Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread

Nobody knows more about elite athleticism than 35 to 70 year old men online who don’t play pro. I also don’t get the hate as he’s a versatile smart starting Canadian. Starting Canadians prob should get paid. I mean it is the Canadian football league. The whining about cap allocation is also hilarious as nobody really has a clue there. There is no cfl salary cap site that updates every 2 hours. I mean. Who cares. It’s really not our concern. -

Does he though? Not trying to be sarcastic, but what's the last play you remember him making? Im not sure those stats are on the side of your argument. It has been difficult watching more wins than losses. -

Thing is when you’re good you don’t get high draft picks. Highest pick was Laine but originally we were supposed to be drafting 7th or so, believe scheif was taken 9th so none of our actually 1sts were less than 7th overall. When you are good those 1sts become later picks and most those guys actually don’t make a difference. If we get a legit top 3 or 5 pick this year that’s our 1st legit top 5 pick since returning. We won Laine. Who is 22 23 on the moose? Expecting 3rd round and later dudes to be top 6 talent is a wild take. Guys with potential on the moose currently are Salo Yager Chibrikov and that’s about it currently but Freij and Sasha are 2 strong D prospects and He and Walton are 2 very good forward prospects. Lambert is a bust. Ford is a 4th liner in the nhl. Reality is when you have a chance and your pick is gonna be between 22 and 32 most years, you trade it. None of the picks we traded have turned into game changers. Management isn’t on the ice. Honestly injuries and just players who appear washed up but what do you do. Do you trade Nyquist Pearson Schenn and miller and the sorts? For what? A bag of pucks cuz none are bringing back a 1st 2nd or 3rd. Bring up the young guys after the trade deadline then go on a roll and **** our chances at a high pick. McKenna Ivar S and the NoDak D are game changers. here’s the problem. We got scheif Connor and Vilardi plus Perfetti when healthy (he’s not) And emerging talent like Morgan Barron but then we got a whole bunch of 4th line guys including the captain Nino Iafallo (that would be the perfect 4th line actually ) Toews Pearson Nyquist and name it really. That’s the problem. We don’t have top 6 talent. We have plenty of 4th line talent. -

I think some guys are going to get paid no matter what so we had to sign them. What do you think would have happened had Brady gone to free agency & Buck signed him? That Lions offense would be scary good for a long time. The best QB in the league, the best receiver & then Brady the best RB??? Wow. They'd win a few Grey Cups. with that lineup So, I expect we'd overpay to keep Brady. However, I don't want us re-signing all our guys & then Walters sleep thru free agency. If Walters pulls that same **** again, fans will be livid. Then the Canadian mafia should be swept out with a huge broom. Wouldn't it be nice if someone from the media asked Walters if he's going to be aggressive in free agency. -

Wait till you read what Calgary is paying Diedrich Mills, Now, the highest paid "American" running back in the CFL. https://3downnation.com/2026/01/04/calgary-stampeders-make-dedrick-mills-highest-paid-american-rb-in-cfl/ -
Nice goal by our prospect Freij against Finland. Too bad it was on his own net! He should fit right in lol...

I could get every player under contract easily by overpaying as well. There...perspective. Noeller, he is overpaying our guys to return. It is something of great concern. -

Hating the contract is not hating the player. I really liked Kramdi, as do others here not liking the $. Same for BO. Love having the guy hate the contract -

Walters is not any kind of "problem" on this team. He's not perfect, and nobody is, but I get such a chuckle when I read some takes about him being useless. -

likely until free agency, he is below only ford for next year at db. It’s very possible he gets bumped down a few times. At top 5, that’s bad value. 5-10, maybe debatable. He’s not late stages jake thomas by any means. He’s a solid db who indeed has improved. Especially in his reliability in coverage. 180k for him is nuts. That’s my real concern. We’ve been locking up the right guys, but spending crazy money to do so. Looks like that same approach from the last two years all over again. Sure hope it’s not. being invisible as a db to people following the ball, is generally a good thing. The most visible dbs are blowing cover or tackles. nailed it. only if kola is gone. If that happens, we will be very fortunate. That would be the only replacement to bring a major player in fa imo. -

