  1. Good point. I actually like logan as an offensive weapon X type more than as a KR. Awesome job, I hate how the CFL does theirs too. I wish they would have one like this on the main page for the off season.
  2. all true. it would also be expensive and complicated to get the rights to advertise stuff like that from other leagues. It could also come off very poorly if not done well. and the league hasn’t done a great job at any thing marketing wise in ages.
  3. I've seen a bunch of players and coaches in the NFL say that the talent gap between the NFL and the CFL is not huge. We don't have the top-tier outliers, and don't keep them when we find them, but average imp starter to starter it is way closer than people realize. The consistency of players, coaches, and systems here is too much for the UFL to overcome. Even though we see a lot of turn over with in the league each year, its still a lot of guys staying in the league and with similar systems. The top tier in the UFL is very good. The problem is that below that, it drops off a massive cliff.
  4. Yep, and if they aren't going to play him, or develop him while on the bench, he can bail. That is the hidden story behind all the fledgling leagues—Guys living in cars, surviving on a tub of PB and a loaf of bread. When you pull that rug out from under them, they don't have any fail-safes to catch them. A lot of guys in indy ball living the same life. In the past, the minor leagues had them too. Though it's better now. At the end of the day, the NFL understands that they don't have much of a clue what separates booms from busts or how to develop talent reliably. So they bury it down and rely on the sheer number of kids flowing into the NCAA to supply them. Thats why you don't see scouts/GMs fired for awful bust picks. Some teams have some positions figured out, within the constraints of their system. But none of them have QB or OT figured out like that.
  5. All of that, coming up mid-way through last year, would've been great for him. Could've still looked at the NFL window this year for camp invites. The NFL wants to see guys like that produce in the pros, like Stiggers and Alford. They will kick the tires and use you in camp/ps, but breaking into the AR is very different. Even Rourke didn't do enough up here and in camp/ps down there to lock in a spot. And he really earned it. If Elgersma is really smart, he is using this as an opportunity to accelerate his growth and speed up his adjustment to higher levels of play.
  6. It's a hard call for him, to be fair. He's 23, about to turn 24, and easily 2 years away from playing here or in the UFL. By the time he has the base amount of film and experience to get back to the NFL window, he is turning 28, and at the end of his window. UFL pay will be close to what he would get here, and each will be about equal to a couple of weeks on an NFL PR. He's still getting workouts, and he played well enough in PS to be on an NFL PR. If I was him, I would play in the UFL this year, and try to make an NFL PR out of camp. I'm sure he would get a camp invite from someone. If an NFL PR offer doesn't come at that point, sign up here. With the coaching down south, and playing against that level of competition in 2 camps plus the UFL, he would likely be at the same level as a 2nd year imp qb out of camp. If not higher. Still plenty young enough to get good money and win a spot here. And still have a bit of long term NFL hope. I also think that is the best-case scenario for us. The seasoning he'd get in NFL camp and pre-season is far greater than he would get doing the same here. He grew up playing Canadian ball; the nuances are not so far removed for him. The worst case, for us, him and the NFL dream, is he doesn't get an NFL camp invite or ends up on a team that only lets him hold a clipboard, then sits and waits for an NFL pr offer that isn't coming and burns another year, while also not getting reps in the UFL. But even in that event, it isn't terrible for us if he comes up then. You sign him to a long-term deal and lock in cheap.
  7. sounds like they are moving on from grant
  8. And vaval will be back for this year. Hes one of the more interesting year 2 guys to see. It’ll be hard to continue his performance from the last 2/3s or so of last year. But if he can take a step forward at db and be more useful as a back up, and more consistent and secure in the kr game we will be in a great spot. There is a decent chunk of guys im excited to see in year 2. If a couple have that game slowing down process we could see some new star power on this team.
