Are there beneficial salary cap implications to Lawler's suspension?
-
Wow. Some defensive end make a pretty amazing play tracking down Locksley there. Commentators couldn't be bothered to stop talking about Aussie rules football to mention the play or who did it.

is this in response to something or just your random musings for the day??
this is actually perfectly said... can't believe I'm saying that about a @17to85 post... I kid, I kid 😁
It's the reality. Many people look down on indicisive men. I believe someone had talked about whether it would have made Riley look bad if he had changed his mind about leaving Winnipeg. I was responding to that.

Men here are same as anywhere else. I've lived all over.

For men, I think that there definitely is an expectation to make a decision and stick to it. Men look weak when they flip flop on decisions. It creates distress for others because they never know what to trust.

Wonder if Sergio will be staying this time? Only signed a one year deal.

Kyrie back on the 6 game right away is concerning. Hansen too. Hope fully they will be ready early to mid camp.
Adding yet another punter is an odd one.Could just be what is required to keep a couple more bodies in camp right now. I believe they can take guys off the 6 game as many times as they want.

But he caught the ball!
Is what we were told.
I never saw him play so I don’t have much to go by.
Back in those days we were so pathetic at times that a kick returner who could properly field the ball and not fumble was seen as a major upgrade.
Do we have a running tally on the rookie kickers and what their percentage of field goals made in rookie camp was?

Maybe MOS wants to groom his son to be a coach, so this way he gets to see the inside of a CFL training camp from a players' perspective. I'm all for keeping the OShea bloodline in the Bombers organization if it means years ahead of tough competitive teams who play for each other and want to run through walls for their coach and their team.
Yeah I actually thought of that myself. If he ends of being a coach having experienced a training camp as a pro would likely have some benefit for him.

Speaking of the Okanagan Sun:
Reigning national champion Okanagan Sun open 2023 season away from home - BCFC - Castanet.net
Is this not the same team we drafted Simonise from?

If he doesn't have a legit shot at being on the roster...I dislike the signing even more.
I believe he doesn't cost us a training camp roster spot.

Not surprised we are signing alot of prospects on the eve of training camp. The CFL is now kind of the final opportunity for some players to play this season who were holding out for an NFL contract. If they don't sign now and an NFL deal doesn't come through they'll be sitting out until January at the earliest without money coming in. I would expect there to be a trend that many cfl recruits sign closer to the start of camp then before the xfl usfl.

Are you still in Steinbach? Curious what the general vibe is down there. Seems like that town is getting a lot more progressive on account of being a bedroom community for Winnipeg and less about deep-faith locals, as it used to be...
I'm still here. Steinbach is alot more diverse than it used to be. Lots of immigration to this area. Filipino is the fastest growing population here. So there's that and also many current generation mennonites are becoming progressive. For example the movie based on Miriam Toews book "Women Talking" sold out the theatre here which surprised Miriam who's left Steinbach a long time ago.

I would think they would cut some of the American kickers they signed. Especially the punter. I just don't see them carrying two Americans on the roster to handle kicking duties. The way I view it Castillo is the place kicker and there's a battle between Leggs and the globals for the punting job. Leggs would be hard to beat out because he provides placekicking depth as well. But perhaps with the unexpected money being spent on Castillo they would look at an Global punter as a cost cutting measure because you don't have to pay globals the league minimum if my memory serves me correct.

Yes please go after him.

Do you guys think anyone will give O'Shea's boy a camp invite? It costs them nothing. I could see Hamilton or Toronto doing it as good PR more than anything. I think Winnipeg doesn't want to because it would be an unnecessary distraction for the coach and the locker room. The last thing they need is something that could disrupt the trust and respect in the locker room.

I guess it stands to reason that next year's draft is going to be pretty stacked. All the players who deferred and all the freshly eligible? Riders gonna benefit from that when they have the first overall pick.
-
It kind of sucks to have to be using our top picks just to replace guys we lost to the nfl. But it is what it is.
-
We've drafted a 35 year old punter today and 26 year old densive end. They'll be joining a rookie class featuring a 19 year old receiver.
-
It must have been just having a need for defensive end depth. Our ends aren't getting any younger so you might need to give them more breaks ect. We suffered big time in the Grey Cup after Jeffcoat got injured and we had to move Sayles to defensive end. Not the pick I would have made but oddly they seem to have gone with a specific need instead of best man available .

After losing Ford after one year it's refreshing that this guy is already 26 years old.

Probably not a huge savings considering he took less for this season. But makes me wonder if it might inch them a little closer to being able to afford Lemon.
