  1. Past hour
  2. I agree, better would be good, now direct that anger at who is responsible for bringing in the talent. There seems to be a huge disconnect on this forum in that regard.
  3. I watched kolankowski **** up a snap not 2 games ago... and I watched him do nothing of value on many other plays, and I watched his slow ass limit a run by Brady because he couldn't either get a block or get out of the backs way. Maybe he's better at snapping, but at this point maybe we need someone better at not being a guy who can snap and nothing else.
  4. Yes, that surely does say something about Walters work doesn't it? You have to be off your rocker to think that coaches would rather lose than upgrade their roster. This forum sometimes.....
  5. Every time Eli has had a shot at center in pre season he ****** up at least one snap. Not the best way to gain confidence of your coaches and QB and get promoted to starter...
  6. Bighill was useless in pass coverage too. Bighill got injured and it improved the D so how can you sit there and sat it was the best use of roster? It's a bright flashing sign showing how O'Shea's loyalty to certain veterans blinds him from making the best roster moves... so if we know it happens based on this one example we can ******* easily extrapolate that it happens to varying degrees at other positions. It's pretty ******* telling when we can sit here on this message board in the offseason and basically nail the depth chart before camp even opens.
  7. In a rotation with Bighill was the best use for him at the time and probably would have remained so if Biggie didn't get injured. Biggie may have been eclipsed in stopping the run by Jones, but he is a way better cover LBer than him on passing downs. That is a Jones weakness. I have defended Tony Jones all year here, and will continue to do so, because I think he is a decent MIKE but he was no better than Biggie on passing downs and in fact was not as good. Where we saw the real improvement was against the run where Biggie was struggling. I agree on finding someone else. Like I said, I am no Kola fan. I just don't believe the answer is in house and that is on Walters. If Eli showed any ability to be a starting Centre he would have gotten a look by now. Sorry if some guys want to live on what we saw early in his career, but he never reached his potential.
  8. I'm on the fence about Eli, but there is a HUGE NCAA vs CIS bias going on here (on MBB) in his favour... I tend to agree that if he actually was able to outperform Koala, he would have had a shot by now.
  9. This is less about how good Eli is and more about Kolankowski sucks, try someone else and if it's not Eli find someone else.
  10. I agree. He looked promising before he stepped away from football after 2019 but he has clearly not been the same player since.
  11. And it took an injury for him to get the more substantial playing time which led to improved team performance.... and opportunity that wouldn't have been given without injury... and that's not the only position this sort of thing happens with. We're just not always lucky enough to have injuries at positions where they need to happen.
  12. Eli's been around since 2019 and hasn't been promoted to starter yet. If you're basing your opinion on how he played way back in 2017 against college opposition, then you're out to lunch on your assessment of his current value.
  13. Yes, a veteran guy we brought in and he definitely helped but he had a bunch of playing time prior to Biggie's injury already. We were using him on running downs in rotation at both MIKE and WIL. Eli has not shown the ability to play at a high level when inserted into our line up. What confidence should the coaches have in him after what he has displayed thus far? The guy has stunk when he has been put in as an injury replacement. I will concede that has not been at Centre, but the crux remains that you still have to show an ability to block even at centre.
  14. Teams barely scout PRs of each other? Based on what are you saying this? Who says? I've seen umpteen examples of teams taking prospects released by other teams and getting good use out of them. We've had several players released by us get looks in other places only to be released by other teams. You are not arguing with facts in any way, shape, or form right now. You believe we are not giving players development? How so? Do you think that playing players that are not developed is the way to develop them properly? That is nonsense. Not one iota of your counter argument is grounded in reality.
  15. This is a terrible argument... teams in the cfl barely scout practise rosters of each other any more. Fact is their own American scouting is just as efficient. Hamilton is a great example. They hired a gm from the Bombers and he found a use.for tons of guys who didn't get as many opportunities here. Mostly with Americans you're looking at potential and it's the combination of opportunity and development that turn them into impactful starters. The crux of the issue here is that we never give guys those opportunities when there's an established vet in their way on the depth chart. It leads to stagnation.
  16. Tony Jones? Cause you and I know damned well that without injury bighill would still be starting for us despite a scrap heap pick up like Jones instantly improved play at the position.
  17. We've had Eli, a college all-star center for several years, and a Canadian-status to boot, but O'Shea is O'Shea.
  18. Caleb Evans torn ACL and out for the season for MTL. Shea Patterson just signed.
  19. Today
  20. How can you say that? Who has come in as an injury replacement and pushed a starter out lately? Can't think of one. Therefore you suggesting something is demonstratively false is completely opinion, and without any basis in fact to back it up. That is called opinion, not fact. That is arguing in bad faith. If you can give me some tangible facts, I am willing to reconsider my opinion but just saying this is the way it is based on nothing is not a particularly compelling argument.
  21. You can use that as a metric though, if we are passing on quality starting level talent other teams will gladly bring them in. Every team, no matter how much they scout, will not gladly take a quality player that slips through the cracks elsewhere. We've had numerous players that we've cut get looks elsewhere only to be cut again.
  22. Nothing wrong with Neufeld, it was just fatigue, Ly we had wallace and eli available to rotate in, this year its only Eli In the 4th qtr when Eli was in he got literally run over, and when he and wallace are in together its a problem Ottawa dressed 9 dline, to keep them fresher and it showed
  23. I didnt like Buck as a player and I thought that might continue on with his coaching. And imo it did. We're passing no matter what, we going deep no matter what. Etc etc. His first year wasnt as bad as his 2nd. But the GC game last year was icing on the cake imo. Im not as down on Hogan as some. Hes a rookie. You're gonna have growing pains. I like a lot of what he does, especially with Streveler.
  24. Neufeld was ass to start last season because he was hurt all camp. And how can Eli earn a spot when he never gets a chance there? See you're still clinging to this false idea that you have that guys are starting because they are the best option and no one has pushed past them. That's demonstatively flase with this team...
  25. cant use that tho as a metric...Teams put time and money into their own recruiting and scouting....and won't dump their guys for others...thats how you also lose your scouting staff (Cyril Penn says hi) I can see the thinking of that....but really it's a never will know...and for a lot of positions in the CFL players are pretty comparable across the board talent and skill wise....it's coaching and instruction that sets then apart....to even get a invite to even a CFL camp you gotta be able to play and have talent....and brains So perhaps a lot of what ails us when we dont have a vet lineup in it's prime is our ability to coach and scheme effectively and get guys in right positions to be sucessful?....could very well be....Osh himself has said he at times has no clue whats going on in the locker room...and lets the guys sort things out themselves....maybe he needs to be more hands on now that he doesnt have the troops to self coach/police.....just spitballing but that is not out of the quation and making up a yarn