  9. Leg strength isn't an issue really. Consistency, mechanics, style/fit, those have been his question marks. He doesn't have one of those flip field positions when pinned deep in your own zone legs, as Ryan did. But it's more than fine. We aren't that type of team anyway. Early last year and prior to that, he was shanking atleast 1 a game, and pooching ones, leaving the returning running up for a free 15 yards atleast once a game as well. If he keeps that all in the past, he's solid and fits our system well. I'd love to replace him, and love to have a punter who can flip field position. But that isn't super high priority. James evans ended the season on the riders PR iirc, I'd love to have him back in camp again.
  10. Pretty sure he is toast. But we always like to make sure a guy is absolutely ruined before we give up. He 100% wont be the guy he was before injuries again. Will he ever be a useful player in the cfl again? dunno. We have basically 1 imp wr at this point. Which is crazy. We need more than 1 guy to add. We need 2 starting wrs and a back up. Plus another canadian for depth at least.
  11. he significantly cut down on the shanks after a couple weeks. I think we could do more with greater punt depth given the depth and talent we have on teams, but i’m not surprised by this move it’s pretty solid. I also hope we bring in tough camp competition like we should at all positions. Very happy sergio is back. It’s been an excellent beginning to the off season. Walter’s has finally done well with what is in our control. We have dished out some big pay days, but no reason we can’t make it work in free agency still. Of what’s left for our fas, I expect big stan to get his deal done, I’d like makonzo back, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we bring back one or more of the imp wrs. I think schoen is pretty toast but we could sit him for a year on the 6 game. I like sterns as a scrappy over achiever, wouldn’t mind him back on the cheap. Wheatfall id be happy to move on from but who knows he could be back. Wr, and Dl are going to be big holes needing filling from fa. Then ol would be huge to add 1 guy. Powell would be tremendous to get as well.
  12. I would love to see the TC 1 cis/ni qb allotment carried into the regular season. Free PR spot for 1 ni qb, maybe have it optional and eventually required. Then give an incentive for having one on the AR, maybe their salary doesn't count against the cap as a back up. Then if they start, you gain the di or maybe you can use a nat american even if they don't have the tenure. Could also bake Canadian QBs into the draft pick compensation for starting Canadians.
  13. He did. In camp he played about as much corner as S, maybe a bit more. Then he played both in pre season, and was forced into action at corner for one game before he started at S as well.
  14. Yep. Plus, lots of athletic Canadians to rotate all over.
  15. wallace played the best of our guards outside of vanterpool. It was his first full season and first time being a semi regular starter. The fire is pretty far from his feet. Eli, is the one who needs to step up most. After that, it’s bryant. We have a good few imps to push him, and we are going to see some very good imp tackles hit free agency. Wallace is more than fine if he continues his progress at the same rate. imo, upfront money is the way to get him and at a good over all price. https://3downnation.com/2026/01/18/b-c-lions-gm-ryan-rigmaiden-sounds-alarm-about-nils-effect-on-future-of-cfl-qbs/ The only thing i’d add to rigmaidens comments is, it’s not coming. it’s already been here. And it’s nil+ nfls expansion of pr and pr compensation. We already don’t see the guys who have any real success at good schools. We’ve lost first and second pick over of the former pipeline schools like bigsky, basically once a qb is 4/5star in hs, we’ve lost out on an opportunity with them unless they fully crash out of the nfl or blow all that money. Even then, the usfl is more attractive to those guys despite the less money. the days of 80-90k qbs with some upside is over. I think a second salary increase should partly be used to split the cap with qbs. The floor needs to be 150-200k for us to attract the talent the league desperately needs. Teams should have a floor 1million on ar qbs. It’s an investment in the league and game it self. 500k for the starter, 250-300k for qb3 and 200-250k for qb3. If your top tier qbs are earning 750k-1million each, instead of 500-700k you have a much better ability to attract young qb with upside talent and success. Yeah. Allen to corner, kramdi to s and griffin to sam would be awesome. pretty much just sergio to re up now
  16. He was better last year than the previous year when he was banged up. With out Kola to drag the line down, I expect to see the healthy guys who play have a serious jump in their performance.
