  1. The out of the two lowest in the season. What if his 5+ fg games where more human? hes kicked 17 fgs out side of 40 yards. 17. Games where he kicks 5+ attempts. 29/31 94%. We won all those games. Our points off turn overs has been dismal in many games, and tons of times we've been kicking field goals when we do score off those turn overs. Sure the D making plays is huge. But weve seen slow stints in the turn overs and those games ground to a dead heat. Not to mention the D in the last 3 games has been far poorer then prior to that. With the riders driving the ball at will, and a mediocre qb tossing 4 tds against us. week 3 vs hamilton we won by 4, he kicked 4 fgs /12 points. 4/6 week 6 vs edmonton we won by 7 he kicked 5 fgs / 15 points. 5/5 week 10 vs montreal we won by 14 he kicked 6 / 18 points. 6/6 week 11 vs crieders we won by 3 he kicked 7 fgs / 21 points. 7/8 week 13 vs the argos we won by 17 he kicked 6 / 18 points. 6/6 if we had westwood kicking we might win one of those games. If the D didnt put us in position and save some games we would be similarly bad. But thats not taking into consideration his clutch punting. But being put in a position to win and executing is the difference between a good team and a bad team. Look at the late game scare vs ssk.
  2. that sucks i havent had it in a long while used to be awesome.
  3. Current problem in the cfl is due to the refs, and the awful changes to PI rules/enforcement. Not the ability to challenge PI. That and the time it takes for the refs to execute a challenge review.
  4. hes the medsiah. saviour of our season. I dont remember a kicker doing what hes done for a team in a single season. Hes scored more points then our offense by a good size amount. If we had just an average kicker we'd probably be a 4 win team.
  5. lol id take a flutie brain over any thing. I said he should, and buck could. I said countless times i didnt know if our organization would can any one mid season no matter what happens.
  6. He follows through in the same manner as all fast release qbs. The opposite of a follow through is stopping dead, if he did that even in his limited touches his arm would be toast. In the vikings game he was under crazy amounts of pressure, watch his college high lights. Or the high lights from other nfl pre season action. Despite pre conceived notions, a strong arm does not get and keep you a job in the nfl. They expect an arm strong enough to make all the throws, but tons of guys stick down there with mediocre arms. Passing accuracy is whats demanded above all else, and high amounts of experience. Which is what makes his time and multitude of teams down south so impressive. Matter of fact, pitchers delivery can be success and have been with a follow throw that nearly falls, drops off 3rd base side or first base. Tom brady uses very similar style mechanics. Different follow throughs and delivery points and arm angles can be effective.
  7. All qbs are taught to twist hips like that, that is how and where your power is generated in the throwing motion. Be it in baseball, or football. In fact colleges have a hip jam that you see in basically every school to get qbs to use their hips more. His mechanics are smooth and good. Its the reason why he's floated the nfl soo much. he uses very little upper body in his throws. If that was the case youd see a wind up motion, or a hitch in his delivery. Youd see a pause when his hand goes back before it goes forward. None of those things happen. His accuracy isnt mechanical, and may not be fix able. its hard to say how much of what he does can be improved with his age and number of coaches hes had. But with his lack of real reps you never know.
  8. Could be a guy who gets a look this year, could be one of the guys brought in now to get a head start for camp next year. Certainly will be interesting to follow.
  9. I would expect this all to be a real fire under the 3 depth qbs in practice then. Stirring things up down there I like it.
  10. I would imagine it will be one of the two going into camp next year yeah. Davis is kind of similar age and also limited in experience. Though not nearly as heavily as mcleod. Before signing mcleod none of our QBs were under contract for next year last i heard. I wouldnt be surprised to see a heavy turn over next season.
  11. erik williams most every thing reads about him following in his fathers foot steps. Same HS and college. His dad was a pro bowl DL who racked up 82.5 sacks in the nfl in the 80s/90s. Brandon williams sounds like a mos type of player. Played all over the front 7, including nose guard. blocked 5 kicks in his career, including 3 as a senior in back to back to back weeks. 92 tackles, 18 TFL 9.5 sacks and 5 blocked kicks. 4.69 40 37" leap 24 reps at 225. Impressive stuff. Maybe a work out bud for corney and butcher LOL.
  12. He had a little counter culture / cult following there and in general. Lots of fans of teams disappointing even angry he was let go. Very good arm for sure. Not talking michael bishop arm strength, Well in the tier under that. Which is certainly strong enough to throw any pass you could want short of like 80+ yards.
