Joel Armia ... didn't do enough to keep up with the big team...played good D, would have like to have seen him play with some more offensively talented players. He'll get 1st or 2nd line ice ti me with the Moose.
Eric Comrie ... nobody expected him to make the team. I think he showed well and I would have graded him high in game time.
Chase De Leo ... big surprise for me he was sent down this early. I thought he played well every chance he got.
Scott Kosmachuk ... didn't have a good young stars tourney and didn't do much in preseason.
Jan Kostalek ... I think he played pretty good and has a good chance to make the big team in a few years.
Josh Morrissey ... To me, the biggest dissapointment of camp as I thought he had a really good chance of sticking before the young stars tourney.
Ryan Olsen ... This guy opened my eyes. I can see him on the 4th line within a year. Smart player.
Lemieux ... I didn't expect him to make the big team but he played pretty good. Needs to improve on his skating. Too bad the Moose isn't an option.
 
I think 2 or 3 of these players would make some teams in the league and just because they aren't starting with the Moose doesn't mean they won't be called up this season.
I'm thinking the reason some of these players won't get a 9 game look is because the Jets need every single point they can get to make the playoffs. It would be nice not to meet the Ducks in the 1st round again.

It's down to petan Raffl and Lipon for a 4th line winger spot. My guess it's petan who gets it.
13th foward will be peluso.
On D buff Toby Trouba Myers Chiarot and stu are locks. 2 of Postma Pardy and Harrison will be kept.

I'd argue that Ladd, on ice, can be replaced easier than Buff.

If both want more than 5 or 6 years for big money, they can move on.
 
Ladd is ok,  but he's not one of the best players in the league, sure he might pop 30 and get 30 assists, he's a 60 point player now but what about in 2 or 3 years from now when guys like Petan,Ehlers,Armia,Connor etc are around... 
 
The worst thing we could do is sign ladd and buff to long term big money deals... That's the worst thing, cuz whether people want to admit or not, when this team is actually competitive on a regular basis and not a bubble team like we were last year or probably be this year, Ladd and Buff won't be around and if they are.. ladd will be on the third line and buff will be on the third D pair... 
 
Lets say ladd wants 6 years and 36 million, it's probably more tho... that's great now but in 3 or 4 years, is it worth it to pay a 3rd liner 6 million a year?
 
Nope. The cap isn't going to go up anytime soon, the loonie is falling. It's not worth it. 
 
You build around the Scheifs,Troubas,Lowrys,Myers,Morrisseys,Ehlers and Petans... Not around the Ladd and Buffs. 
 
Would really suck if we lost a young player because we over paid ladd and buff just because... 

Lawless is the most connected journalist.....people trust him with info for a reason. Can't say I agreed with a lot of what he wrote but good on him. TSN sees a market with a team about to make noise.

If Postma played how Maurice wanted him to, he might see more time. He is a puck moving RHD behind 3 RHD that are waaaaaaaay better than him.

Chris Thorburn and Paul Postma have also been traded to Carolina for a 6th round pick in 2018

With the Jets? I think Ladd will but Little is another question. It looks like Maurice is trying Lowry between them and he will be the center facing the other team's top center. Ladd and Little are great wingers to help him learn the D game even more. Can he keep up with their O game though.

Guaranteed a couple if not 3 rookies make the team.

I understand the financial implications but I'd still like us to re-sign Byfuglien.  He is such a unique talent.  Often he alone is worth the price of admission.  Inconsistent?  Bah.  Every player is inconsistent to some degree.  Blake Wheeler regularly goes 15 games between scoring goals but you don't hear anyone whining ad nauseam about that.  Maybe it's because Byfuglien looks different...

The first Jets jersey I got had Slater's name and number on it. Loved his all-around game (and he seemed to be a genuinely great guy on top of that), so I'm sorry to see him go. Bet he wishes he'd taken that contract offer in hindsight.
Secretly, I was hoping the club would offer him a small two-way deal and tell him they wanted him to play with the Moose in a Mike Keane veteran role, teaching the young'uns about being a pro and coming to practice with a good work ethic every day while still getting to play the game and remain in Winnipeg. Hold the carrot that if there was injury issues, he might be a fill-in call up for 4th line centre duty, but the goal was for him to finish off in the AHL and then have a scouting or coaching spot in the organization when he chose to retire. Would be good for him, and the club could show that they take care of their veterans and might draw other players to Winnipeg that way.

Tlusty was useless.. No big loss even at that price tag.