SMS allocation has been an anchor to our club. It directly correlates to our win/loss record. BO/ZC overpay (among others) contracts line right up with our decline in depth as one would expect. It's really odd because our mantra USED TO BE that we would have the best quality depth in the league and practice next man up...then KW quit looking at his calculator and not only was quality depth lost, we even settled for poor quality at several starting positions. -

For all the complaints about Walters (and for the record I don't love how much he paid some guys), he's managed to sign 4 likely starting Canadians (Demski, Kramdi, Lawson, Oliveria), at worst a depth Olineman (Eli) and an excellent half back (Nichols). That's pretty good for January 4th. Look to our West where O'Day has yet to sign his starting rb (Ouellette), most of his receivers Johnson, Meyers, Robustelli, Nield, KSB, most of his offensive line, most of his defensive line, his back up QB (Maier), a stud Canadian linebacker (AJ Allen) and two key pieces of his sceondary (Campbell and Reavis). I'm just saying some perspective is needed. -

Kramdi is a really good player lol he’s a very smart football player and is always in good position. The one downside is he’s just average athletically but he can hold his own in coverage and the run based on his football IQ alone. Obviously they pay him like he’s an elite player but hes more of a jack of all trades, master of none in my opinion. But by all reports he’s become the leader of the defense and he’s another quality Canadian player so I understand to an extent, if you’re going to pay a player the dollars they’re giving out at a guy in his position you really need to have an elite attribute in my opinion. -
Yes but we don’t use that word, it’s reserved for the Riders and others as appropriate. For us we use terms like ‘needs improvement’ and such.

Unfortunately, so do the 2025-26 Jets.

The Toronto Argonauts never got a bye. The WIFU & IRFU had to play a challenge game against the ORFU teams in Ontario in the playoffs. I don't believe they challenged every year especially toward the end in the 1950's but the ORFU did win twice when Sarnia made it ito the Grey Cup in 1934 & 36 by defeating the Regina Roughriders & Toronto Argonauts. By the mid 1950's, the WIFU said they no longer wanted to play ORFU teams in the playoffs as they became non competitive with the WIFU teams. Playoff scores were very one sided for the Western teams. The ORFU protested that decision with the CRFU siding with the senior men's league from Ontario. In response, this caused a rift with both the WIFU & IRFU. They withdrew from the Canadian Rugby Football Union in 1957 creating the Canadian Football Council in 1957 & then merged to form the CFL in 1958. The ORFU was no longer allowed to compete with CFL teams for the Grey Cup as it belonged strictly to the CFL. By 1960, the ORFU became a junior league in Ontario but finally ceased operations in 1974. WIFU: Western Interprovincial Football Union: BC Lions, Edmonton Eskimos, Calgary Stampeders, Saskatchewan Roughriders & Winnipeg Blue Bombers IRFU: Interprovincial Rugby Football Union: Toronto Argonauts, Hamilton Tiger cats & Montreal Alouettes ORFU: Ontario Rugby Footall Union: Toronto Balmy Beach, Sarnia Imperials, London Lords, Toronto Indians, Windsor Rockets, Brantford Redskins, Kitchener-Waterloo Dutchmen, Hamilton Wildcats, Ottawa Trojans & Bramalea Satellites. Looking at the ORFU, it's too bad the CFL never took in 3 teams to make it a 12 team league. The Imperials, Dutchmen & Rockets. Most of the he ORFU played in very, very small stadiums under 3000 seats that were mostly bleacher seats. I guess building stadiums in the 50's would have had the same resistance by taxpayer that we see now. -

Kramdi is real nice depth... now the argument starts about how much is that depth worth and is it worth him taking as many reps as he gets... Also, in case there was ever any doubt with Thomas retiring who was going to be #1 on the Booch **** list..... Kramdi ladies and gentlemen.
