Another thing the EE punt coverage did not look good. The Bombers could make some serious yards on them maybe not a TD every time but there were a lot of holes. Bombers coverage is much more even.

I know luck is not really involved but darn it (my mike is on) Reilly is lucky. I know he has big receivers who track the ball but man Reilly throws floaters up there and most of the time the ball is caught or really close to it. Last night was the exception. Sitting there it looks like the bombers could get him. His line is big but you can get around them. Just got to be fast.

More education coming. The history of the CFL is long, even longer than NFL truth be told however the name CFL is relatively new. The Roughrider (no space) name has nothing to do with Teddy R but is in fact based on settlers riding oxcarts with no suspension so getting an uncomfortable ride. There used to be a CFL team in Ottawa called the Ottawa Rough Riders (with space) and that name had nothing to do with Teddy R either. Ottawa is Canada's capital city but was founded as a logging town. The rough riders were the guys who would ride the log rafts down the river to bring the logs to the saw mills before there were roads. This was also a journey that could get quite uncomfortable. Having 2 teams in a 9 team league with names so close together seemed really odd but since the East and West used to be separate entities it makes more sense. The current Ottawa CFL team is not financially related to the previous CFL team but its name also refers to the common red black plaid of the logging industry roots of the city. Tonight's opponent's name is a bit odd too if you think about Tiger and cat being a bit redundant but not so much if you know two teams merged one named Tigers and the other named Wildcats. Most CFL teams have roots to the 1870's and if you are interested wikipedia has some good reads.

I am not sure there is much difference as the players shift around. I think I have seen a halfback blitz combined with a D lineman drop back to cover the running back downfield. Football is way more complex now than when I was a lad.

At 30 years of age I don't know that I would categorise him as a rookie.

This this this. The sky is not falling friends. CFL is having a bit of a rough patch in all cities. Look at Calgary, it is the best team by far for years and yet empty seats. All live sports are having dips in attendance. In the end live sports is one of the things that will keep cable companies alive so there will be a will to succeed beyond just the leagues themselves. South Winnipeg is growing. Big housing growth on both sides of the river. Sure there are a lot of immigrants but the second generation will be more open to "Canadian" experiences. The experience will continue to get better too. That golf course is not going to be groomed grass forever. There will be lots of housing and businesses including bars and restaurants close by. The rapid transit system south will be finished soon and the east west rapid transit will make the "horrible travel" easier still. A Grey Cup or two will shore up the "losing" mentality. I think it was a move to show some fans that he is "connected" in the business and can call of Hall of Fame players just to hold off the inevitable wave of discontent. I doubt TO will suit up. After all how many coaches/ general managers get to quit on their terms. By being greedy and taking so many jobs Jones has made just by probability theory a high chance of not succeeding at one of his many jobs.

I don't think you are a bad person but there is always time to learn and grow. My daughter is studying psychology and as a side effect I am learning to be a lot less judgemental and recognise behaviour in our family that I thought was just being stupid with physical based emotional problems. That being said I have also learned to better recognise behaviour consistent with sadistic narcissism. I don't know Johnny football and can't judge him but I can hope for the best so that he doesn't hurt more people in the future.

If I am not mistaken the NFL did not sell well either when a bunch of games were played there. Hockey will sell for a long time and the TFC will get support from people who come from lands where football means a game where everyone kicks a round ball. The only hope is that MLSE will have the patience to build the CFL market like how basketball was built into such a popular thing in Toronto. By the way I believe TFC has a larger payroll than most MLS with international players that were once quite good.

The best part of this game was always saying "What is Jones thinking?" and being spot on the whole time.

I agree. I watched him too as I had some sad feelings when he left the Bombers. He did not look like the same player he was here.

The craziest thing to me is the lack of DB depth in Sask. Isn't that the one position you can audition guys with little practice time on man coverage. If you can stick to your man you don't have to have the whole defensive playbook in your pocket. To keep playing Carter to wreck both sides of the ball is mind blowing. Someone mentioned Mike Kelly and his QB under centre fascination. Jones' stubbornness totally reminds me of Kelly that way.

Big shoulder pads were a thing some time ago.