  13. Allegedly ran a 4.21 40 in college, 4.35 is the fastest reputable time ive seen. http://www.newsadvance.com/news/local/vul-standout-chases-nfl-dream/article_4ce1b274-a192-11e3-a354-0017a43b2370.html A great read about him. A guy who out of HS had 30+ scholarship offers, but wasnt academically eligible. Ended up with a 3.2GPA in college. 15 pass deflections as a SR. Played wr, rb, qb, and KR in hs. Big versatile, fast, looks like a hard nosed player too.
  14. Yeah it is. Kinda dieter kinda danny mac with that release. The down field attacking, and throwing at tight windows is certainly old school qbing.
  15. Not bad college numbers but not great, 41-829-2tds 2009, 22-417-10tds 2008. GMC isnt exactly USC, but at his age and size im kind of baffled he hasnt warranted an nfl stint on prs at least. Looks good running out of the slot and wr, hands looks good too. In that clip really uses his hands well. Makes it look easy. Im astounded. His age, speed, size and hands.
  16. no kidding. Its rare to find a guy who kicks around the nfl that long with soo little ncaa experience. The nfl in the modern era puts the greatest importance on 4 year starters. This guy has like half of 1 college experience. It tends to make me think hes one of those guys who looks incredible in practice. I started watching his clips and thought this has to be sped up. But no, he just has an incredible, incredible release. Quick, clean footwork too. Shows nice touch down field, arm isnt outstanding but never seems to lack velocity when he throws a bullet pass even when under pressure. Accuracy isnt his strength. Would be more exciting if he was younger or had a decent amount of play in college/pro. I can certainly see why soo many teams have given him a shot though.
  17. I think loffler is a threat to be the teams MOC. Especially if we see split touches with flanders or harris misses more time. Goossen as MOL? hes been the weak spot of the guys that currently start. He struggles still with switches and blitz pick up. Hasnt been especially good at opening up holes or scraping to the second level in the run game. Bond should get it, I wouldnt be surprised if it went to bryant. MOP Its a hard choice. Id probably go harris too, though we saw the same level of production out of flanders. I think BLM wins. MOC harris I think the leading rusher between harris and messam wins. MODP MO Mo is deserving but I think charleston hughes gets it. MOL bond Hard to say ive watched maybe half the cfl games the bombers havent played. bond is deserving. MOSTP medlock Banks and paredes will be a threat, but medlock should get it. MOR Fogg And fogg gets it. MOR fogg. I dont see us getting more then 2 awards. I think those will be fogg and medlock as rookie and teams.
  18. I like chape i hope he develops into a great hc, Id love to see the cis become a stronger grass roots development for cfl coaches.
  19. Theyve beaten bc for starters. And us. theyve won by 14,15,3,18,9,36,6,21,6,and 25. Most points scored, least allowed. Theyve scored 83 more points then us. Weve scored 91 more points then last place ssk. Calgary is a great team. We are good but dont know just how good we are yet. yeah those flags have been killing us.
  20. The hoggy hop. going full hog (get them some sponsorship from dennys whole hog). The happy hoggies.
  21. It feels like david vs goliath. 18 combined games won in a row, but calgary leads in points scores, and has the fewest points allowed. They protect the ball, force turn overs and protect the pocket very well. They run a diverse offense and look great in every facet. Weve had to fight for most of our wins, and shown amazing heart in the clutch. we havent played a full 4 quarters on either side of the ball. If we do I feel like our chances against calgary go way up. Theyve been on fire soo long itll be tough even for them to sustain. But for us as well. I feel like calgary is such a favorite over us a loss doesnt really cost us much momentum if we dont get blown out. Every team has a chance on game day, but do we stand more of a chance then that?
  22. and weve had an extended win streak under mos before. Heath sure, you can argue that. But i listed a ton of other times. Denmark, bond, hardrick, frederick, foketi, green etc. Yeah pretty much. I think the chances of us missing now are slim. And I think a cross over spot is more desirable then going through the west. But if we host a game, and rack up more wins im all in favor of it. Despite the win streak we still only pulled some 25k fans iirc against toronto. Its because we have a ton of play makers on that D. Our scheme is far from dynamic or "sexy". Even the more casual fans see us playing overly soft and passive as our base. That type of D may be as viable as the aggressive swaggerville style but it doesnt win any fan fare. Im in the camp wishing we'd be more agressive, on D and offense but the D has certainly been successful and our offense has gotten enough to win. Weve scraped scores in games we've dominated in terms of play. But the coaching staff does deserve a great deal of acclaim for sticking to their guns and making it work. We will have to see if its sustainable.
  23. id rather the riders finish 3rd from the bottom any how. Maybe then they keep jones going into next season and dont have the top pick in the draft again.
