  1. Yeah Green is coming around. I really liked Cole last year, glad we were able to get him back. That's the second time in 2 weeks that Green just bullrushed and pushed the tackle back into the QB. The coaches keep talking about how physically gifted he is, now it looks like we are starting to see it too.
  2. That's the big question. I would be hesitant to get rid of Willy based on two starts from Nichols. Let's see where this thing goes for a few more weeks, the schedule starts to lighten up a bit and we might be able to string together a few more W's. We all know how valuable depth is at the QB position and now that we finally have it, it's not in our best interests to go back to square one. Let Walters manage the numbers and make everything work, but unless we have to cut an impact starter somewhere else on the roster it doesn't make sense to let Willy go. Say what you want about him, but he would be a more than adequate backup QB.
  3. I guess 1 AM on a Wednesday night/Thursday morning and an extra 2.5 hours of alcohol consumption can leave one speechless.
  4. I guess if Nichols connects on a couple more of the go routes to Adams we could be talking about how the offense kept going. Doesn't help when Bryant shoves a guy well after the play to put us in 2nd and long when we were trying to kill the clock either.
  5. McDuffie has been just fine back there. I would be cautious with using a full time DB as a returner on both punts and kickoffs. McDuffie also gives us an option on offense if we run into injuries there (unlikely I know)
  6. Oh dear god yes. The Bomber narratives will be re-written in one fell swoop!
  7. Exorcised a lot of ghosts last two weeks. Win in Edmonton, beat Mike Reilly, beat Hamilton at IGF, back to back wins, over 30+ points. That gorilla on the back of the franchise got a little lighter.
  8. A couple of factors could play into that. First game in 3+ years and he did get banged up during the game. His injury history is concerning though but hopefully going forward they are just minor and he can continue to ball. Those jump balls could come in handy in situations like last night where he gets 1-on-1 against a smaller DB and it's just a case of going up the ladder.
  9. This is what I was thinking last night. Give him the yards at that juncture, don't get beat over the top for a quick score and make him eat up the clock by dumping it off underneath. Exactly the playbook that Calgary has employed on us twice this year. Richie Hall's D has been notoriously cushioned off the LOS, and that's without a 34 point lead.
  10. Colour me shocked that Chris Jones would attempt to circumvent a rule.
  11. I suppose the only exception would be if Nichols has a bonus clause based on games started in his contract, as per the link. http://3downnation.com/2016/08/04/nichols-bombers-back-track-_-thoughts/ Despite all his struggles, I would feel more comfortable with Willy off the bench than Davis.
  12. He was also relegated to kicking 70 yard FG's because our offense couldn't get past midfield. I'm sure his recovery also has been aided by the offense moving the ball and sustaining drives, getting further into opposition territory.
  13. Our cover teams have been dynamite all year and last night was no exception. I can't believe I would but after FG's I was hoping we would kick off to Banks just so we could pin them inside the 20 again.
  14. Sometimes it takes reps for guys to get a feel for the system and for the coaches to put them in a position to succeed. Far too often we write off players after one or two games saying that they don't have it but these things take time. Every now and then you find a guy who is plug and play right away but more often a player needs a few weeks to get his feet wet and really get acclimated. The problem with that is, and it was mentioned on TSN1290 yesterday, that it's better to learn and win at the same time as opposed to racking up L's as the guys get settled.
  15. Bond is a big, big man and is great in the interior but he just doesn't have the speed to get out in front and block on those tosses/stretch runs. Mayo was a pedestrian on one play too where Lee came in and made the tackle on Harris, just gave him the ol' matador and let him through. We saw last week when he wasn't being contacted behind the LOS he had success, this week was more of a struggle. He didn't really have any holes and had to try to make them himself. The one thing I will say for Andrew Harris is the dude never gives up and his attitude from a fan's perspective is awesome to see. He is on the sidelines firing guys up and you can see his intensity on every play. For me, the play where Laurent had him dead to rights in the backfield and Harris just threw him off and ended up getting 8-9 yards was just an all out effort play. We haven't seen that much around these parts lately.
  16. Chris Garrett scoring a meaningless TD after running it down Hamilton's throats should have (and I am choosing to remember it this way) been the last play at CanadInns.
  17. He sure can go up and get it. Reminds me of Chris Matthews. The one thing I will give Davis is he is good at the LOS when he comes in to block. I saw a couple instances where he was able to crack down on the edge and open it up but for whatever reason we don't feel inclined to throw the ball his way. The first few weeks he was making plays and I saw one play last night where if Nichols had a second longer in the pocket Davis was open on the post and it would have been 6. Worked out OK though, he hit Mayo underneath and then hit Mayo again for that beautiful TD throw.
  18. I feel for those volunteers in a situation like yesterday. I'm sure they have limited training when it comes to long delays and inclement weather. I'm sure they had to deal with a few a-hole fans bitching about the weather too, like they had something to do with it.
  19. I was pretty tempted to make the 1 hour drive in and see if they would let me sneak in and watch. I didn't know what to do with myself once we built that lead. We just kept pouring it on, everything was going our way. It was a far too familiar feeling, albeit we were on the good side of it for once.
  20. Ditto on Fogg. I wasn't sold on him in Week1 but man is he a keeper. His return skills are an extra asset but his coverage has been excellent.
  21. I think at this point you have to let Adams back in there, but only when he is 110% ready. No need to rush him at this point. Randle needs to go back in, he's our best player back there. It's just nice to know that if an injury occurs, we have the guys ready to step in and make plays. A bonus is when the offseason rolls around if we need to shed salary (or a guy like Adams heads to the NFL) we don't need to look to a washed-up FA to backfill.
  22. As an addendum, how nice was it to see Denmark back making plays for us out there. He was always such a class act here, I'm glad that there were no hard feelings from the offseason and he was able to come back. Our team is better with him in than without.
