New TV Contract
I think DAZN is just happy to have yet another offering as part of their subscription service. They already have the NFL package, they may hope to draw some eyeballs from people just flipping through options on some nights. I think that's the CFL perspective as well.

2026 CFL Around The League (Not Bombers Specific)
If that number is anywhere near true, then all of a sudden Kenny Lawler's contract looks very good. I just can't see it though. That would more than double the existing TV deal. If so, the new commish deserves a ton of kudos for it. I agree that the QB number is doable if they keep Brown, which they likely do. A wild card is that they have 2 other QBs that have looked very impressive so far and they can likely only keep one of them unless they move Brown. A good QB prospect is going to shake loose out of Ottawa, maybe even 2 of them. Walters are you listening?

Basically their salaries are set with $521K in hard money for the 2 of them, plus about $60K of playtime incentives each. I doubt either one is getting cut so salarywise doesn't matter who plays. https://3downnation.com/2026/05/04/highest-paid-quarterbacks-for-2026-canadian-football-league-season/ 9) Dru Brown, Ottawa Redblacks (A) Hard money: $321,000 Maximum value: $387,000 Browns’s 2026 compensation comes from a $150,000 signing bonus, $131,000 base salary, $15,000 in marketing money, $15,000 in housing, and a $10,000 travel allowance. He has an additional $66,000 available in playtime, statistical, all-star and award incentives. 10) Jake Maier, Ottawa Redblacks (A) Hard money: $200,000 Maximum value: $263,000 Maier’s 2026 compensation comes from a $94,600 base salary, $75,000 signing bonus, $15,400 in housing, $7,500 travel allowance, and $7,5000 in marketing money. He has an additional $63,000 available in playtime, statistical and award incentives.

DAZN has 20 million subscribers globally. In Canada they are probably the best way to watch the NFL and Soccer so they should have a reasonable Canadian subscriber base. I can't imagine that people who only watch their own teams games will shell out 35/mo to catch the 2-4 games that get caught up in this. And if you enjoy watching all the games week over week 35 is still fairly steep They are definitely counting on existing subscribers to make it worth their while. CFL is a summer league so it could fill some of the gap for them between Club and European Soccer and the NFL

That would be worth the $35/month.....

2026 CFL Around The League (Not Bombers Specific)
yeah not cheap. I don’t mind if it’s got all the games, but i don’t want to be paying for tsn and dazn for cfl games. 500m over 6 years can’t be it that would be insane. I can’t imagine that dazn would over spend to invest in the cfl, when the changes coming next year are such a huge risk. I don’t either, but dinwiddie marches to the best of his own drum at qb. I suspect he wants to get a good look at mccheese, and wants brown to have to really scrap for the spot. If they do go with mccheese, browns deal isn’t crazy but they would be well off if they sit on brown and trade him early to mid season to a team with qb injuries/sever disappointments. I wouldn’t cut a qb like that. Look at the junk qb state the league is in, guy like brown has good value.

You don't have to only Dinwiddie does and it appears he's going to start Maier as QB1. I didn't think Arbuckle could take over effectively from Kelly either, but Dinwiddie is very good at getting the most out of his QBs. Right now it appears he values Maier higher than Brown.

Wow now that’s a panel. Throw in a 24 of Club along with the OV and include Suitor as a whipping boy for Walby and Dunnigan as the beer flows and takes effect. I would definitely pay a subscription fee to watch that. I think after watching the first episode this is what would happen: Who won the game? What game?

I don't buy Mayor McCheese being an effective QB.

Walby, Dunnigan, and a 24 of OV

Also, I doubt pubs and restaurants are going to have a subscription to show that in their venues as opposed to just throwing tsn on one of the tvs.

In the states you have to have subscriptions to about 4 services to watch every national broadcasted game for the NFL.

So Dru Brown demoted to 2nd string by the looks of it. I wonder is this is just Dinwiddie mind games, or just wanting to get a way better look at Maier? Not sure what to make of this? Will Ottawa keep Brown at his salary to sit as 2nd string? Keep in mind they have 3 other QBs that looked very impressive in preseason game 1. Would Ottawa cut Brown loose or trade him? Would we be open to bringing him back if there was the possibility? I WOULD. At any rate, whoever shakes loose from Ottawa, I would be very interested in bringing in and having a look see. They can't keep them all. Dinwiddie is very impressive in his ability to guru QBs. What he got out of Arbuckle the last 2 seasons after his career looked DOA, how he got Kelly playing very good ball in a short amount of time etc.

Because the greedy fucks who make decisions don't realize that people don't want 1000 subscription payments to watch everything. They want 1 or 2 places to get what they want. More than that piracy is more attractive.

2026 Bombers Season
I actually don't think Wilson was ever as much of an after thought as all that... I think the backup spot was wide open to whoever wanted to take it.
-
2026 Bombers Season
I'm just looking around the league at everyone's potential 3rd string and not seeing where he would latch on. Maybe I'm undervaluing his SY, but I see a whole bunch of young 3rd string guys who have actually looked quite good in preseason so far and some teams 4th stringers that might catch on before Wilson. We know he isn't going anywhere based on his actual QB play thus far. If he agrees to PR somewhere then maybe....

New TV Contract
So in order to watch the games starting next year, one has to pay for either cable and DAZN or TSN and DAZN......we no longer have the ability to watch all games from one source....If I got this correct then I don't like it.....how many casual eyeballs, heck even dedicated eyeballs are really going to drop that extra money.... Extra revenue is nice for the teams but I don't see this generating any extra viewership....

I'm really curious to know why everyone seems to think DAZN is so low on the totem pole. They're huge outside of the US. Their NFL service in Canada is great. I hate the price, but the quality is amazing. no kidding lol just such unawareness

New TV Contract
Isn't every NFL game on DAZN in Canada?
-
New TV Contract
True and this revenue better result in helping grow and enhance the league and attract talent viewership etc versus lining the pockets of capitalist pigs. Again starting off my morning outstanding! Good morning all!

If anyone is curious like I briefly was if this deal was implemented this year it would affect Week 18 (away at MTL) and week 19 (home vs Calgary)
-
New TV Contract
I wonder who the broadcast team for DAZN will be. Will they use TSN guys or will they need to hire their own talent? Not that the TSN broadcast is a gold standard or anything, but if they need to hire a whole crew for one game a week, how bad will they be?

2026 Bombers Season
yeah...When TE signed...Perkins coming up...I think writing was on the wall. I think tho he will latch on...experience is currency and he does run a good short yardage