  17. Was pretty much a formality imo
  18. If he was a direct cover db, I would agree more. He's also played a ton of D snaps off the bench down south. But at S, I don't think he needs more experience from down south. He's got the football IQ and instincts for S, tremendous size and athleticism. His success at S would be based on his adjustment to the cfl game. He's certainly not TCF. He's actually played something like 1000, snaps at S in the Big 10. That's worth many times more snaps at low levels. That is likely why we signed him for 2 years. He might be a developmental guy at worst in our view. Outside of Corner (unless we kick Allen out to Corner, as Booch said), this secondary will be extremely hard to make. I do love the idea of kicking Allen out to corner early and seeing how he does. Then if Kramdi goes back to S, Start Griffin at Sam. Holm, Nichols, and Woodbey should also be locked in (if healthy out of camp) to similar roles as last year. I'd be fine with having Houston and or Bonds back in camp to try and reclaim the other corner spot. I wouldn't have them leading the pack but if they step up either could lock down that spot. If Vaval is back as KR, it becomes harder to use a 2nd DI at DB. With Woodbey already to play wil, we don't need one nearly as much either. Makonzo, Shay, and Smith also greatly reduce any need to carry another DB. With all of that, we would have 1 corner spot open, before cfl free agency even begins. With possibly one or both of Bonds/Houston to compete at that spot. While Mcghee also came to us last year and has league experience, plus Williams and Texada returning who spent time on the pr last year. PLUS all the other rookies. And Lawson, who was brutal here last year but has also played in the league previously. A guy like that can always turn things around. Short of an injury bug, this is the hardest secondary to make that we've gone into camp with in a very long time. But, bringing in impressive size, versatility, and a strong skill set is as good as it gets.
  19. no doubt. it’s not that which worries me. it worries me that cfl teams can’t spend responsibly or do financial planning worth a damn. I’m all for these guys getting great pay.
  20. Trying to have it done before free agency this year. I don’t want to know what free agents will get if the cap goes up more
  21. He’d be a very good fit at either, also at wil/nickel. Hes a down hill type more than a side to side guy. The sam needs to be a good bit of both, especially in our system. His so so agility would be the big obstacle, plus the nuance of the position. He certainly has that upside and versatility that we should challenge him in camp with many positions and see where he settles. Those big fringy guys who can cover are extremely valuable in Ds. For me, i’d build a D around as many of those outlier match up nightmares as possible.
  22. Addison isn't just big (tall), he plays big. Converted to S during the COVID-shortened season after starting out as a WR (2 years). In the 3 years post-position change, he was very productive. The good: Size (6'5 195), Athleticism 4.55 40 10'7"broad, 36" vert, great explosive numbers, good speed, and average agility numbers. Successful position change. Versatility, he played a lot of teams, backed up, but played a lot of reps. Played very well against the run and the pass. Physical, with a great nose for the ball, made a lot of plays. The bad, a bit slight build for his height, 6-year covid super senior, despite playing well and for big schools, didn't get much NFL interest. The Ugly is, only a 1-year starter despite being in college for 6 years. Overall, really good pick up for camp. Very high upside, the type of guy who could fit extremely well into JYs system, and has an inside track to playing his way onto the team with his team's skill set. He's a crafty, extremely physical football player who has that lunchbox ethic and dog mentality that Mos loves. Which, in a very big-bodied athletic DB, is a great combo. He's going to be in a very tough position to make the roster, with Kramdi/Allen/Woodbey, hopefully Griffin, and likely Vaval as a Di. But he's got the talent where he could come in and take a job, or capitalize on any opportunity that pops up. https://www.nfldraftscout.com/cfb/bio/1021804 https://uclabruins.com/sports/football/roster/bryan-addison/14419
  23. No team with out a fan base is worthy of such vitriol.
  24. i’d be good with giving him a nice upfront bonus then a lower base salary. if any thing, he should be leery of back end deals and off season bonuses yeah i like him as a depth canadian. a lot better than corcantrun. we need ni talent at wr, free back up kr is good too
  25. pickett is a good get for toronto, it makes a lot of sense for him as well
