To my eye Banks was bobbling the ball before the hit. But they all count the same.  And credit Rose for the follow through which did not allow him to re-gain control. The lateral was the real beauty part of that play.

Bihill's tip was unreal. The entire play was masterful and kinda makes up for the Houston play

No excuses in the 3rd quarter.   He had time to throw and had 4 guys who could catch on the field.   Demski isn't a big loss IMO.

I saw a guy who couldn't throw to anyone after his first read and over thinking....

Honestly the hate on guys have for Nichols is getting old.

He is not a flashy qb but with a good d and when he is running a steady ball control offence that doesn’t turn the ball over it makes for a winning combo.

the only qb’s that are better are Riley and Mitchell with Masoli possibly ahead of Nichols but he has yet to win anything.

He proved his worth in the 4th with the drive that led to a big field goal and by not turning the ball over.

ill conceed Montreal is not a good team but they have some solid players on D.

What an uninspiring game by an offense that had something to prove. Bleh.

I'll be shocked if we win more than one game the rest of the way.

I thought the offence played well once they figured out to do without Harris and Demski.

nicholls came up with a game changing drive fir a field goal to give the blue a 10 point lead and capped it off with the big play to Tompkins.

i thought he was back to his old form in the 4th and kudos to them for overcoming some big injuries.

definitely should have been called a headshot. How many times have we seen incidental headshots called this year? And THAT one doesn't qualify? Don't know who I'm more pissed at. The refs for their inconsistency or Lefevour for having such a shitty arm that he's getting guys killed out there.

This is on oshea what the crap is Lefevour doing out there when he can't throw the ball

Suicide pass to Harris possibly cost us the season

  5. This team makes things interesting but certainly knows how to win games. Big play on offence after the Esks score and then the D shuts the door !

I was as I'm sure all were about this d without Westermxn but they came to play tonight and the db's really locked it down when it counted.

Yup, I am not surprised by this.  All I can do is just shake my head at the buffoons running things in Montreal.

Kinda seems odd though that Chapdelaine woulda wanted him promoted to GM, unless the idea there was to try and get him off the field sidelines.  If that rumor is indeed true.

I hate, as a fan of the league, to see things go sideways in Montreal as it is likely bad for the league and hope they can get on track as long as it is not against the Blue

The defense giving up big plays remains a concern, no doubt. As for suffering from PTMD (great term, BTW), are you referring to the team itself or yourself?

I think the team is over the PTMD but as a fan I am still suffering from watching that team and keep wondering when this team will go into freefall mode. However, with leaders like Nichols, Harriss and Leggat this team is probably insulated from a major freefall but this is not a dominating team like Calgary because of the  defence but at least they are competitive and can win on any given Thursday through Sunday!

  8. I was soundly beaten to a pulp by some posters for my Smoke 'n' Mirrors post.  Nonetheless, I said that I'd post win or lose. So here I am after re-watching the game with a few comments...

    -Nichols is cool under pressure and almost always makes the right decision with the ball;

-home field advantage is a great thing and the Blue seem to have finally  embraced it . The O-Line Leap is a site to behold and adds warms the cockles of my heart

    - Andrew Harris is to the Blue what Marshawn Lynch was to the Hawks minus the  'it is all about me attitude' and the fact Wally B. let him get away is almost as confounding and confusing as the beating I took last week for my posting

-Mr. Mo 'looks better and better in Blue every game' Leggat is an amazing football player and when he is on the Bombers defence is good but not great and he adds an intangible  to special teams that few teams in the league have.

In summation, it was a nice win with a few peaks and valleys. Glenn still had his way with the defence despite his glaring errors but it was nice to see the d locked down the game after Brandon 'Slaw Rebchuk' Bridge burned them for that td. I think this team showed great character and aplomb with this win. My concerns are alleviated for the moment but I still see some major flaws that even this win cannot hid including the need to for a MLB (wouldn't it be nice to have Muamba) and  to learn the basics about tackling.

I am still not sold on this team because the defence is not great and probably still suffering from Post Traumatic Mack Disorder.

Bombers have given up 40 big plays.  The next closest is Hamilton at 30.  The high powered O we see is fantastic and all, but the D is just horrendous.  Meanwhile, we have had 23 big plays, only Toronto and Hamilton have less (which is actually surprising and shows that this is a methodical O).  To break it downs some.....

    Big plays surrendered per game:

    WPG - 4.000
    HAM - 3.333
    BC - 3.300
    SSK - 2.889
    OTT - 2.364
    CGY - 2.300
    EDM - 2.200
    TOR - 2.182
    MTL - 1.700

    Big runs surrendered per game:

    WPG - 0.900
    EDM - 0.700
    HAM - 0.667
    BC - 0.400
    CGY - 0.400
    MTL - 0.400
    SSK - 0.333
    TOR - 0.273
    OTT - 0.182

    Big passes surrendered per game:

    HAM - 2.111
    SSK - 2.111
    BC - 2.100
    WPG - 2.000
    OTT - 1.818
    EDM - 1.400
    TOR - 1.364
    CGY - 1.300
    MTL - 1.200

Note that I am not going to do a breakdown of the special teams rate per game because it is just embarrassing and shocking how bad it stacks up to the rest of the league (we need a new ST coordinator perhaps even worse than a new DC)

The Hall bend but don't break, but actually break D is frustrating to no end.    When the turnovers were rolling in it masked it a bit, but right now those are not coming.

This is why I created this post as with those stats it truly is a case of smoke and mirrors. Thanks for doing the leg work. The Bomber brass could use yo uas their stats guy!

Also, you're out to lunch on that whole Nichols interception that was thrown because Ed Gainey is just simply a taller guy than Denmark, and Denmark has made many diving catches in his career so you know little about that.  And by the way thank god we don't have one star WR, we don't need a guy who must have his catches game in and game out.

I said pa-pa-pardon me? You proved my point. I know the type of catches Denmark can/has made on slants, over the middle, crossing patters but not deep jump balls. It was a poor throw to the wrong player being covered by a guy who is an INT machine right now.  Keep trying to discredit me if it makes you feel better but the guys on the post game show were saying the same thin gas me. I guess they are wrong too. Moreover, Lapo was also unimpressed with the offence last game but what does he know??
