  1. I expect Nichols to start and play the whole game.
  2. Great decision. Bob is iconic and likely the most unbiased reporter that I know. That is only one reason though. The bigger one is that the Bombers will always be second to the Jets on TSN. Hockey runs 10 months of the year whereas the Bombers season is July to November. I enjoy TSN 1290, but they often become hard to listen to when it comes to football. Almost none of their commentators understand the game. It drives me crazy to listen to a sports guy tell the world his judgement of a player or coach when he clearly doesn't understand what he is seeing (if he even watched the game).
  3. I'm not sure if that is actually how it generally works. I think they find it works better to try to create some urgency in making people feel that they are hot item and you will miss your chance if you wait, than saying there are lots of seats available and you can wait.
  4. Interesting thought. There has always been an asterisk next to Cahoon's achievements as a "Canadian" in my mind - and maybe in others as well. The Westermans as well. They are great players but only had the designation because of a technicality. It would be interesting to check back and see if there seems to be a biased over the years with this award.
  5. You posted the dishonest calculations for cold fusion? I thought you just made a ludicrous statement in an obviously trolling effort. But maybe this is about advanced physics.
  6. Interesting infographic since pretty much every learned scribe in the country is completely writing off the Bombers. They are a huge underdog even though they are at home it would appear if you listen to the media. Is this fake news? Or are the media just liars? If only I had invented the internet, I would know for sure.
  7. The western linebackers are, um, all linebackers.
  8. Don't want to do anything that might injure it more than it currently is. Now it is about protecting the calf. When they get him ready for the game it will be a completely different approach. It will be all about pain management.
  9. I am always disappointed with Bomber playoff attendance. Sometimes I think Winnipegers are happier to complain that their teams never win anything. Or, maybe it is that the crowd who go only to get noticed outside the rum hut don't want to come because it is harder to notice or get noticed when you are dressed for a winter game. I hope I am wrong this time and we fill the place. Even if it is only 24,000, it will be the right 24,000 and it will be loud regardless.
  10. If Westerman could come back at any point in the playoffs it would be huge. It would mean that we could consistently play Johnson and Nevis at the same time. If it means we could start 8 legit NI's then the flexibility we have increases substantially on both sides of the ball. Adams coming back would mean that we could sit one of our import receivers. I think both are just a pipe dream though.
  11. This is so true. Strange how the Montreal OL has never looked the same since AC left. The OC and the QB have so much influence on protections and play calling that put the big boys in the positions to be effective. Fans go crazy when the QB throws a 5 yard pass as a primary on 2nd and 10, but completely disregard the free rusher who would have killed the QB if he had stuck with his called 7-step drop. +5 vs -10 - that's an extra 15 yards on the punt.
  12. The only must-add for this game is Nichols. Did I miss something, or is Adams not out until next year?
  13. Cool your jets everybody with the accusations about the SMS. Every year fans of every team point to other teams and say they are cheating. Yet, there have been very few violations, and of a minor nature when it happens. I have hear a lot of players complain that they wish they made what the media says they make. Now, do some teams play in cities where they have some corporate supporters that help to find outside work for players? Probably. But I never have a problem with hearing a player telling me about the car dealership I should check out. If you want the Bombers to keep a good player, you could always offer to put the second mortgage on your house and hire one to be your window washer each week for $500 a window.
  14. I like the decision to go with Lefevour in this game. They are going all out to win this game and the Stampeders aren't far behind them. There is a lot more at stake for the WFC than there is for the fans. The fans want to see the Bombers win a Grey Cup. So does the team, but the team really wants a home playoff game ... with a packed house. The chance of that happening are a lot better if the team somehow-anyway possible - wins on Friday. Money is important. And that should make for a more interesting game on Friday. They want to win the game and Lefevour gives them a puncher's chance. The game will be played in tough conditions and a playmaking athletic QB can be the difference. Lefevour is a big strong athletic QB. He is a tough runner and comes out swinging (good and bad). Give me a break on the "but MOS said Davis was #2" and "but he is so loyal" talk. Coaches are loyal to whatever and whoever gives them the best chance to win. There is always a silent add on to whatever the coach says. "Smith is our starter!" Really means "Smith is our starter! ... until I find someone better."
  15. The two best races involve Bomber players. The Harris/Singleton and Nichols/Reilly debates are both good ones. Harris might have a shot because of the tendency to split the awards and Singleton could take the defensive award. If the award was most valuable player to their team, the Nichols wins in a cake walk. All you have to do is look at the last three quarters of the Hamilton and BC games and compare it the last three quarters of every other game the Bombers played and you see completely different teams. With Nichols, the Bombers are able to overcome shortcomings everywhere and win 11 of 15 games. But if they look to stats as the differentiator then Reilly wins. Not really that bad an outcome anyway because he is the best player in the league.
  16. They pulled Davis because he could not get rid of the ball. He took sacks because of indecision. At the time, putting the veteran backup in appeared to be a good decision. Knowing now that LeFevour was going to be worse , it is easy to second guess. LeFevour can be good or bad. He took over a game plan that was not suited for his skill set and he wasn't able to adjust.
  17. Better option than Carr - try the receivers we currently have on the roster, partly because the y know the offense. Carr was a mediocre receiver several years ago. I have never understood some people's crush on him over the years. He is tall and has some, but not elite, speed. He was never a good route runner nor was he a beast at fighting the ball in traffic. Hid hands were okay but not great. Why do you think he could never stick with any other CFL team? They cannot bring anyone with in week 20 who will have any impact on this year.
  18. That is a really good point. The league is going to have to find a solution. They said that when the 9th team came back too, and I would say that the Canadian talent is better now than in the past. One thing is for sure though; they can't stretch the definition of National any further. As it is now, it feels like you are Canadian if your great grandmother ate poutine once. One thing that will add more interest among Canadian youth will be to have a team in the maritimes. There are very few players in the CFL who hale from that part of the country. That is the long view though. Perhaps allow teams to keep a separate National development group who graduated from the CIS in the last 4 years.
  19. I was talking about Buono. I never heard anyone speak highly about Matthews as a person. Matthews was a great coach and completely changed the way defense was played for two decades, but that is where the admiration stops.
  20. I have never heard this before. I would think there would be good synergy between the two programs. Is it true or speculation?
  21. They are on Atlantic time.
  22. The one big difference between Wally and the Don is that everybody who knew and knows him speaks highly of him as a person. A great human being as well as a legend. I thought he played the game and coached the game the right away throughout.
  23. That is what the slide is supposed to be. The second they start that slide, they are ruled down and the whistle is to be blown.
  24. This season will have no impact on Buono's legacy. He was a terrific linebacker and outstanding special teamer, and a legendary coach and GM. Buono did a reasonably job of coaching this year. He had the wheels fall off when his QB situation strangely unraveled. Before that happened, they were a shoe-in to make the playoffs and potentially another Grey Cup run. His team is still talented and the QB will still likely continue on with an impressive career. There is a lot of talent on this team and they could very well win out. The Bombers better not sleep on this team.
  25. You are completely wrong here! He is actually an excellent coach. The rest is accurate.
