  1. Yes I am sure you are correct. The Bombers have clearly given up on the season and the best we can hope for now is a good draft pick.
  2. It would be great to bring up Mulumba, but that will not fix the immediate issue. You can't bring an NFL DL, and that is what he is at this point, and start him. If they brought him in now and he was a quick study, he might be able to play in time for the BC games though.
  3. QB's get hit like no other player. They can only be effective if they remain focused on what is happening beyond the incredible scrum going on around them. They have to step into the middle of the scrum (the pocket) and then extend their body completely in order to throw the ball accurately. Until you do it, you will never be able to appreciate what the great ones are able to do. Other players generally know when they are going to get hit and prepare for it. They are trained to function in so I hear people complaining that the rules are the same as flag football when it comes to the QB's. That is the furthest thing from the truth. The officials need to be protect them.
  4. The Riders have a chance to knock off the Stamps this weekend and, gulp, that is what Bombers fans should probably hope for. The Bombers need to keep winning and need Calgary to get beaten a few times. Why do I feel I need to take a shower now?
  5. There is no reason to complicate an argument with facts. Facts like winning 8 of 11 games knowing the defense is going to allow over 30 points against in every game. The Bomber offense has been very good. Apparently in spite of the OC.
  6. For those who want to talk about how terrible tackling is today, they should look at real game footage from the 60's, 70's, 80's and so on. You will see busted tackles all over the screen in every era. And we used to teach and be taught to go low and put your head in front of the ball carrier. The stress to the head and neck of every player was crazy.
  7. My first thought when I heard this was: what idiot coach in the CFL is practicing with full contact in pads after training camp? This is either window dressing and it will have limited impact on anyone, or there was a coach somewhere who thinks it is 1990. And anybody who thinks that teaching outstanding tackling requires pads and full contact, hasn't watched a Seattle Seahawks game over the last 5 years. This isn't the end of civilization. It is the acknowledging today's reality and making sure that some idiot coach doesn't get scared that his job is on the line and wants to make the fans happy by telling them that he made the players wear full pads after a loss.
  8. I don't understand firing Thorpe. Nothing wrong with that defense other than several players being close to their best before date. But there is no problem with scheme or play calling.
  9. I am not writing them off. They have the best QB, a good to great receiving corps and enough pieces overall to make a run at the right time. They have more than the Red Blacks had last year. Well, except for an easy division.
  10. I would think the logical first stops in the East would be Ottawa and Hamilton, where the CFL matters.
  11. I don't see much of an option. My guess is that he and Foketi will be the scratches.
  12. The Bombers need to completely forget this "fake injury" crap and just play better football. If they block and tackle better, the Bombers win that game regardless of whether players are doing their best Fred Sanford "this is the big one! I'm coming to join you Elizabeth!"
  13. Arguing whether it is a 2 point or 4 point game is missing some of the importance of this game. The Bombers need to win at least one of these games because that will give them the season series.
  14. What do the two things have in common? Are you saying you hope the Bombers take Alexander off the field in exchange for this new National rookie DB just so they can put a rookie international MLB on the field?
  15. Leggett deserves the nod over Randle because of his overall impact on the team. The defense is completely different with his return. I am surprised that Gainey is not listed.
  16. I always find it interesting that posters criticize Glenn, but say that if not for his broken arm the Bombers would have won the 2007 Grey Cup. If these posters are to believed, then Glenn would have thrown 7 pick-6's in the game. Kevin Glenn is a good QB. Always has been. He has an accurate quick release, is generally efficient and reads defenses well. He is not a great QB for an equal number of reasons, but give the guy credit.
  17. Art Briles is a heck of football coach and has a brilliant offensive mind. He completely lacks a moral compass.
  18. Our left side is solid, but the right side is adequate.
  19. MOR - Walker ST - Medlock (but giving Fogg some consideration) MODP - Leggett (Randle is another option) MOL - Bryant (some consideration to Bond) MOC - Harris MOP - Nichols
  20. I like the stats being on the score board and have heard nothing but positive feedback about it.
  21. I don't ever remember Oshea lying to the media. Is he always completely frank? Of course not. If he were, he would be someone that no player would want to play for and his team would have baled on him during the tough times.
  22. Talk about prisoners of the moment! All these posters writing off Wally Buono as a coach and GM after one game where his team was flat. Pretty sure they won't be singing that tune in a few months. Everybody, and I mean everybody, has bad games.
  23. This is just one of those games that you chalk up to football. I take nothing away from it. Every team in this league can win any time they lace it up. Some games, the coaches miss on the game plan and the players just aren't into it. Jennings is a good QB and can become a great one. He is a gunslinger though and just like Brock, Mcmanus , Burris and many more - when they get picked 3 times in a game, they are still going to believe they can fit the ball into a non-existent window and throw 2 more. Fans think they are stupid, but love them when they bring their teams back from the brink using the exact same philosophy.
  24. It is always game to game. The Ticats have no number one receiver and nobody that scares defenses. Combine that with a QB who's gotten dinged this season, and the game plan is going to have extra rushers on every play. That looks like they are becoming more aggressive. and I think behind the comment. The Eskimos won't present the same game plan and the Bombers D will likely be less aggressive to protect some weak cover in the back end.
