Blue Bombers -- 2025/26 Offseason -- Discussion Thread
All I can say is I hope the CFL scribes keep rating as an 'also ran' because I know we'll surprise the hell out of a few of them....These kinds of positionings and ratings this early, when a serious shot hasn't even been fired, amuse the heck out of me...We definitely had an excellent fa and I believe some of our off season signings are going to come through for us....I also believe quarterbacking will be the deciding factor about our success one way or the other...TC should tell us a lot and is certainly going to give us a better picture...In any case we are going to put a scare into some of the 'so called front runners' and could even give the top spot a run ourselves in the west.....We shall see

100%. I expect us to be a real tough team to play this year. As always health will play a big factor. Qbing will dictate how good we will be. Best case scenario, zach has one more magic run in him with a blm/harris like resurgence. In which case we are a top contender. Worst case, zach is done/injured and we have a gritty tough team that only wins ugly. maybe the most likely situation is zach is the best we’ve seen in 2-2.5 years but does not return to his peak level. Then we have a 18/19 type team but with the sporadic ability to put up a blow out on any one.

Seconded... But I like where the media's head is at. Let's go surprise everyone.

I agree on this. He's got intriguing skill, works like a dog and plays a solid 200-ft game against men in the SHL, but it feels too risky to pick a player of his stature in the top 10. He could end up a Top 5 talent when looking back, but you can't afford to miss on these high picks.

Yeah, no mention is made that sask has lost Carney,Allen,Reaves,Nield, Baldanado, Ajou, and Micah Johnson, yet Cfl.ca figures they will win more games than last year. ( Winnipeg and Edmonton both will be stronger as well)

I'm pretty confident we will be good this year. How good will depend on our quarterbacking. I personally have high hopes with Broxton and the overall commitment to revamping our OL...and then Tim White to throw to... Defense is really shaping up to be menacing. Riders suck, BC sucks. Time to assert our position back at the top of the mountain.

Harris is 40 and was healthy for the first time in years. I feel like that doesn't hold again for Saskatchewan.

Another gem from cfl.ca: "If Rourke is healthy, then BC should be good for 13-14 wins in a West Division that they should dominate alongside Saskatchewan". We'll be fighting for the crossover boys!

In the NFL you don't get many chances to prove your worth in a game, and when he did he had a spectacularly bad game...almost cringeworthy bad. That has sealed his fate. He had 2 full years of development and looked god awful when he got his chance. Couple that with the good old NFL bias against CIS guys and he is pretty much toast. Lions gave him a lot of leash and he did nothing with it. Manu coming in 2027 could really upset the apple cart for us, in a good way. A bonafide and legit NAT OT with NFL pedigree. That could change everything for us on OL.

Speaking of... Ferguson has his 2nd mock draft up. He took a page from Hodge and says we don't have full back so he sees us taking Boutin with our 2nd pick. Not sure why they keep ignoring MCI but given both of their track records, it won't be an issue as the Bombers aren't likely to pick him. Something to talk about at least. Ferguson originally had us taking Vaccaro (4), Cenacle (13) and Reese (20) - his final version has us taking Djabome (4), Gatkuoth (13) & Boutin (20). Hodge's first version had us going Elad (4), Jones (13) & Demontagnac (20) before switching to Denis (4), Boutin (13) & Ojutalayo (20) Mock Draft 2.0: Who's going first overall to Ottawa? - CFL.ca John Hodge's 2026 CFL Mock Draft 2.0 - 3DownNation

His name is/was Morris and he had a book store on Osborne I believe...He sure made the rounds on all of the CFL sites and got booted from a few of them...He had a penchant of rubbing people the wrong way...His use of the word 'vermin' to describe some people irked a few...Sure backed the bluengold ...one of his good attributes....He was certainly a 'legend in his own mind'

Yeah at worst this will be final shot/season down there to stick....And if no real legit feelers if/when he gets released either in TC and after camp....and no PR opp....could be a late season guy we see....or in camp for 2027...His injury issues and non-ability to develop hurt him down there...but good for us He'd be a huge addition

Just want to point out that the Detroit Lions were almost ready to part ways with Giovanni Manu already and they ended up selecting an OT yesterday in round 1. Very likely that Manu gets shown the door in Detroit. I doubt that he doesn't at least get some other looks in the NFL, but him coming to the Bombers is not outside the realm of reality by end of NFL TCs.

If we move up we have much higher odds of being number 1 or 2. Same goes for 7 or 8 with 9 having about the same odds (less than 1%) as getting number 3. Not sure how it works or why but 3 and 9 are longshots. Therefore, is we move up the highest probability is number one or two. If we get top two you take one of McKenna or Stenberg...they are a cut above everyone else. If we go 7 or 8 you look for one of the big 3 D, if they are not available then Lawrence or Malhotra. Bjorck intrigues me...but size matters down the middle in the NHL. I think Bjorck is a winger at that level.

Yeah Lawrence at 7 definitely fits the way Chevy likes to draft, but hopefully we get lucky and move up.😊

Malhotra and Lawrence are way below Verhoeff, Carels, and Smits in upside. They fit an organizational positional need but BPA is one of the 3 d-men. I like Bjorck as much as the next guy but he is tiny. Some guys can play through that and have success at the next level but I'm not betting a top 10 pick on it. I think he's a faller in the draft, much like Perfetti was, due to size. If I were a betting man I would think that all of the 3 d will be taken before 7, and we will then go Lawrence at 7 to fit our need for a 2C. Sorry...I don't believe Yager is that guy. If Yager proves me wrong then what a good problem we have. I'm not picking Malhotra because i think Lawrence has a higher ceiling, even though Malhotra is probably better right now.

Yeah Malhotra has really shot up,i saw one pundit had him at 2, and suggested he could go 1, he is having a great playoff run but that is a stretch imo..but you never know. 😊
