It's easy to draft the players ranked 1st overall. It's another thing to draft players in 2nd rounds and later. Oilers have yet to do that really. I wonder how good the oilers would be if instead of drafting first overall 4 times... they drafted 7th or 8th.
Scheifele Trouba Ehlers... 7 to 9 range.
Lowry was a third round pick. Copp a 5th maybe. Petan a second. Connor at 17. Steal. Kids gonna be very good... just wait.

Why would we trade roslovic tho. We just drafted him. Buff to Jackets for 1st and Rychel is a starting point. No to Jack Johnson. If they want Roslovic they are adding ryan Murray. No need to trade a guy we just drafted. Lol at thinking we'd be the one adding to get Johnson.

Not enough

It almost seems like... if one team gets 6 or 7 powerplays, regardless of what happens on the ice, the refs will try their hardest to give the other team 6 or 7 powerplays also.. That's not how it's supposed to be tho.. Lots of missed calls this game, both ways but the 3rd was definitely the refs favoring st louis.. I mean, perfect example is the Buff Hit, clean, puck there, very clean... afterwards the St Louis D man punches buff a couple times, buff sends him flying, upshall comes in and gets decked also... all 3 should have got penalties on that play... but it was a good example of the refs favoring st louis. Personally, i don't think Buffs hit was a penalty but since it was called one, upshall should have got roughing and an instigator and the D man buff destroyed should have got a roughing call also. 
 
it was 2 on 1 for christs sake and buff is the one that gets the extra penalty? Bullcrap. 
 
Wonder if playing Peluso for 5 minutes was worth sitting Petan who plays on the 2nd powerplay with Scheif and Ehlers... lots of PP chances, all 6 goals scored in the game came on the PP actually, but... gotta think that maybe just maybe Petan playing on the 2nd pp instead of Burmi, and nothing against Burmi here at all but.. perhaps it makes a difference. 
 
Peluso did nothing all game. 

Refs were awful, how is that a penalty to Buff, ridiculous really, clean hit, puck in the guys feet, just nailed him clean. Jets have an image problem it seems, they are big fast and play physical, just like Boston was, but unlike Boston, the Jets don't get away with their clean hits. Ridiculous. Blues owned them tho the last 2 periods, 1 2 4 5 shots in the third isn't gonna cut it really. Too bad, good game ruined by piss poor bush league reffing.

Exactly...who would our starting LHD be? I am a big supporter of Chiarot and before the season started I was very impressed with Chiarot but since it started, his game has been sub-par at best.

Toby is our only good LHD man.

This young Jet team plays a nice structured game from Maurice, who is allowing them to play fast and take some chances.
Very exciting.
One has to be impressed with the like of Ehlers, who is fast and good on the puck and he will only get better. Burmistrov still displays the skills he has shown before, but now he's all over the ice…in a good way. Smart defensively. 
Scheifele looks solid and plays smart and fast.
And the rest of the usual suspects.

First game of the season McDavid does nothing and TSN has an in depth analysis of his play. Sick of him already which is fine because sick of the oilers. They will be a powerhouse one day. But then they can figure out how to keep all their talent.

Goossen looked no worse than Picard every time he has gone in all season. Shoulda happened in July.

Too much money spent on the O side of things and basically ignored the D, which is the real problem.

I'm surprised Petan is heavier than Ehlers.
I also agree with not only taking Buff out but the lightest as well.
I am guessing that most if not all teams have a few outliers.
 
Don't want to beat a dead horse but what difference does it make when the guy played. Rocket Richard's heyday was the fifties. Does that make him any less a player? Beliveau? Morenz? Howe? Lafleur? etc...
As someone said earlier, Hawerchuk took the all time worst losing team (9 wins) on his back and carried them out of the basement and into the playoffs his first year in the league. He was and continues to be a class act. I can't even ever remember any bad press about him.
 
By the way, nobody should compare Gretzky to Crosby, no comparison.
