Bob is the best - pure and simple.  Too bad only Winnipeg gets to hear him.

I think TBurg's predictions are pretty solid, based on what we know now.  My guess, based on nothing more than what I saw last year, aging everyone a year and accounting for offseason moves is:
Disclaimer:  I always consider coach + QB first and foremost, then Canadian content second.
    East:
Hamilton - If QB stays healthy for any extended period during season, they should be the class of a weak division.
Ottawa - Solid team with a promising young QB.  NI's under-rated.
Toronto - finish out of playoffs with some promising moments.
Montreal - DD is not enough.  Something is still wrong with this organization.
    West:
Calgary - likely slip a bit in total wins, but they come through in the 4th quarter and will pile up enough wins to take top spot in a tough, tough division
BC - Love their young QB, along with an exceptional receiver group.  Oh and they have Wally.
Winnipeg - Solid team.  Not enough starter level Canadians.  Need to improve secondary, so they don't have to play that style of defense and can dictate to offenses.
Edmonton - Love their QB.  The rest of their team is so-so.  But MR will pull enough games out to keep this interesting.
Saskatchewan - I really try hard not to ever actively root against anyone and remain as objective as possible, but Jones is making that increasingly difficult.  Still, he will have them ready and they will surprise people throughout the season.
Don't get me wrong, I think the race in the west is going to be tighter than we have seen it many years.  It might be like the year that all three teams in the western playoffs finished 10-6 and the Bombers had to travel to BC - Grady Caveness tipped the Brock pass just out of reach of Mike Holmes to seal the win.  Maybe this time it will be TJ Heath getting a pick 6 off Jennings in the final moments in IGF.
I know this looks too much like last year's final standings, which means that it definitely won't happen.  There will be surprises on both ends of the spectrum.  But that is my best guess right now.

Great to hear that someone would bring their knitting to practice.  Great CFL story.
That was my first thought.  My second thought was how could she possibly get knitting needles into a public event.  Sad that we even have to think that way.

Matt Nichols is still the starter but Mike O'Shea has stated he is "on thin ice" due to having a child recently.  MOS believe players should be totally focused on football.
Clarence Denmark was busted in the off-season for steroids so he'll miss the first 4 games of the season.
Against everyone's better judgment, the Bombers drafted only "players who could bench more than 25 reps at the combine".  Walters stated that "CIS football is low quality so I don't bother watching game film."
The Bombers traded next year's first round pick to the Alouettes for SJ Green but he retired recently.
Terrence Edwards recently came out of retirement but he's dealing with a turf toe issue.

Sucks for Hamilton for sure.  They are so overdue.  The city and the fans deserve it.  I have heard many times over the last couple of decades about how they aren't able to hold one, but I have never understand it.  They have a great owner, strong team management (notwithstanding the egomaniacal- but still competent head coach) and a super fan base.
Still all-in for an Edmonton Grey Cup!

    Sam Hurl and Mike Miller
Sam Hurl wants his old job back.
Hurl believes he’s become a better player..."I think I’ve grown up over the years," he said. "You learn a lot throughout playing football. Just another year in (defensive co-ordinator Richie Hall’s) defence. So, I think I’m continuing to progress and getting smarter and better in football. My football IQ, I would say, has increased tremendously."
No doubt, there’s a lot of trust," said O’Shea of Hurl. "There are little things Sam does as a professional football player that is a great barometer for the other guys. The way he runs to the ball, his understanding of the entire defence, his willingness to speak up in meetings. Same with Ian Wild, he sets a pretty high standard. Sam has a lot of those qualities. I think also when you’ve been here, you step on the field first but Sammy does a great job."
Miller went undrafted out of Acadia and played his entire six-year career with the Eskimos. His versatility is expected to be a good fit in Winnipeg.
Said Miller: "There’s a good fit here. They take a lot of pride in their special teams here with coach O’Shea and (GM) Kyle Walters. I’ve always noticed how they have a good core of Canadians and special-teams players in general.
"He led the league in special-teams tackles last year," said O’Shea.
"You coach against a guy like that and he’s one of those guys you have to pay attention to all the time. You have to put your best matchup on him...
"The film showed that’s the guy I saw at Acadia and that’s the same guy I seen with the Eskimos and now, for us. We did a drill the other day and as I watched him, he’s got it all together. He just knows how to play, use his techniques, his body."

Perfect assessment of Kevin Glenn.  With even a reasonable team around him, he will produce.  His career summary will likely be "one of the very best you-could-do-a-lot-worse QB's in the history of the CFL."

Careful what you wish for.  Make a deal with a monstrosity like the NFL and you have to expect that sooner or later they will come back with the (in your best Vito Corleone voice) "I am asking you for a favour."
As long as the CFL is afloat they have a form of a farm league without spending a penny.
If they invest, why would they want i to stick with 3 downs?  Defense a yard off the ball? on a bigger field? Canadian ratio?
