of us actually thought we would be dissecting a Bomber WIN in Edmonton this morning? How refreshing is it to utter those words. All of the external issues were screaming a blowout loss and they got their collective **** together and not only squeaked out a win but were the better team for the full 60. I'll worry about missed opportunities etc. when they are relative to the specific game but every team misses during the game and it's how you respond to adversity what matters. When the Esks got the score to within 10, we marched right back down the field and got the 7 back. How many times have we seen the Bombers 2 and out and give all momentum back? Too many times to count. Let's enjoy this one and reflect on the fact that a win on Wednesday puts us right back in the conversation in the West.
  3. Bowman was noticeably wincing on camera after that one. Can't blame him.
  4. Yeah anything that was a signing bonus is gone, but future earnings are not guaranteed. I'm not sure if the amount in bonuses out there or not (it probably is) but we can always cut bait next year if there are better options available. We all know Walters likes to spend in FA and if Willy isn't the guy then he's going to need some $$ to sign Logan Kilgore in a year or two
  5. Plus the fact that the money isn't guaranteed means they only are on the hook for this year (no way we cut him in season, let alone before league vet deadline). MOS has to push all the chips he has left to the table to get us to the playoffs. If Willy's feelings are hurt in the process so be it. No way he can accuse MOS of being disloyal at this point.
  6. It's nice to be in the position that we need him on the field. After the first few games the yardage wasn't piling up I was a little worried that there maybe wasn't a lot of tread left on the tires. Injuries and inconsistency at QB held him back but in the last few weeks he has been the same old Dressler I freaking hated when he was in Sask. Adams is most valuable to us when everyone else is in the lineup, Dress and Smith can allow him to take the top off the defense with them running crossers and digs underneath. It would be nice if one of the newcomers (Sheppard, Mayo, Davis) could become more consistent in that regard. I thought that maybe Davis would be that guy but so far they seem to like him near the LOS rubbing pass rushers in a hybrid TE position, which is fine but he won't get downfield in a hurry. Mayo could possibly be that guy, who knows.
  7. Good grief we can't catch a break this year with injuries, and not just the PR scrubs and Patrick Neufeld. Randle, Adams, Johnson, Posey, Dressler x 2, Adams just off the top of my head. Losing Macho was an unexpected upgrade to Loffler so I won't count that ;). Denmark is a suitable injury replacement for us. He might help guide guys like Mayo, Davis, Sheppard and would know the Lapo system somewhat. Sooner him than Kevin Cone (shudder).
  8. Yeah those screen passes are useless when there isn't a run game to respect. It was also nice to see Nichols throw the ball past the LOS the majority of the time. I think I saw a stat yesterday that had Willy at 13 more passes at or behind the LOS than any other QB so far this year. I know some of it is designed but Willy has a tendency to give his first read 2 seconds and then check it down.
  9. It was nice to see Bond step in and play well. I'm hardly an authority on o-line play but he looked pretty good to me when I payed attention to him. Hardrick always seems so pumped for his teammates too after plays, good energy. Credit where it's due, Shayon Green put the tackle on skates and backed him into Reilly to impede his follow through on the Frederick INT. Nice to see Westerman absolutely plaster Reilly to the turf in the 4th quarter. More please. Frederick can ball. Made some nice tackles, the one on the bubble screen pops out in my mind and obviously had a nice break on the ball for the INT. Loffler and Fogg had nice games as well. Was Adarius wearing his old Bomber jersey under his Eskimos one? He was bobbling passes all night, easy ones too. Nichols had a nice game, a few hiccups and one wonders how the game could have turned if the EDM CB doesn't drop the INT on that 2nd and long duck that Nichols threw up to Adams but all in all better play at the QB position than we have received thus far. I must have Bomber PTSD because I can't shake the "How are we gonna blow this one" feeling, even in the dying minutes of the 4th quarter last night. A few more complete efforts like this one and we may escape the wilderness and go into September with a real shot at the playoffs.
  10. Green has had no positive effect in any game this year. Right now the Shayon Green highlight reel consists of blown run contain and one of the dumbest unnecessary penalties I have ever seen. Roberts is always one Bowman/Walker go route away from the bench. I can't see how Jones or Morgan couldn't provide similar results.
  11. Woo! Training camp 2.0 starts now! In all seriousness though, Roberts out is an immediate upgrade and I agree on Loffler. If he stays healthy he could be a difference maker. BJ in is a wash with Randle out, but glad to have him back nonetheless. Hopefully his early season stumbles are behind him (maybe injuries had something to do with it?) I like Mayo but he wasn't really a factor when he was in so I'm OK with Sheppard coming in. Someone needs to put an ABP out for Jace Davis too, his last few games I haven't noticed him much. I would expect Nichols to force feed Dressler tomorrow, based solely on the mop up time last week.
  12. Weston Dressler, why the hell not?
  13. If Lapo is head coach by the end of the year we get to bring up all of his past failures, as well as blame him for Trump.
  14. I would agree to an extent, but the complete gutting of talent on that D is staggering. Grymes, Ojo, Foster, McCoil all gone. Would be tough for anyone to replace that many impact starters right away, not to mention install a new playbook. That D line should be picking up more slack though. Good thing for them Thursday is not far away...
  15. I see, so it's Tim Brown disease. I swear there's 5 new Tim Brown's at training camps in the league every year.
  16. So much this. I get the rage from the fanbase every year that goes by and adds to the drought but unless we bring back a retread from the past that failed already, the new regime doesn't own those failures. Sure, it's up to them to try to end the drought but I think it's unfair to pin past mistakes on them too. That having been said, how come no one has asked MOS why we cut Kevin Glenn for Stefan Lefors? I demand answers!
  17. I'm 72% sure he never came here.
  18. I guess I should clarify. Maybe a more appropriate title are "forgotten players/also-rans". Walls and Wickman were good players, you just don't hear their names when it comes to alumni very often.
  19. I'd be happy with Trestman if he were to come back. Maybe a bad year from Flacco (#elite) would shake him loose. I don't know how much say he had in personnel matters there though with Popp at the helm so I don't know how successful he would be in that regard or what his connections down south would be although he should have made some in his tenure in Chicago and Baltimore.
  20. Couple more I forgot: Gavin Walls Wes Lysack Andre Arlain Ryland Wickman (and his dad for those who were on OB back in the day)
  21. This is the conundrum we find ourselves in. There is a quality head coach in waiting in Montreal in Noel Thorpe who plays a very aggressive style, but would we really want a rookie HC again? NO way he comes here in a lateral move, he tried that this offseason and the CFL nixed it anyways. Who else is available to fix the D if they let Hall go too?
  22. I distinctly remember on Derrick Smith catch where he dragged a guy for a few yards and then just threw him off and ran in for a TD. Thought that guy would stick around. Kevin Smith was another RB we brought in from the NFL that didn't get it. Kliff Kingsbury is an up and coming coach with Texas Tech now. Didn't Timmy Chang get arrested last year?
